    This has to be my favorite video so far. Andrew, the editor for Hedron Rockworks, came to town and helped film this video. While I had an eye on cutting the die Andrew was capturing amazing footage over my shoulder. I hope you enjoy watching as much as we did crafting.

    I really enjoy working with precious synthetic stones. They're much more affordable, yet the make-up is exactly like the natural stones except with much fewer flaws. Your dice videos (and accompanying music) is always a treat to watch. Thanks for another great video!

      You can usually get lab grown rubies with or without flaws. My impression is that inclusions actually cost more, because these rubies are usually made for scientific equipment and you want the clearest ones for that. I could by wrong about that tho

I’m from Russia, and it’s still fairly common to put a red star on the top of the fir tree when decorating (instead of something like an angel - religion being banned for a while there in the 20th century). When people hear Synthetic, they may think Fake. That's not Fake. It's an actual Real Ruby. And you desperately need to find a blacklight and shine it on there. You will understand why the moment you do....Make a short of it when you do!

    • @yngvildrthevoracious
      @yngvildrthevoracious 4 месяца назад +13

      It's funny because I read the wikipedia article about synthetic gemstones two months ago and I'm baffled anyone would not actually try and find out how you can synthesize rocks, I was actually so fascinated by the process I really was about to contact a lab to see if I could see it!

    • @shuichi28
      @shuichi28 4 месяца назад +13

      Isn’t the only difference between what people call “real” and synthetic is that synthetic are lab made and natural form naturally but they both basically go through the same process one is just a bit more faster?

    • @Hey-Its-Dingo
      @Hey-Its-Dingo 4 месяца назад

      @@shuichi28 Yes, but jewel companies have given synthetic gems a stigma, because they cost more to produce, so they have led a very long campaign to say that getting someone a synthetic gem is a lesser statement of love than a natural one. It sucks ass.

    The precision and artistry required to cut a ruby into a D20 shape is truly remarkable. The skill displayed in achieving such perfect symmetry and facets on such a challenging material is a testament to the cutter's exceptional craftsmanship and expertise. The result is not just a beautifully cut gem but a masterpiece that reflects both the inherent beauty of the ruby and the unparalleled skill of the artisan.
