"What does that mean? Huh? China is here? I don't even know what the hell that means. All I know is, this Lo Pan character comes outta thin air in the middle of a goddam alley, while his buddies are flyin' around on wires cuttin' everybody to shreds, and he just stands there, waitin' for me to drive my truck straight through him, with light comin' out of his mouth?"
You just listen to the old Porkchop Express on a dark and stormy night ok. When some wild-eyed, eight-foot-tall maniac grabs your neck, taps the back of your favorite head up against the barroom wall, and he looks you crooked in the eye and he asks you if ya paid your dues, you just stare that big sucker right back in the eye, and you remember what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like that: "Have ya paid your dues, Jack?" Yes sir, the check is in the mail
This is why John Carpenter's movies ruled in the 80's! To this day I would love to hear any band do what he; Tony Carey and Tony Banks did for the piano; keyboard and synthesizer!
I would love a remake of this film. This film was a timeless camp movie classic! They knew how to make a good B movies back in the 1980's. Big Trouble was funny as hell, it had decent effects and great martial arts sequences.
funny thing alot of people don't know is that john carpenter went to school for music and got a degree in it. him being a director was a completely on the spot thing. then he happened to turn into one of the best story telling directors of all time.
holy crap! thank you so very much for uploading! im a big carpenter-fan from germany and the stupid official soundtrack of the movie which was released here during the 80s didnt feature this part of the score! so since this was by far my favorite bit of the whole soundtrack i still had to watch the actual movie scene over and over again to listen to it. now those times are over :-) brilliant piece of electronic music. seriously, thank you so much!!
lamasu What’s even more genius? On the commentary track, Carpenter and Russell talk about how the whole “almost run over” camera sequence was filmed IN REVERSE!! They started with the camera close to the actors and pulled AWAY from them, and then simply reversed the direction of the shot in post!
Mortal Kombat took so much from this movie, everything from sorcerer lo pan trying to appease the emperor (shang tsung, shao khan) to the pillars that represent the san fransisco bridge in the picture as the model for character stone pillars you move up on in the story mode
@AbyssDeathGhost I've been saying the same thing for about 20 yrs. I remember seeing this film in theaters with my dad's brother while he was visiting from Jersey. His was a big fan of Carpenter and his tech noir themed characters (i.e. Romero who presented the warden the President's finger) Shortly after seeing the film my uncle and aunt were hellbent to San Fransisco and it's infamous China Town. I always said I wanted a pair of glasses like that to sport around driving my import tuner.

John Carpenter usually scored all of his movies on top of directing and sometimes writing. Totally under appreciated filmmaker.
He's my favorite director

I hear this track in my head ALL THE GODDAMN TIME. "Make moves" music
One of my all time favorite movies. It was slotted for a sequel and what a shame that never happened.
I especially hear this track every time I go to an airport, and I start casually checking out the surroundings looking for Trouble.
...in litte china
Big Trouble?
John Carpenter is not only good at Directing movies but he is also a great composer.

best shot of the movie is during this scene... they almost get ran over, cut to the men in the car, cut to Mao Yin crammed in trunk.
lamasu John Carpenter is a genius. That whole sequence is dope.
I agree it looks amazing the sequence of shots along with the great soundtrack.
lamasu What’s even more genius? On the commentary track, Carpenter and Russell talk about how the whole “almost run over” camera sequence was filmed IN REVERSE!! They started with the camera close to the actors and pulled AWAY from them, and then simply reversed the direction of the shot in post!
Oh absolutely! :D

The airport scene was so badass. The lords of death, dude in glasses, balisong dude, tripping Jack up, then racing at them in a red sports car
Jack: "which way did they go?"
Gracie: "Umh (points) !"
Jack: "uh...Call the cops!"

We are in his debt, he showed great courage
The new version of The Shape Stalks from the new Halloween reminds me of this.
Perfection.
INDEED!!!
I honestly think this one bassline is single-handedly responsible for the entirety of the Stranger Things soundtrack sounding the way it does.
For the 8 who disliked this..
