But you never stated what you’re actually doing now in the world of styling. Are you styling clients at home, celebrities, or still working with another stylist? If you work for yourself, how did you actually get to that point? You can def elaborate on that.
The vibe, the emotions in this video, touched my heart. Thank you!
i love this, it help inspire me for the passion I honestly love. thank you for the help of my confusion about the fashion stylist life 💕
This was SO inspiring and realistic. Thank you thank you !

loved this video! Could you tell me the subjects you chose in high school? I'm currently a freshmen in high school and I've gotta choose my subjects now as I wanna be a Fashion stylist.
I love this video so much! You have an amazing positive energy and that give me hope. I am 27 years old and I want to change my career path. Not sure where should I start to do styling. What do you think about Fashion Stylist courses (like at FIT, Parsons)? xoxo
This video has such good information!! I'm a senior in high school and I am going to major in fashion merchandizing, I wasn't to sure on what it entailed, but this helped me very much!! Thank you so much!! Also a question, do you think that going to college on the west coast is better or more helpful to get into the industry? I live on the east coast and I'm nervous there won't be a ton of opportunity around here? Thank you!!!
I'm sooo happy you felt that it helped :) It was my pleasure!! I dont think west coast is necessarily better. It depends what you want to get into. there may be more opportunities for TV/FILM in Los angeles but there are tons of opportunities all over. Like styling ecommerce, and TONS of fashion in new york. So many huge designers and brands are based out of NY. Research fashion brands you like and check to see where the Head Quarters are located by clicking on their "about" page on their website. Free people is in PA and they have amazing stylists who do their catalog and ecomm.... opportunities are endless. just see what you gravitate towards more and do a bit of research :) Excited for you!! xo
Amy Serrano
Thank you so much for the help, I don't know anyone who is has gone to school for this so its hard finding out information!! Ty again! Xoxo
+Amy Serrano I recently came across your video which is very helpful. Like you stated in the video ever since high school I wanted to become a
wardrobe stylist. I'm a sophomore in college and my major is journalism but I also want to be a stylist. Do you have any tips on how I can achieve in both
JuliaGraceGuindon in nyc, FIT has a program for fashion styling and wardrobe styling.
Amy Serrano Hi, future stylist here. Do you think working as a stylist for an agency or being a freelance stylist is better? How much is the pay for a freelance vs stylist with agent. would I be able to live in nyc. What all does a agent do for a stylist? Is it worth it?
Hi Amy! In your experience, are their certain areas of study/degrees that are important to get into the industry? Does a degree help in getting internships? What do you think are the keys to getting an internship or assisting job? Thank you!
Great and helpful video!
Do we need 2 do any specific course for fashion styling???"
not sure, but i know u need a degree in fashion merchandising
thank you this was very useful
Amy, what should I do? I am almost dome with my undergrad degree in Business but I want my career in Fashion industry. What should I do? Do I have to pursue a fashion degree?
Same here haha
thank you for your video
Most of your sound effects are literally so loud compared to your voice, that it physically hurts my ears. Maybe have those on the same level as your voice?
Other than that; Great video 🖒
great tip babe! this was when i first started my channel I think I've learned and have gotten a lil bit better at editing since then. thanks for the cc always appreciated

I'm from India and it would be so helpful to hear some good hints from you to commence ma carrier as a fashion stylist !! Would you ?
Hey I want to know which course did you choose for your graduation? Can I be a fashion stylist if I choose fashion merchandising as my degree course? I mean will I get some knowledge regarding styling if I choose so?
do i need any certificates to start my career as stylist? i love to experiment with my wardrobe :)
Hi. I have been helping my stylist friend for 6 days and it's even more insane than I imagined. I have been working more than 15 hours a day sometime 18 hours. Is this normal for you as well?
Hey Amy! I'm new to your channel and I absolutely love it! I want to become part of the fashion world, maybe as an intern or a model or ANYTHING. I love fashion and want to become a fashion designer some day. The only thing is that I'm not from the US but I want to work there. Do you know a way I can apply for a company on the US?
thank u so much.
I wanted to be a fashion designer can you give me some tips on where can I gain internship? I wand want to learn about how the industry works.
Ma'am I'm from technical background. Can I apply for wardrobe styling internships ?
Do stylists pay for clothes or do they buy them.
Do they borrow them and return them? Local clothes only or internationally?
Thank you
What if you are a grade 10 with no job, what is your advise to make money to be able to travel with your client?
I use to work for a stylist also in Malaysia, i loved every part of it but i hated my boss, so i quite after that 😂 but it was fun styling local celebrities

how did you like Cal State Long Beach???
what major should someone who wants to be a wardrobe stylist study in college?
Kamri XoXo don’t really neeeeed to just provide a portfolio
Fashion merchandising, you can do a lot in the fashion industry with that degree 🙂
My gf went to cal state Long Beach for her master’s!
Hi Amy! thank you for this lovely video! What do you think is the most appropriate way to reach out to someone's agent via email? (so it won't be casual as you said)
+Olanmotion yes mail's are formal
Loved your advice! I am about to graduate college this December and I majored in Political Science bc I was pursuing law school. Recently I've realized I don't wanna be a lawyer and really wish to fully pursue fashion styling. That has always been my niche and I'm planning to move to LA for more opportunities (I'm from Texas). Any advice or what could you tell me to expect?
Cristina omg I literally am in a similar situation. I graduated college , degree in criminal justice took the LSAT planned on law school in the fall but I'll be moving from upstate NY to NYC to pursue fashion . Best of luck to you !! 💕💕
I am on the same situation. I am graduating in business but I want to pursue my career in fashion.
It hard
When you started to apply for internships what all did you have on your resume?? I'm always nervous I won't have anything that will impress the people I want to intern with. Thanks!! You're amazing.
Savannah Houdek the only thing I had on my resume was working retail. I worked at pac sun in high school! You just have to add some flavor to your resume with certain words. There's a ton of books and information online on how to create a really nice resume that can be helpful :) and you sell yourself more through your cover letter. I sincerely hope you realize everything that you want to do and enjoy your journey getting there 👌🏻
I have so many questions for you. Is there anyway I could contact you and message you? It's totally okay if you can't. Just thought I'd try to ask!:)
i feel like this is pretty impossible unless u live in la ny or london
Do you have to be in LA or NY to try and get your foot through the door in the world of being a fashion stylist?
def. more opportunity in both LA and NY but take a look at my wardrobe styling Q+A vid because I get that quesiton alot and I list a few options you can look at if youre not ready to make that leap.
Do you have to go to school be a stylist or get into styling?
Jessica Argueta Diaz its recommended
What kind of technological skills are expected for an assisting job/internship? Like computer programs and stuff :)
it`s much more essential that you`re proactive, detail-oriented and resourceful than to have computer skills. but yeah, it doesn`t hurt to know excel ;)
Is there a reliable online course or diploma I can take to be a fashion stylist?
since we don't have this major in our country and I'd like to spread of how much fashion styling is important
Hi, I am a fashion and celebrity stylist and just launched my online course for aspiring stylists. I also have plenty or great tips and advice. If you have any questions I will be happy to answer it :)
I'm a Korean student who wants to work in the fashion field.I'm enjoying your video everyday! In the U.S., Does stylists work through the night almost every day? And are they paid badly? In Korea, the stylists work through the night.. Sorry about my English skill. I want you to understand. Thank U so much:)
블라썸 I’ve heard that the hours are very long, especially for costume designers! Stylists definitely work overtime but I don’t think they work over night unless they feel like they need to
@@courtdavila Thank U so much!!!! How about other field stylists such as personal shopper(personal stylist) and celebrity stylist...?? And does cybermall in US have their own stylist? (not md)
블라썸 sorry this is REALLY late haha but personal stylist usually will work over hours since they’re working for that person, same with a celebrity because you’re catering to them 😂 and as for a cybermall do you mean an online store?
id love to work for bella hadids stylist but i live in the uk :/
So I have a question! I don't know if you are able to answer this or not, but my dream job would be to write for fashion magazines. However, im currently a freshman in college but it's not at all a fashion school. Do you think I have to go to a school and study fashion in order to do what I want to do?
hi babe! No, not at all... it doesn't matter that you're not going to a fashion school. Apart from school you can study up on whats going on in fashion by reading WWD or other fashion trade publications, as well as staying in the know by paying attention to the runways, street style and editorials. If you don't have a blog already you should totally start one to practice your journalism. You can start establishing yourself as a fashion editor :) xo
Amy Serrano I actually have been wanting to start a blog for so long now! I just don't really know where to start😂 and thank you for the tips!
hellooohailey I totally get what you mean I was in the same boat too but my best advice is to just go for it !! Xoxo
If you want to get a styling internship do have have to have college experience?
Nope xo
I HAVE SO MANYYYYY QUESTIONSSS!!!
ask away boo!!!
We were in Shadow Hills and you always had such a great wardrobe! And the hair! I always wondered how you managed to keep your hair so straight! I have curly hair so I was so jelly! Haha I've always been a fan of all your work!
hi babe!! aw and i've always loved your curls!! and your eyes boo so beautiful!
Hey I actually want someone to council me about this particular field.I'm completely new to the field and being just 15 I want to get clear about what I am going to pick ahead in my life. Can we discuss this? (If that's not a disturbance to your schedule)
well I am from India and here the education system is quite different
Hey I am from India too and am into Fashion Merchandising but have done a lil bit of Styling so shoot me some questions if you wanna. I can understand your situation so.
+Akanksha Raturi even i'm from India and 15 years old. so we should take arts right??? and after that to become a stylish what should we do ,like which degree?? lease help
Akanksha Raturi hii i am an aspiring stylist can you please share your email
@@assassindonut0176 even I'm a aspiring stylist can you help me out with some internships?
this is random but you look like Vivian Fabiola from Clevvertv on youtube
How old are you?
Can I just ask what's your age???
What is you not start any thing and you live in Florida and you are 20 years old and you are too different can you be in this kind of jobs
She look like camila mendes mixed with camila cabello
13:14 Natalie Campos or what?!? WHAT A MOVE!
let me be your intern! lol
What an eyebrows!😂🥰❤
lol you look like camilla cabello
Lea michele
you are so cute
Why so many weird sounds
discovered sound effects at this point on youtube and went ham. i know it was overkill but literally started editing a month before lol
Please turn your special effects so I can watch again ha. In all seriousness, it hurts hearing them in a background. this is such informational video so these effects are ruining the quality of it.
You kind of look like bay from switched at birth!
Listen.. if you think stylist interning in LA is bad lord. NY that is really a whole other grind people wouldn't get. You don't drive and you'll be lucky enough if the stylist your helping even gets you an uber places. You will be on trains going to different showrooms walking literally miles per day while holding garment bags/shopping bags; dogging bicycle riders, people not paying attention and etc in the city. If all I had to worry about was gas and traffic my life would be no complaint. Imagine you having to take a train somewhere and the train decides to stop running properly.
