This is the single most impactful Power BI video I have seen… anywhere. Many RUclipsers teach and demonstrate applications, but The creativity you apply to your solutions makes you a standout and front-runner among your peers. Awesome work!
John, thank you very much for the kind feedback :) really appreciate it!
Amazing!
He's the Paul Davids of Power BI :)
I haven’t even started the video but just by this comment I know it’s going to be good :)
He is terrific, but he learns from other youtubers who aren't as famous, and then makes their solutions more bite-sized, edited, and aesthetically-pleasing. No question he brings value, but it's always good to credit who you learned your tips and tricks from.
I have leaned a lot from you ! Your videos are condensed with small tricks and information that makes the watcher move forward quickly. Thanks you man !
That is great, I hope you continue posting more about these other tools such as Power Apps and Power Automate, and how they can help our Power BI Reports. Great video!
That's the plan! +1000 other topics ;)
Also, I know it is kind not what you are trying to show here, but it would be nice to see the steps of setting a simple excel table into the SQL server or Data Verse. Thanks!
I have seen dozens of videos talking about integration, but yours is the only one that actually teaches how to do it effectively. You are the best!!!
Thanks a lot Alan! This made my day!
That was such a helpful and useful tutorial. Thank you for being very clear 😊
I decide to watch all your videos. Its incredible! Cant wait to learn more about the difference between import and direct query. Sir, can you make a video of that? Big Thanks!
Bas you're a legend and have a great smile. Thanks for the vid
Amazing!!! Thank you so much for the excellent demonstration!
Right in time for my Project. Thank you @How To Power BI!
Great Tutorial, answers a lot questions. Thanks
I have watched many videos, good work here. Learning alot
Bas my man, you saved me big time with this video !! Very good content !!!
I deeply appreciate this video !!, thank you !!.
Very nice demonstration .Thanks for sharing.💙
Great content and super useful. Just a little comment, would be great if you can share the full screen instead of snips. It'll help us locate where things are. thanks a lot!
A quick tip: create a measure in powerbi for selected value, and pass that to powerapps. Like this you can add an overlay message in the powerapps, where if the passed measure value is blank or erro you can sho a message with "no item selected".
like this you will not have always the "first item" of the list ;)
Go
I'm looking for a video on how we can do that. Please help me with how i can set it as a new form by default and when i select it shows the related record to edit. I'm not using the gallery as shown in the video and a single screen for edit and adding a record
Thank you so much for sharing this. I was about to use only Microsoft form and have an URL reference from my PBI report. But this is so much better and updates the source right away!!! Great video!
Fantastic! Happy to hear it helped :)
Hi Bas, Really gained knowledge out of this video to implement at my work. The way you explained is really AWESOME... Thanks a million and keep going....
Hi, this was extremely helpful. Thank you so much! I really needed this, I'm currently working on something similar and you explained it so well. One question though: can I use a .txt file generated from an ETL job as the source dataset in Power Apps? Thanks!
Thanks so much for this Bas , This helps a lot !
Excelente explicación y paciencia para brindar buena e importante información. Te agradezco mucho, de seguro que lo pondré en práctica. Abrazo! BMAZ desde Buenos Aires - Argentina 😊
nearly 40k views but only 28k subs, cmon guys , this is amazing content!! Show Bas and the team some love
Thank you for sharing, inspiring seeing how you work, and passing knowledge…
My pleasure! thanks a lot for your kind words!
Love this! Clear, easy steps and some interesting stuff re refreshing data sources which was me to me. A bit about power apps subscription requirements for each option would be the icing on the cake.
thanks will keep this in mind for the next time :)
That's amazing. Our new ERP system sucks so I'm writing all these reports outside of the ERP for people, and this might open up a whole new world for editing back the data! My boss jokes that we're going to re-write the ERP slowly over the next 10 years, but....I'm not sure he's actually joking, hehe. Thank you!! Also, you're very peaceful and calming to watch :).
Great video, I ended up building something similar about 6 months ago! The data source I was using was import only and what I did was included a visual that appeared if the data set had been refreshed in the last 2 hours that said to the user not to refresh the data. Fortunately my power bi report wasn't having data entered it was more having dynamic parameters that were stored in OneDrive.
LOVED THIS! You are god sent!
Thank you so much!!
That’s great thank you for the thorough walk through!!
I wish there was a way for the user to just write directly in the cell and be able to copy paste down - like in excel
I was searching ALLLLL day for this solution on RUclips and through Google. I wish I had remembered that I received a notification for this video.... Oh how the stars align. Thanks Bas!!
Chris, glad to hear my timing was right, hopefully next time too :) take care
Great great great .... Video waiting this kind of video for so Long Thankyou very much ... This is much needed in every organization by financial team
So nice of you :) thanks for all the kind words!
Thank you sir. you are Genius. your video helped me to create my first power bi report integrated with power apps and power automate. God bless you sir. you are just amazing teacher. you make even the difficult topics very easy to understand.
Thanks a lot Bas. Really helpful
Amazing tutorial, congratulations! Thank you very much for sharing this
You're very welcome Matheus! happy you enjoyed it :)
Hi BAS.
I really like your videos.
I often run into a problem when I need to move the filter context to another page. But detailing is not applicable in my case, because it transfers all the filters of the original page, and not the one I need.
For example, I want to highlight on the first page a certain product that customers bought, but I don’t want to transfer the filter where and when they bought it. Those. I only need to sync the filtered ClientIDs.
It would be great if you cover this topic in your videos.
Thank you very much for your work!
Very useful. Thanks for sharing.👍
Very instructive video
Thanks a lot
Glad you liked it
I really enjoy your videos. They are complete and very enlightening! Could you please make a video on star schema in Power BI. It is a confusing topic. Please show a project on how to use it. Thanks!!
Fantastic, bro...thanks very much...
What a useful video, often a facility need to explain to people and now will just send them you video thanks excellent .
that's great to hear. Thanks for watching Amanda!😊
amazing video! Thanks for all the details!!
Glad you like it :)
Hi Bas, really interesting video and so simply explained. I am going to apply the learnings in current video. If you dont mind can you please tell how did you manage dividing the screen and show what you were typing at the same time while speaking. It will be of great help to me. Thank you.
Mindblowing Bas! Honestly I am very new to PowerBI and I am just slowly grasping the possibilites of it. Great video
:) wonderful, especially power apps integration opens up a whole new world! Good luck with it 😎
Very very very good! I will need to do something like this.
Thank you. This was super helpful.
How can this be modified to write to several cells in a column?
I would like to use this to validate records, but I would like to validate a selection set instead of a lone value.
This is incredible 👏 thank you for this video.
Amy, I am glad you liked it :) Power Apps are soooooo cool...
Thanks for sharing, its really helpful !!
You are welcome Sanket, glad it helped!
This is really helpful Bas, I will try to follow this step.
also check out the more recent video that I did on this topic -> ruclips.net/video/5Ohp79PLlM8/видео.html
Thanks for the video. I have been strugling with writeback for a few weeks. first time i notice you kind of "please work", face ... but i still think its quite tricky. thanks again, love your content
That's Great...Thanks for knowledge sharing...🙂
thank you Vijay😀
The scope of this solucion si really inmense, great video as always. Greetings from Argentina.
PD: Hope this year "editing tooltips" will be easy
Great video. I have worked with this myself and I have expirienced some of the limitations.
If your dataset contains large amounts of data it will not fit into the powerbiIntegration Object. The limit looks like it is 2000 records.
If you include multiple fields from your power bi model into the powerapps visual then each unique combination of values in those fields will be represented by a record in the powerbiIntegrationObject and the limit is still 2000 records.
This means that you will very fast run up against this limit and you will get no warning when you exeed it. The data will just be missing in the integration object.
Also when using direct query you have to be really carefull or prefornance will suffer.
Is there a possibility to have more than 2000 records in your source file?
@@EagelzOfficial Use Filter function on Datasource before apply the condition for specific item
You absolute legend thanks for this i was wondering why my dataset with 2.1 mil records refused to work
Best PowerBI Channel around
Thx!
I think you are the best thanks you help me a lot
😁i wish ;) .. thx !
Hi! Kinda new to Power BI here... first of all, great video! It gave me a lot of ideas on how to edit datasources way easily. I just have a question... does that DirectQuery option of refreshing on the spot also works with an Azure Databricks query?
This is Brilliant, for those people for whom the intial filtering of data set didn't work from desktop and you're scratching your head, you need to first upload the dashboard to the service and then it will work.
How do you do that?
Hi! Thanks for video. I have a question, can i edit summarized data in table with PowerApps? For example i need to edit summarized forecasts in table to view changes in whole year.
Thanks. Its helpful!!
Cool, happy i could help
Hey Bas!
Amazing work.... Love your videos,
Followed this and able to write back data!
Just an issue I'm getting that I want that bookmark way to pop up power app visual, but the selection made in the table doesn't carry along, any idea about this?
Thank you Bas, great content as always.
What would you say are the pros / cons of embedding PowerApps inside of PowerBI, versus embedding PowerBI inside a PowerApp through tiles?
Have a use case where a small team is responsible for reviewing a report, and adding comments on a monthly basis.
To use sql or dataverse at end you need pro power apps per user…
Very informative video. Do you have a video on how to delete an entry, not just edit it?
Nice video! I have a question, this works when we have a Direct Query? I mean with a connection to a cube on Analysis Services
This video is great, but have a quick question, should the datasource for powerBI and powerApps be the same?
Please clarify
Loved it
Hi Bas, Would you be able to show how to use Dataverse to add power app that will allow us to write back to PowerBI?
You are really awesome sir 🙂
Come on. This was great!!!!
I'm thinking in different solutions already into my project with this video.
Great stuff brother
Awesome! Good luck Willian :)
Thank you for sharing with us this helpful video. But how about creating a form to get changeable data and represent it in Power BI?
Great video and I decided to test this. I run into problem however, as the PowerApp is created to different environment than where my data is. This will require some investigation to find out if I move the app to another environment or define in Power BI which environment to use with Poweraps.
Hi Bas, thanks and what a greatest video I have ever seen for power bi. Just one question for integration, how could we write data from power bi to a sql server database. I am looking forward for the solution ❤❤
Great stuff! Thanks :-)
hi Alex, very happy you like it! :)
This video was very helpful for me! Is there a way to enable multiple filters? In your video, you show how to do it by Client ID. In my situation, I have two filters where the first is "customer" and the second is "region", and I want to have it so that users can writeback comments to "customer 1 + America" vs. "customer 1 + Asia".
Hi, many thanks to you!. I have a question, regarding using SQL database, it works on Powerbi Desktop, but when I went to PowerBI service, it didn't work and I can't see the app and the table as well. I tried to figure the issue out but I could not ...we'll be highly appreciated
Thanks!! Very insightful video!! Just a question, when you said that pro licenses has an 8 limit, is this per day? Month? Ever???
best power bi video ever!
Oh wow thanks Ian!
Awesome vid! My PowerBIIntegration is connected to a fairly large dataset. Any tips on how to apply a filter to the Item section to avoid the Delegation Warning?
Great video as always, just a quick question, is it normal for there to be almost a 5 minute delay after submitting the form and the visual refreshing? I have to hit refresh on the browser quite a few times before I see the update on my table visual. I am using the power automate method for refreshing my dataset.
Thank you for this video. Could you tell me if it's possible to use power apps to write back to let's say Excel or Smartsheet all the report data plus user's input IF the source of that report data is coming from Snowflake. I know that SF is a premium connector so would such a workaround be possible at all? If yes, would that just require Excel or Smartsheet as data source for power apps to be selected? Thank you!
Hi Bas, this is great. I would like to try it but it the Power App visual that you use is not available for me. Could it be that I need a newer version?
Awesome video!! It seems I am having trouble with the lookup formula. Using 'Goal_Id' where your client id went in the lookup formula. I am getting an error saying, "Expression Goal_Id eq null is not supported". Any insight on how to fix this?
Perfect solution
Thanks!!!
Hi Bas, great solution. thanks.. I am working on a report that has a SQL source. Because users dont have Premium licence, they cant write back to SQL. They will write back to a form in sharepoint. from here it can update the SQL. How do i load the app with the line i have selected. ie. data from PowerBIIntegration source?
is this a good work around?
Great explanation ! You are the only one explaining clearly. What I do not understand is if I have users in parallel logged in the system, if I can use the same Planning tool, to plan for example on different cost centers. So they do not plan on same data, but each one will input data on different cost centers. Can this be done in parallel ? So is the PowerBI application a central planning tool, or everyone should have for example the powerBi application sitting separate on a sharepoint folder dedicated to him/her ?
This is good. I am also using xls from one drive and able to update data however it does not reflect I power bi for about 30-50 sec even if I do manual refresh multiple times. Is there any work around for this or any setting needs to change
Power apps seems awesome .. 👌🏽 great tutorial! Where did yiu learn to use power apps? Are there courses? It seems pretty new and not much learning resources out there 🤓
I always loved your videos :-)
Thanks Philip :)
Great video.. thnkas a lot... even a year after it is published:
I have a questiion: the source data (excel) that I want to write back is connected to an dataflow and the report is connected to this dataflow. As consequence, the refresh would need to run in a sequence... Write back data to source excel --> refresh dataflow --> refresh dataset. Is there any intelligent solution for this?
Thx a lot
Hi Bas, thanks for showing us such an interesting workflow. I wonder if Power Platform allows to add a customization: to enable the editing form only for a user (or for a group of users), in the report, and let the rest to read-only the table
Yeah I was about to ask same question.... I wanted to restrict to only for few users
I'm looking for the same feature, have you been able to find your solutions?
Hi will the lookup work with matrix visual?
U r such a lovely amazing person ur videos are super amazing😮😮
Thank you so much 😀 and thanks for watching!!
Hey Bas, what about the sizing of the app, is it possible to make it smaller?
Hi,
This is really cool. After seeing your video, I am wondering if I can make something like a quote form with multiple line items in powerbi. Do you think this is something I can build using this tutorial? Love to take this offline if it helps to explain it.
Thanks
Thank you very much for supporting my channel :) much appreciated!
Hi Bas. Great job. I try to implement that for an "Internal Table" (Manual Table) inside my power Bi File. I can't find my fields to create a Forms. It Works from gallery. Is it possible to modify the content of "Manual Table" ? Thx. Regards.
congratulations!, very useful my friend!👌🤝🤝
great to hear, thanks Luis!☺
Thanks so much! It works ❤
One question, hope someone can help me out.. The app isn't sharp in my Power BI. Something with the size I suppose, but I cannot change the size. Anyone advise on how to handle this?
great video!
thanks, glad you enjoyed it :)
Hi Bas, the formula at minute '6:51'... what does it look like in case of connection to a sharepoint list ?
Hello Sir, I really like your teaching method. its amazing. you have a great knowledge. sir i have a small question though. the issue i encountered. say if you have an empty NULL cell in sql server table you can write it with power apps in power bi. but the problem is once you write something you can change it with some other value but you cant make it NULL again. I will be thankful if you can help in this sir. Regards.
Hello do you have a video on how to set up the last option with Message button?
