My parents rescued a pigeon when I was a teenager, and he lived to be 23 years old. He was the sweetest, most affectionate puppy bird. My mom made him a diaper so he could fly around the house without leaving a trail, and he followed me everywhere. He would cuddle and play with one of the cats, and he loved to take baths in a foil tray my mom kept for that purpose. I miss him, and it warms my heart to see your little pigeon.
Your mom is amazing. Tell her Thank You for being so kind to mother nature's most over looked speicies, pigeons are often thought of garbage birds that carry disease. We know that not true so hearing your mother's story was so nice. God Bless
@@anneN0221 I've been rescuing pigeons for over twenty years, now. "Smart" doesn't begin to cover them. I recently raised one from babyhood -- the parents rejected him, I don't know why. He thought of me as his momma, as I raised, fed, cleaned and gave him companionship. Then one day, I was washing my face as he watched me. I have a huge bathroom mirror. He was admiring himself, and looking at me while I watched him. Suddenly, I saw his face get sour and I thought, "Oh oh." I was right ; suddenly he determined I was _Not the Momma_ ! Did you know there are only seven species that recognize themselves in a mirror? And only one avian species? Yep -- that's right: pigeons. I know, because I witnessed it first hand. I am now officially " *Not the Momma* ". It is sad, but I knew it was coming. Oh, well. He grew up and got married, as they all do. I'm never invited to their weddings. I love them all, anyway.
YO ADORO A LOS PICHONES HE TENIDO 2 QUE LLEGARON A VIVIR 20 AÑOS Y ES GRACIAS A ELLOS QUE APRENDI A AMAR Y RESPETAR A LOS ANIMALES.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful childhood story!!❤

Pigeons are seriously one of, if not the most underrated bird, I love them so much
Pigeons are incredibly intelligent.
That's true. ❤
One must live with them a while to understand what you say.
I rescue and rehabilitate injured pigeons. They are really smart and I absolutely love 💕 when they get better and are able to leave their new nest! Ironically they still come back every now and then to let me know they are doing okay on their own🥰
As u can c from my pic, i love pigeons!!! This makes my heart so happy…im in nyc and lots ppl treat them bad here….i took this pic bc i was secretly feeding this one (ppl do not like u to feed them here! Lol) and looked like was dancing
Tami...could you possibly help me PLEASE.🌼
I live in Arizona, been feeding the birds for 4+ years.
One of my regulars has a broken right side feather dragging on the ground.
This is day 4 of her broken feather.
She can still fight and eat, and fly with no issue.
My ? is can I remove it without hurting her, or do I just observe her and let nature do her job?
Sorry for the rambling, but I'm worried for her.
@@daisyelmir1289 you can probably bring it to the vet
@@LifeOdysseyMotivation
Wish I could, they want $ up front.
No...I'm NOT asking for that.
Just some advice, please.🌼
@@daisyelmir1289 don’t pull out the injured feather 🪶 Let nature take it’s course. Eventually it will come out. Thank you for taking care of them.

Herme’s flying accuracy is insane- her precision through doorways is amazing! What a beautiful family ✨

So cute ♥️
Caught myself smiling all the way and then some !
I just love love how she'd make a sharp left turn to go inside..adorable, just adorable❤️❤️❤️
Yes 🌸 :))
IKR so cuteee 🥺😍
"That's my bird up there..." This was so beautiful 🥺 I love pigeons (and raccoon, possums, and other animals that are oddly considered bad or "gross"). The ones with the worst reps are the cutest, honestly
I do too. Although I won't mess with a wild raccoon unless precautions are taken. They can be quite vicious.
Possums on the other hand are pretty chill & probably won't bite you. Especially if your careful. Also their blood temp is generally too low to carry rabies.
I'm partial to skunks too. I always wanted to have one as a pet. But I don't think I could care for it properly. Same with an ocicat. Even though they have no wildcat blood. They're just very athletic.
Plus I already have one more cat than I'm supposed to. Tigger was a friend's former cat & the guys that had him suddenly didn't want any cats. He's an incredibly sweet & loving senior kitty. An orange tabby.
I just had to tell the world that I'd only consider a very special kitty that was orange. I don't regret it though.
I love the fact that so many people have freeflying birds
Clipping a bird's wings is on the same level as genital mutilation in humans. Stupidest practice. Makes no sense. Your pet isn't a piece of furniture to stare at.
@@ElMoShApPiNeSs
You are totally wrong
Clipping a birds wings for the right reason is fine but I don't recommend it
Don't get me wrong, clipped birds can still fly fine
Like if a breeze carries them
@@pratibhaaa7265 If you don't want your bird to fly you shouldn't have a bird.
@@ElMoShApPiNeSs
I don’t recommend it
How come u literally have a profile pic of birds in a cage?
This pigeon is going to have a way better life than it would've growing up on the streets! People forget that they are domesticated doves, so seeing them out on their own is like seeing a stray cat.
Pigeons are able to fly back to their nest from hundreds of miles away! People used to send Pigeons to places they would receive messages from in the future. Once a message needed to be sent, they would attach the message to the Pigeon belonging to the recipient, and it would fly right home! I believe the record carrier Pigeon could carry messages about 500 miles.
What a wonderful story, so funny to see her play with the dog

Beautiful Mom
So beautiful relationship
Sad that so many see pigeons as dirty pests. They are very smart and beautiful.
I feed 2 pigeons who come in my balcony everyday
I never saw them as pests, I have actually saved a couple myself by brining injured pigeons to a wildlife rescue. However, I did think they were unintelligent, and incapable of forming a true bond with a human. I'm happy to admit I was obviously wrong. What an amazing bird.
pigeons are the best pets for people that love to farm i think
They are not dirty, the live in a dirty places where humans trash things I saw many time that they are sick due to humans uncleaned places.
Pigeons can be beautiful, but they're not smart at all. About as smart as a rock. But that's OK.
my background: 8 years of pigeon ownership
It’s amazing how animals bond with humans and other animals. That dog is a gentle giant!
This is So Beautiful. It really shows that we can all live together in harmony. Animals, humans, All of us.
Oh my god a pigeon with a doberman bodyguard.Hilarious and sweet , great lady 🐦🐦🐦🐦🐦🐦 Hermes is Xena's home pigeon girl.
Pigeons are extemely intelligent and very loving birds.
Now THIS is a story I can get behind!
I have 2 pigeons that visit my bird feeder. A hawk kept trying to get them, & they outsmarted him by coming down to feed very late at night. It really surprised me and I was glad to see they were safe.
So amazing how they can get along!
They are meant to be soulmates!
I don't know why, but the way she flies back into the house through the door really had me loughing.
Thank you for saving her! She certainly would have died if you hadn't helped her!
I am speechless. All I can say is that's an incredible bird and an amazing dog.
God bless this lady, she (unlike probably a lot of people) chose to save the bird instead of just passing by. As someone who had a 10% chance of living at birth, I know how it feels to have all odds against you, and I’m glad that this woman decided to give that pigeon the second chance at life I also got. Awesome video, can’t wait to see more rescues!
That's a heart touching story. Thank u for sharing. May our Holy Father continue to bless u as u give ur life into His hands!!!

It’s so cute how she flies into the house. Adorable.
Rescuing birds is so kind.
After the love and care you give to this bird, you feel the gratitude-- they come back to you.
Yes!! Birds are so intelligent. People just underestimate them. I love this video how Hermes has his flock. I'm so glad you found one another.
Many people see pidgeons as rats with wings, but they are pretty amazing birds, very smart and can be really affectionate. In my city, disturbing pidgeon nests or killing pidgeons is forbidden. It's not a protected animal by national law, but each city and region can decide on its own about wildlife management.
This…this is beautiful!
People, in the comments, seem surprised that pigeons are affectionate. ALL living things can be loving, if we just take the time to let them know WE CARE.
Except fungus 💀
Amazing !!! I love how the pigeon isn't ever on a leash. This bird wants to be with this amazing pack. God Bless 🙏. This is absolutely beautiful.

This happened to my family and a baby bird. It was roasting on the sidewalk in a heatwave, also about to be stepped on. We named him Mozenbeak & he was the coolest bird ever. He had a great life with us.

Unlike other rescued animals that go back into the wild, I’m not sure if a pigeon would. We all have heard of homing-pigeons that come back from hundreds and hundreds of miles away. Looks like they, she and her dog, have a friend for life.
a little bit of care goes a long way even in nature ☺️

That's truly amazing how well your dog behaves with your Bird!
You really do have two incredible pets!
just rescued two baby pigeons, that had been moved from their nest on a broken window ledge ,that a workman had repaired and he had left them by a rubbish bin in a cardboard box, beautiful small creatures, taking them to a wildlife sanctuary tomorrow, as he has offered to care for them and I didnt know what to do.
Amazing how any animal can become domesticated.
Well, pigeons are domesticated birds like dogs and cats.
Loved each and every moment of it! 💖
I'm born/raised in Brooklyn & I have NEVER/EVER seen a baby pigeon. You would think with all the pigeons that call Brooklyn Manhattan and the surrounding boroughs their home I would've seen at least one baby pigeon in my life & I have never seen one... until your video.

This channel does great work helping♡♡♡
Thank You for being a good person.
We had a pigeon out on our porch resting for awhile. We noticed it seemed to maybe have an injured foot. Suddenly a hawk appeared out of no where and started to attack the poor pigeon. Our dog shot out of the door and scared the hawk. The pigeon took off, running down the sidewalk with the hawk flying above it and my husband and I were running after it. Thank goodness we were able to rescue it and took it to a bird wildlife rescue. Be careful of birds of prey when taking little Hermes outside. They are so quick...
Such a heart warming story - thank you so much for rescuing this sweet baby, and kudos to your sweet dog. Love this.
Xena is the best girl. Despite the fact that I see dozens of videos per day of big dogs mothering every species under the sun, it never fails to impress me just how adaptable and in synch with our intentions they are. Not only that, but crazy smart. Xena knows other birds are potential threats and scares them off.
