Пример того как не надо - это не TDI это убитая топливка и все убитое - -22 я вообще ни о чем не думаю думать начинаю после - 32 ... на дизеле который мутнеет после -26 На русской арктике да и -35 пофигу и даже холоднее. В видео либо ну топливо совсем c.rc либо двигло в говно. Эта штука и на летнем заведется в -20 не думая

You say new glowplugs, but it takes over a minute to start... Something ain't right with your car. Bad compression, summer diesel, bad tune (you say the car is chipped), I don't know. -20C is cold, but not cold enough to take a minute of cranking. I've started my E420 CDI (Stage 1, remap, DPF delete and sports, catback exhaust system) first try at -18C. Didn't crank for more than 2-3 seconds. I'd love to see how she would handle colder temperatures, but it rarely gets colder than -10C where I live.
Exactly what I thought. Glowplugs aint running optimum, I reckon if left for a minute or so in ignition position 2, the glow plugs would have gotten primed enough for a start. im impressed by that battery's consistent voltage trough all that cranking tho

If you listen to the relay, the glow plugs stay on about twice as long as the light on the dash says. Just to save some wear on the ignition switch, I don't even cycle, just listen to the click. Starts very well.
When starting our vw golf 4 during cold winters we usually turn the key mid way wait a few seconds then turn back to stop position, we do this three times before fully turning it to start position which usually helps the car start more easily

I think an author haven't warmed up candles properly. You should turn the key, see the candles lamp has been went out, wait you hear relay click (several secons after the lamp went out), and repeat this process several (4-5 at this themperature) times

Think of it like AAA batteries and AAAA batteries. They all batteries and non are specific to a truck or car, small or large you can use either or as long as they match within a specification range required for the vehicle. You could even pile together an ungodly amount of 12 volt batteries and start your car in theory.

@@mohe81 it is calculation of consumption from starter motor and what conditions it is to start. on big vehicles with big engines, we typically see 24 volt system, or 12 volt with two batteries in tandem connection. in normal SUV with big engine, typically around 200 amps stored. basically put in the biggest battery there is room for.
It's a Diesel, Probably VW Passat from the mid 90s. It needs to pre heat/glow so the diesel gets warm enough to actually burn. I assume the video is from Russia where temperatures around -30°C are not that uncommon, the engine needs a lot of cranking to get the Diesel back to a fluid. XD

I had different variation of this engine in my car and had no problem starting in -20°C with just double pre-glow cycle. Yes, it is from Russia and no, diesel is not like honey, because for winter it is made different so it stays liquid up to -35°C. I think this car has also compression problem...

Возьмите мультиметр и измерьте питание на проводах. Когда лампа не горит нагрев продолжается. Многочисленные повороты ключа только уничтожают реле, лучше подогрева от этого не будет. Попробуйте просто повернуть ключ и подождать 20-30 секунд, эффект будет сильнее

The glowplug bus must be broken. Had that happening on my Audi.
