The Sega Genesis version of ALTERED BEAST sported an excellent soundtrack that was quite faithful to the original arcade version, signifying a major leap forward in home video gaming under the 16-Bit era. Composer Kazuhiko Nagai managed to pull enough out of the Genesis' newfound YM2612 to create an atmospheric and memorable score that deserved a proper remaster. For this project, I stripped out all the layers of the song and ran them through a proper regimen of EQing, balancing and mastering. I've also added stereo effects to certain elements of each song - tastefully - so as not to take too many liberties with the existing source material. The objective was to widen out the sound palette and create a more engaging and rousing score. Don't forget to SUBSCRIBE and hit the NOTIFICATION BUTTON to help VGM VAULT continue to grow!

Great remaster!! I think you hit an awesome balance of amplification and authenticity/blasting this on headphones feels like hearing the OST for the first time 😆
