Yea I try. It doubles in subs every new camera canon releases. I know the guys at Canon Finland. You see the reality tv show pilot I shot. It’s almost funded for a full season.
Amazing! I learned something Extremely useful in the first 90 seconds of this video. I currently have/use an EOS Rebel T6 camera. I knew of the existence of the dioptric knob, and I knew it was used for sharpening the view in the OVF. What I didn't realize was, that it was designed to be used without glasses. I have had my T6 for just about 2 months now and I have been fighting with my glasses every single time i pick up my camera. Now I can slip my glasses up on my head and get right into the OVF without jamming them into my nose. Or better yet, I can slip my glasses down just a tiny little bit and look over the top of my glasses as I look through the OVF. Then if I need to review the photo all I have to do is pull back a few inches and look down at the back panel display. Thank you Daniel for sharing the gem of information. It has made my love of photography just a little bit easier. .
So helpful! I shot 2 entire jobs with strobes with exposure simulation on and I couldn't figure out how to turn it off. Thank you for taking time to teach this!
I cannot tell you how wonderfully informative this tutorial has been to me .. I'veben shooting Canon since my art college days way back in 1965 .. I now own this fabulous Canon EOS R5 and I'm completely blown away by it's super high resolution and quality of each image file .. I am truly blessed .. Now to save up for RF glass .. Nightmare ...
@@DanielWhiteWithCanon - Well done for your great work Daniel. You certainly knock this tutorial nail on the head. Keeping it simple and concise. It’s maybe time for me to part with my 5D3 & 5D4! Thank you once again!
Hi , thank you for the useful video. I got a question and been looking for the solution for while. I can’t see the different of DOF in live screen nor live view finder. Even though I change to small F stop but it’s seem to showing only Shallow dof only on the screen. So the dof is showing different result of after shot and live view. How can I fix it ?
Hi Daniel, I cannot find a link to the settings for the R5 as you mention in this video. Can you provide me with a link please? Otherwise, it's a great tutorial and I learned a lot about setting my camera up. Thank you.
Hi Daniel note after upgrading the firmware to 4.0 I am not able to activate the histogram when shooting can you check on that Or make a new updated Video. Please
There is a chance that the update messed with your settings and deselected the histogram as an option when cycling through the info options. I would go and see what you have specifically selected to pop up and then come back if it is still a problem.
The professional photographer camera 📸 some clarification other comments also required for me to decide for purchasing , either I go for Soni after 20 year ?
It would seem that the lens electronic manual focus (magnify) feature is not compatible when AF mode is set to facial tracking? I have also noticed that the manual focus is a little sluggish to catch up on my 70-200mm (going too far makes a squeaking noise!). Still learned some new tricks-thanks for sharing!
I just got my R5 and when I look thru the viewfinder or back screen there is a black edges in a circle like shape, like vignettes? How to I get rid of this? Great video, definitely saving it. Thank you.
Morning from New Mexico... is it possible on the r5 to have the view finder not go black when engaging the shutter button, allowing you to still see what you are taking a photo of? Now, when I engage the shutter, the view finder screen goes black and after shutter is finished the image comes back? thank you... OBG
when shooting in manual mode in the studio, my viewfinder goes dark when I half press the button to focus and shoot. How do I switch that off so I can see the subject? it only does it in manual mode, not in A or T
Is there a way to turn off/hide the level but keep the histogram on the display? I never use the level and find it gets in the way, but love the histogram.
I don’t have my camera on me for the weekend but info info info or there is an option in what I believe is the wrench number 4 or 5 that you can select what is shown when you toggle the settings. I have demonstrated this many times in the VF videos so there is a good chance you have already found the answer :)
Great video! I learned so much. I tried the link for the FREE EOS R6 Menu Reference Guide but it is not working. Could you please post a new link? Thank you.
My view finder doesn’t show anything at all it just remains black… is this normal? are we just not able to look the the view finder eye? or is there an error with my camera?
I'm not sure why my Canon R5 menu differs from your menu. I'm assuming that there were changes in the two years since this was made. Anxiously waiting for my manual to arrive. Remember the days when they gave you one after spending thousands on a camera?
Focus Distance Display - You mentioned the unit is "feet or manual" but I believe the unit of measure is "feet" or "meters" as in standard vs metric. Am I interpreting that incorrectly?
Hello Daniel, thank you very much. May I ask you 2 questions: first one does R5 eyepiece have an internal cover to stop extraneous light entering the rear of the camera whilst doing long exposures? Secondly as a landscape photographer we were often advised to turn off the image stabilisation (IS) but now we have (IS) in the lens and camera body. What would you advise? For it was said that (IS) goes haywire when switched - on and placed on a tripod. I thank you in advance for your time on this matter...
Hi Allan I have no idea about the first question but I imagine there would be no need for a cover since the sensor and the Viewfinder are 100% separate compartments. There’s no physical connection between the two spaces. And to answer your second question yes turning if the IS on the lens will turn off the ibis and is still recommended when using a tripod.
Hey @Allan Davies, the cover you're talking about was required in DSLRs because in a long exposure light could've easily leaked from the viewfinder, inside was a pentaprism glass connected to the area above the sensor. With the mirrorless cameras such as Canon R5/R6 instead of a pentaprism inside the viewfinder, it's just an electronic display that's not optically connected with the sensor area, so no chance of light leakage from viewfinder in a long exposure. Hence no cover is required.
Pff i am trying for 20min now, different lenses. Different settings. My histogram NEVER shows up, even after changing all of it in those detailed setting list... Even resetting all thr settings doesnt do the trick. 😢
hey very cool video!!! thank you for that ... can you perhaps help me with a small issue regarding R5? for some reason all my videos from r5 having a letterbox already ... do you know how to turn it off in side the camera?

Brilliant, how much grief could I have saved, by watching this before some of the other videos.
