While I appreciate the fine craftsmanship of your slide out bed, as an owner of a 2015 NV200, I’ve decided on a different option. It’s just a personal choice based on my needs for cargo hauling and the occasional camping. I purchased a Coleman camping cot that I can easily remove and also fold if more space is needed. There’s also plenty of room underneath for storage and the weight is also significantly reduced. Thank you, too, for the video of you adding your windows. That’s an option I’ll be exploring as well. Good job.

Thanks. I use a cot in the back of my truck when I want to camp down rough roads. Works great for that application. Lots of ways to camp and build out vehicles.

That will do the trick 👏 👍

Nice work. For my bed, I just bought some wood at home Depot and they cut all the pieces for me. Mine's a rickity pos, but it gets the job done.

How are the metal adjustable legs holding up? I saw another hack of using sections of PVC pipe over legs to raise bed. Nice slat bed!

They are okay. They do tend to unscrew a bit, but some lock-tite and 2 good wrenches fixes that. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the design, but wouldn't want to live in the van and have to set that up every night. In fact, in my new van, having a permanent bed was a major design choice.

Hello Scott, i’m from Montreal, and I’m copying your perfect design :). Question: how many slabs, and what are their lenght/width? Thanks so much

Sorry, I'm out travelling right now in a different rig. But I think I used 3/4" by 4" pine boards for the slats. It's best to cut them to fit your design so can't give exact measurements. Good luck.

Thank you for this! Where did you get the swivel seat for the passenger seat? I have been looking for a source for these. Did you have to do any special mods with the centre console to make it fit?

It's not a swivel, I just rotated it 180 degrees. There is a video out there on how to do it. I did have to enlarge one seat hole about an 1/8". No other modification needed. Of course that makes it a 1 person van.

Scott_PDX So true. Maybe its just better to take out that seat and put in a simple folding one so that when needed as a passenger seat, one can just reinstall it. Is it too difficult to reinstall? Or maybe to even take out? Thanks from Texas.

I really like this series. I’m looking to do exactly this but trying to work out if it will be high enough for me. I was wondering how tall you are & your head clearance when sitting on the sofa. Thanks!

Thanks Sam. I'm 5' 10" and have about 2" to spare. If I leaned the driver seat forward and didn't have those bags on the back of the driver seat that would give me about 6" more inches to lay down. I did change the cushions out to 4" vs the 6" ones show to get a bit more headroom when sitting, and better foam,, but even the 6" gave me plenty of headroom when sitting. Do some test fits first and adjust the height to fit. Good luck.
