  • French gemcutter Victoria Raynaud talks about her experience as a gemcutting apprentice in Geneva when she was 14, working in a Swiss gemcutting atelier, and then getting hired as a fabrication specialist at GIA Bangkok before starting her own company. At age 30, she is one of the youngest master gemcutters in the world.

    It's great hearing from Victoria who is too often, in the background and not really saying much in many of Justin's videos.
    Having a video dedicated to Victoria specifically and hearing her opinions and expertise is Excellent.
    Well Done.

    Those were such beautiful and interesting shapes! I like interesting. They were so beautiful and you have the skill and the training to be able to carry it forward and do interesting without compromising the color or size, or the light play, in a stone. Thank you Justin. Your wife is amazing!

    Suspected this for some time. :-) There is as much to learn from one as the other. Please don't make this your last video.

    could you post what and where to buy that machine?

    • @JustinKPrim
      @JustinKPrim  Год назад +1

      You can’t buy this machine anymore. They stopped making it a long time ago.

      @@JustinKPrim do you know if the machine still has a patent on it preferably one that's lapsed cause that machine might be worth trying to Recreate after seeing some of the stones she's cut guessing with desent speed and accuracy. The one's in the spokane rock rollers club are polymeric and Ultra-tec faceting machinings. Mine is a Tom thumb not very impressed due to the poor quality in machining, odd features, and my stones always need to be cheated to get everything right which is frustrating to say the least.

      @@timf6366 I’m not sure. I tried to look before but it’s not as easy to find Swiss patents as it is for US patents. I know there is one but haven’t found it.
