  • This shows my installation of an NCStar scout scope on my Mosin Nagant 91/30. I've tried one of those mounts that connects to the rear sight, and it was junk. They are poorly made and move around and bend after just a few rounds of recoil. I removed the rear sight and used some quality 3/8" dovetail rings mounted directly to the rifle barrel dovetail. I use done of the dovetail pin holes to drill out a notch in the rear ring, and a I drove the pin back in to hold it from moving. It's holding up very well, and my scope has remained zeroed.

    Thanks for the video. I pick up my 91/30 on Monday, and I plan to use this setup. This is the first video I've seen where a person has actually discussed the function of this setup on the range. Now I feel better about my choice of scope setup.

    Can't remember the bit size. I just found the right one by trying bits until I found the one that fit snugly into the pin holes already in the mount. I wante dit to be tight, so i could tap the pins in securely.

    Are those low, medium, or high rings?

    Been to the range about 5 times and put about 100 rounds through it, and it stays put and holds zero.

    how do you like the scope ?

    How do you adjust the wind age and elevation of your NCSTAR scope? Do you have to use a screwdriver? I have the same scope and the turret caps screw off to expose where a turret is supposed to be. Instead there is a dial and a groove for a standard head screwdriver. Am i missing something or is it dependent on a screwdriver for adjustments?

      Ha ha ha... I see why no one answered your question! Ha ha ha!
      If you don't know the answer then maybe you should take some gun safety classes and a little gun knowledge before you shoot your rifle.

    Hello, what is the name of the mount and where did you get it ?

    • @treyspetch
      @treyspetch  10 лет назад

      There is no mount. That is kind of the point. The 3/8 dovetail rings mount directly to the rail that is already built into your gun.

      Hayseed1776
      They are NcStar 1" Ring-3/8' Dovetail-Medium (RB25). There is a link to them on Amazon.com in the description above.

      Is that an ncstar scope also ? with the long eye relief ?

    • @treyspetch
      @treyspetch  10 лет назад

      Hayseed1776 yes, scout scope means long eye relief. Didn't want to put an expensive optic on my $100 gun.

    At what distance were you shooting?

    • @treyspetch
      @treyspetch  10 лет назад

      I shoot it at 100 yards. I usually put my shots in a 6 inch diameter circle. But I don't use a rifle mount, and I have a bit of a time keeping the rifle from jumping in my hand.

    I got the rings from Amazon.com. The link has been added to the video description above.
    The scope is an NcStar 2-7x32 long eye relief scope that I picked up at the gun show. I also added a link to that same scope on Amazon.com in the video description above.
