    If it only has 5000 miles on oil pump and it's an oem type r pump, id go with that, I'm glad the rotating assembly got all balanced out. Love your work, you know what to budget and know what not to cheap out in, awesome, you ftw.

  • @CesarsCarCorner
    @CesarsCarCorner 6 лет назад +2

    My take of something that you had planned, yes get a new oil pump to have that self insurance that the engine going to last. Another thing, high compression and turbo don’t usually mix, so build that type r on the side and make that your turbo motor and just enjoy the all motor. Awesome episode (if that what you call them i don’t know ) video about your plans, I enjoy the content cause your real and live in the normal world we all do and do what you can!

    Nice, did that set up before with the OEM type R pistons ( B18LSV). I had no problem with Piston and Valve Clearance though I did clay the pistons to make sure no issues with clearance .

  • @JDMErDay1

    flat face valves equal higher compression but less revability, dome'd valves equals less compression but higher ability to rev higher and smoother because the valve itself is just lighter.

  • @cafrogg2016
    @cafrogg2016 6 лет назад +2

    Cams: Lay them down on the table horizontally and take a close up topographical picture of the dizzy ends. The grooves and such identify the stock Bseries cams. I think ffsquad has pictures to help identify. ffsquad has great tech info. I can figure that out for you too.
    E85: Look into fuel pumps and injectors. Possible issues with deterioration of parts when storing E85. Some guys pickle the system with pump gas when storing. There are pumps and injectors that hold up to E85 better then your basic Walbro 255 pump and basic 1000cc injectors. I have ID1050X injectors. But you can always SEND IT and have fun.

    Just a FYI, a lot of times you dont need a new oil pump as some will say. Take the pump apart, look up what the clearances should be between the oil pump gears, if it is with in spec, simply replace the seal and your good to go.

  • @GarageRats
    @GarageRats 6 лет назад +1

    Holy shit bro. You are gonna have a lot of fun! I think the B20 sleeve issue is only if you boost it really. That block guard should keep you plenty safe with a NA build. E85 is good, but you need more of it than pump, and it varies in ethanol content from like e54 all the way up to e90 here in the valley. Val Vista and Broadway was e90 at one point. So if you do go E85, get the highest percentage of ethanol to do your map. Oh, and change your oil somewhat often.. I hear it gums it up over time.

  • @TheCitizenErazed
    @TheCitizenErazed 6 лет назад +1

    Finally YES! Nice review of your B20v block.
    However I believe you could reuse the Type R oil pump, just check the inner/outer rotor clearances. I'll be using the 2nd hand B16 pump for my setup.

    Headers. Depends where u want the potential . low end or high end. Also.. Resonators and mufflers do not hurt. They simulate longer piping (better sound and appropriate back pressure). I have obx headers on my miata [4-1] my benifits come ☝ higher rpm if any i only have an intake high flow cat and muffler. (You can see in my only two videos)

    Don’t run the tri-y in your ride your going to have ground clearence issues, and for the cams you can run the skunk2 pro1, they will work with your compression and if you go turbo you can still use them. I have that combo with the same pistons at 85mm on pump93 gas and make 238hp and is a daily D. Plus the idle sounds sick!!! I use the PLM V2 Bisi style and have the groud clearence perfect

    i had a plm tri y big tube on my jdm b20b high comp motor and the way the pipes are stacked sat stupid low to the ground. made good power and a flat torque curve. now i'm running a high-end tri y and the ground clearance is much better. i haven't had it on the dyno with this header but it feels like it pulls harder up top compared to the plm. low to mid range is still super strong. i'd say go with the high-end tri y in your case

    Coming together nicely! Definitely go new with the oil pump. E85 is definitely nice, just make sure you're on top of cleaning your injectors as e85 tends to gunk them up. Most of our local pumps are e54 here in Az, not a huge loss in power or performance. That 70mm throttle body will be plenty for what you're going for. Only thing I would recommend is port matching as much as possible to cut down on turbulence. The Bisi style headers have shown some decent gains from what I've seen in other builds. The Pro 2's or even some Type R cams would be excellent for what you're doing. I would also get a fuel pressure and oil pressure gauge for the setup at some point. The earlier and easier you can foresee issues, the better.
    And last but not least, you don't need to explain a damn thing to anyone. You build it at your pace because at the end of the day, unless someone on here is going to pay your bills and fund the project it'll be done not a minute past perfect. Stay up bro!

    If you change the oil pump the b20 and the type r are the same part number from honda also use the b20 head gasket that's what I used with my b20 setup and shoes still rock solid. The stock header is better to use for back pressure. Also for the intake manifold get a heat Guard gasket to fight the heat. Heat will rob you of power keep that in mind. Peace

    P30 Pistons (84.5mm)
    PR3 Head (.004" for flatness)
    Cometic B20V/LS .030" Head Gasket

  • @upfactoryracing4148
    @upfactoryracing4148 6 лет назад

    Ok man not hating on the build just want to throw some info at you. 13:1 is outrageous, never run fel-pro. Get a Cosmetic MLS gasket with .060 thickness to bring your compression to 12.5:1 which is type R compression. This will make it more reliable and longer life. Also you want the Golden Eagle main bearing girdle to support the longer stroke, this is much like the block guard just for the bottom. The lightweight flywheel will make your low end torque suffer. Meaning off the line will be slow till you hit your power band which will be high in the revs. Really you would want a 11 lb flywheel so your off the line is good and the revs are fast and high. With the B20 you don't want to go over 8000 without sleeves, good on you for getting it balanced that will be smooth without the weezy top end. I dig this build man!

  • @kyleholmes7459
    @kyleholmes7459 6 лет назад

    Bruh you’re thinking on a future turbo with 13:1 compression? That’s insane my dude, she’ll be a grenade at that point. If it was me I’d get the S2 stage 2’s like you’re planning.
    I would recommend the 1320 toda rep header for your setup, the runners are a bit bigger than other headers but it sits too close to the radiator to run a double fan, if you wanted to do that. There’s still enough room to run a slim fan in the stock fan location, of course.
    I’m 99% sure those are stock cams, all of the aftermarket cams I’ve seen have some sort of markings on the ends that you showed in the vid.
    Forgot if you had any other questions or needed other input, maybe someone can remind me. Your build looks freaking sick brother, so damn clean. Keep it up.

    • @kyleholmes7459
      @kyleholmes7459 6 лет назад

      Forgot you were asking about E85 vs. 110. I would go e85 for sure! The only thing is those 450cc injectors are gonna be running at the ragged edge I would think. Running E85 requires the injectors to supply about 35% more than they would have to if you were running gas. I’d get some 650’s just to be safe if you can.
      Also in the US E85 is not required to be exactly 85% ethanol so it’s not always that consistent bro. Some spots sell “E85” that’s only like 50-something percent. So get your E85 from the same spot always my dude, or at the very least from the same brand, like always get your E85 from BP or whatever stations near you have it, that was my move when I had my old Subi on E85.
      Anyways thanks for the great content, I’m subbed up and I’ll be lurking around the comments section if you ever need anymore advice. Much love dude keep it up.

    They make the block guard specifically to your block so it fits right in and you dont have to hammer it or anything and oval out your bore. No issue with block guards myself but I feel safer with CSS's personally... Any how, your build, your way!

    How did the flat valves hold up? Also did you ever upgrade your lma’s? Love your videos bro can’t wait to go b20 Vtec again!

    Hey man good contact on the video love the build great work but if I was you I would get tri-y headers use your 70 millimeter throttle body with some Skunk2 Pro 2 stage 2 cams or use the type are ones that you have with your type R intake manifold and a very good tune you should be more than 230 plus easy with E85

    I hope you're aware when you were showcasing the bottom end, you were rotating it clockwise, the engine rotates counter clockwise when in operation. I'd also like to ask what cross bars you've got in the back of the hatch. I'm building an EF and would LOVE to run the same setup! Thanks!

    bro go E85 is the way to go get u 255 walbro pump whit a relay and some nice injectors whit those p30 and the right cams and tuning u would be making over 220 on a EF thats plenty of power. GLWTB

      Last i knew you couldnt run e85 on a 255. Only know of the 400's being e-compatible. Lastly deustchworks has been known to outflow everyone.

    I have a built b18c type r with cp 12.5:1 pistons and the domes alot higher then those pistons you have tbh compression looks like its closer 11.5 or 12 not 13 but your valves could bump up to 12.5:1 still dont see 13

    Looks good man, you're not planning on boosting this thing are you? Stock sleeves on that thing will be plenty for an NA setup. You're going to want some big ass cams though if you want to make real high RPM power. Bigger throttle body won't hurt either. E85 would be a good way to go to keep combustion temps down. Awesome build man, got hooked when I saw your videos about louvering your fenders. Paint work looks good on the car too, congrats. Looks like you're really over-building this thing, never a bad idea.

      Yeah it's easy to slap some parts on an old honda and make it fast, it's a whole different animal to tear one apart and build it. I'm addicted to the second generation Integras, and I'm sure you know, parts for the DA's, EF's, and the old girls are getting hard to find, and clean shells are even harder to find. Glad to see you're keeping an old one alive, and doing things properly. Really liked what you did with the side moldings, and lexan quarter windows, super clean.

      good because your gonna need it with that much compression

    • @mikecmedrano
      @mikecmedrano 6 лет назад

      N/A, venting through the valve cover is sufficient and plug the vactory breather box hole on the back of the block. Two -10an lines from the valve cover to a simple catch can will do just fine.

    • @ronniecason9807
      @ronniecason9807 6 лет назад

      Mike M it’s a b20 block there is no breather box on the back of the block so it’s already plugged. Also maybe he doesn’t want to have -10an bungs welded on the valve cover in which case using the factory ports that are blocked on the block itself would work best for him. So it all depends on how he wants to build it.
