This video shows just how a decent cut can do so much for a gemstone. When I first saw the tourmaline Crystal I thought, "Meh, looks like a bit of green glass." But that cut has turned it into something extremely beautiful!
8:06 genuinely thought that was a ghost whispering for a second 😅😂 but she did a fantastic job with that aquamarine!! You must have felt so proud 🥰 Also as a dummy who knows nothing about gem cutting or how light bends in general, the reveal at the end absolutely blew my mind! When I saw the words “pixel cut” for a gemstone this is pretty much what I pictured it looking like in my head, but I didn’t think there was actually a way to achieve such a cool optical illusion on a stone!! When you tilt it at the end it genuinely looks like tiny little Tetris blocks falling into place! So neat and pretty to look at~!
Nice to see how you worked your way through unusual shapes of the rough stone and crystal flaws within the lattice. Waiting to see a video on how you plan the end result and the understanding and imagination required for a desired refraction pattern.
@@stuartgems7593 you’re welcome, I love that bar cut. I’d love to get into faceting, do you have a video about basics for beginners and what equipment etc? Many thanks
@@JulianMakes I do not have a video on that but I am a sales rep or ultratec who makes the faceting machine I use check out my website www.stuartgems.com
the green stuff is wax and is applied with heat i used glue the second time as it prevents misalignment due to the wax softening with the heat needed for wax to wax transfer
Splendid work, I've never seen a pixel cut before. The light play is really excellent.
Thats how you make a gem out of something unremarkable. A treat to watch for hobbyists and professionals alike. Thank you❤️
Wow, thank you!

I love this, love how you preserved the character of the original stone in the cut version.

A beautiful cut for a gorgeous stone!
Thank you! Cheers!
Brilliant idea for the end-girdle facets. This would even look good with an open-C (and maybe add some weight to the end-product). Nice!
Thanks for sharing some idea!!💡💎

How much do you sell this final gem for?
@WTFarmGirl the finished gem is for sale on my website for €5k
@@stuartgems7593 I love the uniqueness of the cut!
When you transferred, it looks like you used a different adhesive than the one you had holding the tourmaline on the original dop, why?
