In Jesus Christ most holy Spirit and name thank you for your time and trust in me I love you my beautiful friend and family and father my most holy family in heaven Amen to the words of the living God bless from heaven I believe
I played this as a little kid, I loved the soundtrack :} though we never really discussed it as kids. But I realize these days now how much i loved it, including the first track in fact it’s one of my fav
The music from Altered Beast was so far ahead of the 8-Bit games from Nintendo. When my friends and I heard, "Rise From Your Grave!" and then heard this amazing music with all the large sprites, all those colors, and all the parallax scrolling, we were absolutely amazed! All of us instantly wanted a Sega Genesis at that moment! Altered Beast on the Genesis was also BETTER than the arcade version - especially in terms of gameplay and play control. That is the way all conversions should be.
You Pops and I would pair well. I've been studying the basslines in this OST. As a bass player, they help ground the atmospheric melodies of this game's soundtrack
The composer to this soundtrack is Tohru Nakabayashi a.k.a Nak. All respect to Rick Wakeman but a Japanese game developer would not likely hire an english composer for a game they develop in Japan. Especially in the 1980's. All the best.
Takes place in the early era of christendom. Playing this game as a kid always reminded me of when I would go to Mass and the Catholic Church. A pious warrior for Christ.
I missed the part in the Bible about gorgeously muscled lycanthropic monsters battling cultists or whatever the plot of this game actually was. i just liked punching dudes as a wolf or bear man when i was like 6.
I enjoyed the Sega Genesis Altered Beast soundtrack....Too bad that every time I got one of those "Power up" balls, the music would restart from the beginning.
You don't hear the level start before level 2, the music complements that theme and not one. You messed up! Also the death theme which jams better than mj is missing
What people don't realize is that whoever had a Sega Genesis coming from 8 bit way before Sonic, EA and 2k games. Some people already had the Genesis since the beginning enjoying this superior synthesized music that we couldn't even begin to tell people how it sound. What matters is what your getting now over what your use to at a affordable price. Sega's arcade machines back in the day were in the same superiority category as Sony's Playstations now.
what an incredible soundtrack to an incredible game

At the moment... This still makes me uncomfortable
For me, there is nothing more nostalgic than this, Sonic 1, and Toejam and Earl
The melody at 4.45 always helps me to squeeze out one more rep or fight through leg pain during a sprint cycle. I love it so much.
3:23 is such a core memory. Pizza Hutt, jukebox, red plastic cups, parm cheese and red pepper shaker, and this god damned quarter chugger.
Yo SEGA classics are criminally underrated!
Level 1 Theme is killer. Nice!

Absolutely Killer Tunes! The soundtrack of my childhood
When I found out sega music was basically fm synth my mind was blown
My first arcade with 7 years in a bar....... Scary with first level of the cemetery
My favourites: Intro, Level 1 and ending. Also, Game Over, glad you added that one as well.
I still play this game to these days. And I did it yesterday. Great OST btw.
I remember playing a bit of this when i was little…

The sounds in this game are fm synthesis like a dx7 but in a smaller scale
I will sample some of them on my MPC ONE
This was the time when the commercial of Genesis does what Nintendo don't!!
Totally remember that commercial, Joe Montana was in it!
Who wrote this, Rick Wakeman? I still get anxious when I hear the boss music. I wonder if anyone ever transposed it to a full orchestra.
Rick Wakeman, I see you're a man of culture for knowing him.

La primera es canción tenebrosa que pasan las décadas y te sigue dando ese miedito
this is so crisp !!!
The boss theme sounds very dark on the pc engine version.
Some guy made a doom metal arrangement of stage 1, perhaps this entire soundtrack could get that treatment.
I'm glad my brother got me into his Sega Genesis back in 2014
Taking me back.. SHIIID 🥴 awesome 😎

Somebody should make an orchestral version of level 1. Would be legendary
Level 1 theme song, if redone with a better sound program and slowed down a bit, would be the perfect entrance song for any sport.

I wish I could hear this in the original instrumental State before it was made into 16 bit
Is this not quite identical to the Genesis or is the emulation inaccurate?
I'll get a metal version of this made when I figure out why my Reaper plugins don't sound right.
