If you watched Rodman play, you would see that he often had a stationary bike on the sideline, and would cycle while on the "bench" instead of resting. He had one of the best motors in the entire league.
theres was a GREAT TEAM SYSTEM rodman used to during bulls time, lakers and mavs dont appreacaite his tenacity and what things he can contribute on the floor.
I often forget that Rodman played for anyone besides the Pistons and Bulls, crazy how he was in his mid 30s for the Bulls second three peat, and in his last year he was still a force when he was healthy.

I am a huge Rodman fan. He's a freak of athletic nature. I truly feel he was a basketball genius; that's not just hyperbole either. His basketball IQ was up there with the best of the best. But I'm really disappointed in his stint with the Lakers and the Mavericks, because it was obvious he still had the chops to play in the NBA, and it was obvious that he had the physical abilities to go along with his talents. But his on-court antics and buffoonery dominated and took center stage on those two teams, and these theatrics were no longer amusing. They were indeed a distraction. And it's so disappointing that he allowed that behavior to ruin the showcasing of his brilliant abilities as a basketball player. Anyone would have given anything to have had his talents, yet he just flippantly threw them away. How disrespectful to himself, to the game of basketball, and to those who would have loved to have had his abilities. It was Rodman who ended his career in the NBA, not father time. How tragic.
Phil Jackson was the only NBA coach who had the ability to get such a diverse group of personalities to work together on the basketball court- for the most part.. enough talent to win and enough on court cohesion to win.. Another coach, another organization could not do this.. MJ also, another thing that makes him the greatest- his ability to be floor leader and keep his teammates focused- on the game- instead of on the antics. Rodman had some respect for Phil Jackson and his coaching staff.. watch Rodman defend Shaq in 1996 playoffs. He was a distraction to Shaq and the Orlando Magic . Yet the Bulls stayed focused. It was not that other teams didn’t appreciate Rodmans talents. They signed him. They did not have what it took to understand his personality and his coaches and teammates also.. the coaches.. (San Antonio Spurs coach John Lucas, wanted to argue with Rodman and get in his face, wrong approach. He didn’t achieve anything positive ) Phil Jackson and his zen approach and the Bulls defensive coaches were really, really good and they approached Rodman differently and maybe got as much respect as anyone could have from him.. except for maybe former pistons coach Chuck Daly.
@@jayleerandolph321 Excellent points. I agree with everything you said. The only thing I would add, however, is that Rodman was a grown man, and he should have shown restraint enough to still go out there and give it his all. At the end of the day, he was still responsible for himself, his actions, his behavior. But yeah, Phil Jackson was indeed a master of getting a diverse group of personalities to work together on the basketball court and create some magic.

Damn near 40 and still was a damn beast in the rebounding department amazing!
