      The best I could tell it was one techbro leading that charge and he seemed to single out Marques. Maybe Marques was the most well-known name but the body of reviews were almost all negative. Sure there were other people complaining about the reviews but the rest were relatively unknown people. I hope this convinces companies to make sure their products live up to their own hype before pushing them out the door.

    IMO: if you disagree with his review and opinions on products he reviews, you can still go out and spend the money and try it yourself. if you think it's great, fine, make a review sharing those thoughts, but to say He is ruining companies with his negative reviews shows a lack of accountability from consumers, companies, and media. Please let's be mindful and use our own brains and money to make our own decisions on what we decide to spend our money on. 💕💕

    Really??!! Why would people criticize a Tech reviewer for giving an honest opinion about a product where he gives specific examples of what features are not working. If he had glossed over the product, his own reputation would have plummeted because people like myself who over the years have come to completely trust his honest and straight forward reviews ... they would have completely lost faith in his straight forward opinion ... which is exactly why he's built such a stellar reputation as a Tech reviewer in the first place!! In contrast, I watched iJustine gush over a similar product, even 'ooooh'ing' and 'aaaaaw'ing' over the product's crappy packaging, then gushing over the gadget's ability to recognize an egg dish, a banana, a flower and for it to suggest some TV channels ... I "unsubscribed" from her channel long ago for this very reason ... it's obvious that her so-called "reviews" are paid promo's or some other benefit provided for providing a positive review ... which is no different than watching some tacky, sponsored TV Ad. Thank goodness for MKBHD's honesty and integrity ... I hope he never compromises his high standard, no matter how much the product developers of half-baked products complain and whine.

  • @MichaelSheaAudio
    @MichaelSheaAudio 27 дней назад +2

    It's kinda weird to ask a question like "how long until we don't have to drive ourselves?" in regards to autonomous cars, and it makes sense in most of North America and other areas that don't have other transportation options, so driving seems like the be all end all. If we instead put our funding into trains, buses, streetcars, bicycle infrastructure, building walkable mixed-use neighborhoods, then you wouldn't need to drive. Personal motor vehicles are like the absolute worst option in terms of cost, environmental impact, safety, moving mass amounts of people efficiently, etc. We're wasting our time with "self-driving" cars when cars shouldn't even be the main focus of transportation in the future.

    • @jamestomato1744
      @jamestomato1744 21 день назад

      I personally think a bit of both is necessary, but we absolutely need to wean away from automobiles and invest more into public transportation (now I'm in Canada, so it's not super bad at least in Southern Ontario, but there are other places in Canada where cars are your only option to get around).

    • @MichaelSheaAudio
      @MichaelSheaAudio 21 день назад

      @@jamestomato1744 I too am in Southern Ontario, and my town is awful. Buses come every 30 minutes and they're unreliable so you could miss it. No bike lanes, just paint on the road in a few spots so no one cycles. The train tracks that ran through town were just ripped out recently since they hadn't been used for years. The Go bus comes through a few times a day, I'm not sure if they've started coming on weekends again. Plus Doug and his goons think a new highway is going to help traffic. 🤦 Canada can be just as bad as the US, unfortunately.

    I like Marques. I watched both his reviews of the smart pin and the Fisker Ocean. I thought both were fair. What has somewhat turned me away from Marques's channel is due to his own success. I watched his Tesla solar roof. Then I watched where Marques and 3 other guys discussed a $2500 smart mattress topper. All of these products are beyond my price range. That turned me off. I still like Marques's phone/camera reviews, where he still has a budget/value award. (Now cue the trolling from people who hate me because I agreed with his smart pin and Fisker reviews, as well as the people who now hate me because I criticized Marques. Stupid trolls, get a life.)

    People try to put a higher self-determined burden of ethics on MBKHD, because he's a bigger RUclipsr with a lot of views and subscribers. Nobody would push back if this type of review was posted on The Guardian. It doesn't help that we all are chronically online, so we can feel the impact when he posts videos. A reviewer is not a critic. Barely a journalist. His reviews are all subjective, even though he tries to be honest.
    I believe, over time, companies' marketing departments have given reviewers and RUclipsrs a lot of reverence because of how wide the audience reach is. That doesn't give them the power to determine how the RUclipsrs and reviewers get to look at and present their products. They were never journalists or critics. They are online personalities who have established themselves through the discussion of tech products. That's the fact, in all its beauty and ugliness.
