This literally made me cry. Lady Gaga is my favorite music artist and "Imagine" just happens to be one of my favorite songs of all time. She sang it beautifully and I love her so much, so much, oh, so much.
She is so amazing. I pulled off 'Edge of Glory' at a karaoke night, once, and it felt beautiful. I taught the infant daughter of some of my dearest friends (the girl's name is Athena) to dance to that song before she was even a year old. That little girl still smiles and runs up to me whenever she sees me, and I think Gaga deserves some of the credit for that.

If there is one thing I do NOT get, it's all the hate in this video's comments. She sings this song well, she obviously has huge amounts of respect for the original, she's not just trying to profit of John Lennon's legacy (this performance happened during the time she was really invested in repealing Don't Ask Don't Tell), the changes that have been made to the song were pretty minor (a few lines to connect the song to her cause and adapting the song to her usual more dramatic style towards the end) and it all served a good cause.

Honestly, I like this version. Even though I'm a little monster since I was 10, I don't like her "dance"/"pop" music-- it doesn't sound special and unique. If there is one thing I do NOT get, it's all the hate in this video's comments. She sings this song well, she obviously has huge amounts of respect for the original, she's not just trying to profit of John Lennon's legacy (this performance happened during the time she was really invested in repealing Don't Ask Don't Tell), the changes that have been made to the song were pretty minor (a few lines to connect the song to her cause and adapting the song to her usual more dramatic style towards the end) and it all served a good cause.
And honestly, in what universe would Lennon be mad at people covering his song about universal love, acceptance and tearing down walls that separate people from each other? Could he even fucking disapprove of this without demonstrating incredible hypocrisy?

Honestly, I like this version. Even though I'm a little monster since I was 10, I don't like her "dance"/"pop" music-- it doesn't sound special and unique. I like when she sings like this: it's only her voice, with a piano, singing a beautiful ballad and killing it on stage. That's when I feel she is unique and talented.
