Pigeons are absolutely amazing creatures! Did you know, they do *not* poop when flying, so no need to be afraid of them pooping on you when they fly over head. Even cooler, they have served valiantly in many wars, often saving many lives when no other form of communication was possible (planes being shot down, radio signals out, etc). They were used as messenger birds. Amazing! They also mate for life and are very loving, affectionate babes.
Yes.... correct! They're wonderful creatures 👍
I know..i love them 😍
@@therighteous84 you know if a bird poops on ur arm its good luck, dont u?
I all birds I can communicate with pingoens and they come to me I love them
Facts, this animal are beautiful ❤️
Awwww, I would've adopted him! I always feed the wild pigeons at home :,)
Having a pigeon is a lot harder than you'd think. Of you only have one, out will probably bond with you, and it will need a lot of time with you. Otherwise it will become depressed, and it will show signs of depression, like pulling feathers, and biting. If your pigeon bites you, you give it more love. I have to work, so when I come home, I double up on the love. If I have to workout, or go shopping, I always go home to pick up my pigeon first. They are flock animals, and they are always happy when they are around their fllock. Even when I travel to triathlons, or when my wife and I go on a trip domestically, I take my pigeon with me. We're still working on getting him in-cabin on a foreign trip.
Clover Pijee
So it’s like a dog?
It’s bad luck to keep them at home so it’s better if you buy one or make one ok hope this helped
@@cloverpijee3114 what type of pigeons can you adopt
@تلاوة القران - Alafasy ok 😆
This guy says exactly what I have found out "Pigeons teach you a lot about life !" They are amazing birds 👍🕊
Such a cute bird. If he were around here, I would adopt him.
Had a pigeon once that got a hair wrapped around her tongue. Managed to get the hair off without causing any injury, but it was pretty disturbing to see how easily something as insignificant as a strand of hair can cause such great harm.
Yes!!!. I often find them with bits of cotton and string around their toes. So I have to perform an operation to get it off. It digs right into their skin. Very painful. They even lose toes and sometimes the whole foot. We have to make sure we think of animals and throw our rubbish out responsibly. ❤
The pigeon looks so calm
Everyone hates pigeons, pigeons gets killed by anything... Thanks for saving him
Cécilou I ❤pigeons and I have one called max
Cécilou Not everyone hates them, it just seems that way sometimes. There are still plenty of people left in the world that have some empathy and compassion for creatures like pigeons. (Mike Tyson is one.) All anybody has to do is put out food and enough water for them to wash themselves, and in a very short time they will be amazed at the transition. They don't like being dirty and nasty any more than we do, and they have as much self respect as anything that lives. All they need is the opportunity to do something about their situation. They're pretty lovable once they get clean and fed. I have about 50 or so that visit with me in the morning and evening and I will say God help any stupid creep that tries to harm them. They're my little friends and I'll defend them by any means necessary. I already told one idiot "You want to hassle the pigeons? Why don't you go over to Mike Tyson's house and harass his birds? Let me know how that works out for you!"
Cécilou i like pigeons
They are very underrated, they are amazing birds :(
ummmm..... Ceilou that's not true, pigeons are one of nature most agile and fastest long flyers, it is very rare for them to get injured by cars and stuff. The only way for them to get injured is either they are sick or they got attacked by their natural predator or someone tried to catch them and hurt them.
Also I like pigeons too :) and I agree, more people should like pigeons.
People who care about animal walfare always restore my faith in humanity🙂
WBF volunteer here. They do such wonderful work with pigeons. So glad that this bird made it there.
Thank you! So much love. I would for sure have taken him if I were still living in NY. Thanks for your love. Spread the love of these totally brilliant and hugely lovable birds.!!
Rescued an injured pigeon in September. Both feet were injured, one with a ball of string and the other curled inward. Glad to say he is in fine fettle. He visits our home everyday and we sure look forward to his visits.
A beautiful bird. I adopted a pigeon that could not fly and had it for a year until it just died recently. An amazing and wonderful experience.
Thanks for saving me :)
Derpy Pigeon oh hi pigeon I lov pigeons so much
It looks very calm during the inspection at the vet.
as waltenberg i can confirm
This rings so true to what I've experienced with my rescues. They really do teach you a lot about life and they do grow to be very comfortable with you. My little old man was immediately very comfortable and chill be handled.
I hope someone adopted him
I LOVE pigeons and doves, thanks for saving him! I always feed pigeons, they are my favorite 💗
This was so good. You looked after Derek so well! We found a pigeon too, and this really helped. Well done!
Thank you for saving him!
Thank you so much for sharing humanity. The pigeon is so cute!!
I love that I hear an African collared dove in the background in that clinic! Thanks for saving him! I rescued a dove and an injured pigeon and can definitely relate 😄
Thats impressive! How do you know that it was an African collared dove?
What an Awesome Vet..Great Guy
WBF is a great place to take injured wildlife. I've taken many pigeons to see Rita and her staff of volunteers.
The Kirk I wish we had something like this in Las Vegas. So far I have been able to render a bit of very basic first aid on some dislocated legs and wings, but I'm nowhere near anything like what you'd call a professional vet. A lady showed me how to save one that had been poisoned and that was very cool, but it would be great if there was a better way to deal with more serious injuries. Right now I have about a 50 per cent recovery rate which is way better than zero, but I really get attached to the little guys and I want to do more because having to bury them is heart breaking. Undertaker detail is my least favorite of all.
Thank you for loving him.
Could have lowered the background music can't hear what the vet are saying, otherwise great job saving the bird ^^
So cool! Vets are wizards. They can diagnose problems in so many different species without all those fancy exams, tests and their inability to speak. Hats off to all vets and to all those who care about the life forms of this planet.
Beautiful
Me and my wife have saved several wild pigeons, who always seem to arrive on our doorstep ( well, back yard actually ) whenever they are injured.
We haven't got the knowledge to fix their wings, nor is there any charity within a reasonable distance, but the last two eventually flew again after weeks of living in a safe zone at the back of our house.
The pure black one still comes back sometimes and stays the night in windy weather and always for food.
thank you, good girl, for saving the pigeon.
I would adopt him, if I would live there... he's such a cute and good pigie
I saved a male one couple months ago. I called him Havana. We live together ❤️
You are a good person!
Awwww I really wanna keep and pet that Pigeon !!!!
Thank you for getting me out of the bag human
I wish I could rescue pigeons like that!
2:44 I hear a collared dove. I love those
It sounds more like a laughing dove to me!😀 But whatever it is - it's totally adorable!😊🐦💕
The cooing in the background is from a domestic Ringneck, which is descended from the African Collared Dove (Streptopelia roseogrisea). In France, they are "Laughing Turtledoves"after their excitement call, and the Eurasian Collared Dove is the "Turkish Turtledove". Eurasian Collareds and domestic Ringnecks can hybridize, and their offspring are fertile through any number of generations.
The Senegal or Palm Turtledove (Spilopelia senegalensis) is sometimes called "Laughing Dove" in the UK. This is a smaller and darker bird than ECDs and most domestic Ringnecks, with a slightly longer and broader tail relative to its' size. The display plumage on the neck is a wide area of rusty orange spotted with black on the sides of the neck, instead of the blackish gray and white nape collar of ECDs and Ringnecks. The song is a very soft series of coos that rise then fall in pitch, somewhat resembling gentle chuckling.
Dios bendiga las personas que ayudan a esos animalitos
Awww Derek. I'd adopt u buddy but I'm all over in Switzerland :(

R u still with her?
Poor little pigeon, he is so adorable
I love pigeons.
a lovely trio of pigeon, lady and derek
He is so relaxed. Cute little bird
Oh he is so cute, I had one just like him, which also was unable to fly because got hit by a car and had a dislocated shoulder (wing). You did so fine by saving him, otherwise he would have ended up sooner or later being hit by a car in that place where he was. Regarding the fingers getting into strains and hair, yes, it usually happends to them in their nest, they gather all sorts of things to make their nest and often it contains hair or strings, and they usually perform a certain dance with their legs in the nest that makes those hairs round up their fingers and starts swelling and after a time they fall. I often catch pigens which I see having that problem and with scissours I cut the hairs or strains and release them afterwords. I apologise but English is not my first language, kindest regards to pigeon loving people!
He can't fly? I rescued 4 pigeons whit broken wing, two of they are called Juanita and Blacky

Sometimes they just need to rest in a quiet place for a time in order to recover.
hi, there I was just wondering how you get rid of the fly-louse under the birds wings since they run so quickly and look so creepy (and feed on blood) I can't really catch them?
Me: finds 100 pigeons in a grain bin, and closes the top.

That house dove laughing and then cooing in the middle of the hospital scene

Bravo pour ce beau sauvetage et merci pour lui 🥰
I saw one today it was so sick it just stood there facing the corner behind the shopping centre 😢wish I could have helped but I didn't know how or had the right tools 😞
Good job!
Ian Phillips I was at the bus stop, talking with this really cool old lady who must have been in her 90's. I was telling her about fixing a pigeon's dislocated leg, and how we had saved one that had been poisoned. She just smiled and said " it feels pretty good to take care of something besides yourself, doesn't it?" Oh yeah, She really nailed it. Nobody could have said it better. Thank God for the old folks. Cherish them while they're still here.
Cute!
Good job
Did Derek get adopted??
His name is John
He is a very good pigeon
Aww poor thing
so nice
*some* humans are good
you are one of them
If anyone wants a pidgeon... I have one. gammy wing.....can fly but just doesnt. Get in touch if you want it.
More people need to learn that hair is the cause for the amputated feet on those pigeons. When I was a child I was always wondering why I saw many pigeongs with amputated feet.
I have very long hair. I never knew that hair is one of the main reasons why I see pigeons without feet until now. If I would've known earlier I would've been more careful not to throw some of my hair strands away outside 😟
Love how they grab pigeon like potato
