    Lyrics on Sorbian language:
ja sym tu ty sy tam
    wočinju durje
    murje přestupuju
    ja sym tam njejsy sam
    pokaž mi što so ći
    snano mi tež lubi
    njewóbroćo du ja sobu
    moje porsty w twojich tča
    kruće dźeržo twoju ruku
    njewobroćo z tobu sobu
    uuh z tobu sobu
    nječakam strach nimam
    tebje dla doprědka
    widźu će słyšu će
    dychanje spěšniše
    widźu će słyšu će
    dychanje spěšniše
    nječakam strach nimam
    tebje dla doprědka

    Translation
I am here you are there
I open the door climb over the wall
I am there you are not alone
    show me what you
    maybe I like too
not looking back I walk with you
    my fingers are in yours
    holding tightly your hand
not looking back along with you
    uuh along with you
    I won't wait i'm not afraid
    because of you forward
I see you I hear you
    the breath faster
I see you I hear you
    I won't wait I'm not afraid
    because of you forward

Beautiful. Sung in the language of my paternal grand mothers, which sadly was never passed onto us in Australia. Feels a strong part of me. My great grand parents were from Tauer and named Britza.

It's beautiful. I'm fascinated with similarity of our two languages Sorbian and Serbian so I translated verse by verse so that other could see it too. I try to find the best context helping with english translate, but probably its not 100% the right context. Even still, there is a lot similarities.
First line is Sorbian and then Serbian.

Technically, Sorbs are closest to Poles, but honestly, who cares? We Slavs are all brothers and we should all help each other out. I wish to see the day when Lusatia will gain its independence!

Linguistically yeah , how a language sounds is dictated by climate and influence , historically they wouldn't call themselves Serbs if they didn't have something in common with them.
Language isn't be all end all proof of a historical tie , language just points you in a general direction.Even so as this person translated this you can clearly see the similarities , multiple lines the same , in some parts it just sounds like a dialect. And the words he used are from modern Serbia , if you found some older worlds you would be susrprised how many similar words there are
Actually thanks to language and genetics I changed my mind about "Slavic migrations " yeah they probably did happen in smaller numbers but the people we know today as Slavs lived where Slavs live today, actually a lot of Slavs were assimilated so you could say that Slavs were invaded and lost land through history.
And I personally think that Slavs only started calling themselves that in 6th/7th century when they came in contact with Germanic tribes, sloven meaning literate and Nemac/Nemec meaning mute I don't think there can be any dispute as to why they called each other like that , simply to say , you can understand be as I am sloven he is the nem (mute) one.

@@thegallanonim Sorbs are closest to Czechs actually. It was the Polabs who were the closest to the Poles, but they've fully assimilated, meaning language and culture have died out. And Lusatia gaining independence is impossible. The region could never stand on it's own. There are literally only 60.000 Sorbs left and it's one of the more underdeveloped regions in Germany and a lot of young people are moving away. And they don't even want independence. They aren't only Sorbs, they're Germans, too.

@@sif_2799 Yeah thats true. The land we came from is called Bojka by Serbians or "White Serbia". Which i think is roughly the area of todays Czechia. Slovenes came from the same area. But Slovene language holds more similarities with Czech and Slovak, while ours is more similar with Sorbian. Anyway we all know we hold the same roots. That part of Slavic history is something we know very little about.

because they would get confused with Serbs. Sorbs are to Serbs what the Angles were to the English.. Related peoples separated by geography and more than 1000 years of evolution.
