1969 VW Beetle Restoration-Welding New Front Quarter Panel-PART 15

Click here for the latest update on my 1969 VW Beetle, as we are finishing up all of the metal work.
While I was sanding down the front compartment I noticed the front quarter panel has some major repairs that need to be done. Instead of hammering it, I decided to replace the whole panel. We started by getting a new OEM hood for $40 but it already had a lot of repairs. Once we had the hood we started fitting it with the fender to make sure it was a perfect fit. Then we did a cut right between both panels and spent about 5 hours welding it. At that point we needed to do an additional 40 spot welds around the front apron, bottom of the apron and around the gas tank bracket to finish the job.
This was not easy at all but I'm glad we were able to finish and have great results in the end. I hope this video is helpful for anyone ever doing a repair of this size. If you have any questions make sure to drop them below in the comment section.
