Really appreciate this video. Ive had this cam installed in my suburban and it hasn’t been running right at all. Tuner took only 15 minutes to tune the thing, only did a single pull on the dyno, then said he couldn’t get it any better.. i think I need a new tuner.
Nice...I got mine done but I had afm fuel delete in mine so I have to get ecu tuned..have 5.3 and same trans.,.. everything sounds good,,no tranny problems I guess either for you....I guess you can get converter out of a trailblazer w 4.2 engine...has the 2800 stall in them...did u do mail order tune ? Thx
So far I have no trans issues, thankfully. As for my converter, we are leaving it stock unless we rebuild trans or put more "go fast parts" on. 😂 We went in-person for my tune; a local tuner. I hope you get everything squared away with yours!
@@JuliaM987 I did the springs w 560 lift...easy...stock exhaust still...mines a 07 so I have to get trans tcm tuned when other is done..thx for info...I did mine after watching u do yours.....
Don't know how you do it lol.... my truck is a 74 with 5.3 conversion and some 'stuff' it weighs only 3200 lbs or about a ton less than yours. My girlfriend drives it like it was any other vehicle. 0-60 is right at 5 seconds depending on traction. I am an admittedly a leadfoot but she never even peeps the tires! In my cop car charger I get like 10 mpg city but she gets 20. I have heard that modern ac pumps draw very little HP (for mileage) having the windows down is probly worse. My truck could not be more different than yours tho... it is lowered half ton with handling stuff.... it will still haul half a ton tho as my son just picked up 1100 lbs of rock with no issues handles like a go kart lol... At 74 years old I really come to love the truck being lowered.... easy to get in and out of and real easy to load/unload the bed no ac.. no power windows..no radio.. no carpets or headliner. got lapbelts for seatbelts and they are usually stuffed behind the seat. cab is TINY... I am only 6' tall and shy of 190 and I barely fit. Oh well...no matter what you do to a vehicle there will be someone who thinks you did it wrong.
I’m getting around 12-15 mpg for everyday city driving and maybe anywhere from 18-20 mpg when actually traveling on the expressway. It truly all depends on where you are at and what your daily commute looks like. I will be making a video eventually on my mpg across country. I just drove 2k miles and was seeing my truck say 19-22mpg 85% of the tine and even in Colorado with higher elevation, up and down the mountains, and in traffic, 27-29mpg ... she had a few little items help her, but I was honestly shocked to see over 20 majority of the time. I can comment back on here when I finally make that video and post it, if you would like. I have planned to go more into detail of what all we did to help her gas mileage, and also doing the actual math to see how off my truck was. I hope this helps a little!
When we did my 0-60's we were at Nevada altitude (2,000 ft) and it was raining. Some of those clips had my 33's on, which weigh 108 lbs a piece. Also, my truck has the 4 speed since she is an '08.

In all honesty, it wasn't too bad. I had just did long tube headers on my truck, so those were a pain to take back out and put back in because of my steering shaft. Otherwise, we didn't necessarily have any actual issues that caused delays. Nothing major, just minor if any. I think for the money you save on labor, if you can do it yourself, definitely do it!
Hi there - I have a 2011 Silverado 5.3 LMG with the BTR TRUCK NORRIS CAM, DOD, and VVT DELETE. I have the 6L80E 4x4 HD from Monster 1800-2000 Stall with Lockup. Have you experienced any issues with your brakes not having adequate vacuum due to the bigger cam?
I installed Truck Norris cam in 2009 5.3 has stock exhaust and converter. At stop lights rpms fluctuate between 700 to 900,had two different tuners. Does urs shake or fluctuate at stops?
When my truck was tuned, we had it tuned to a slightly higher RPM. Pretty much she runs around the same RPM as stock, so that she won't stall at all. My truck runs as perfect and smooth as possible. Only movement is sometimes on colder days or when closer to sea level, she chops beautifully and you can feel that more. No problems, though.
@@JuliaM987 alright I’m about to do this cam myself along with some other goodies I only have 110k miles on mine some people are telling me I need to send my heads out but I don’t really want to do that so I’ve been looking for people that have done this to see what they have done so thanks for your feedback I appreciate it
Before a tune, my truck had some trouble with vacuum. Mainly when it came to coming to a stop. After a tune, no problems at all. We do not have a guage to determine vacuum, so I can't give you an accurate answer.
We took it to a shop in Vegas called TrevTec. My truck was too long to fit on his Dyno, but he did a drivability tune and adjusted the fuel trims and timing.

A converter would do wonders!
Yes, it will! One day I will get a better one, more fit to also handle a supercharger. But for now, the stock is a good base.
Before tune did you have low idle issues. I have a 2008 6.0 votec max. Im having low idle issues.
When we got our tune, the local tuner set the rpm higher so she would idle better.

That truck should be running 0-60 in at least 6.7sec

Good way to blow up a 60
Manually upshifting isn’t going to hurt an automatic. Downshifting will though
