Thank you! Great video! We cooked English muffins that must have a high oil content. The toaster began to smoke during use. I cleaned out the tray and found a small puddle of grease. I turned the toaster over and shook out the crumbs. Then had the problem you describe-not latching. I started to take it apart but gave up. Didn’t realize there were tabs holding the base to the housing. I decided to buy another toaster, but checked RUclips first. You finding the problem to be a mechanical obstruction, I shook out more crumbs. Voilà! Thanks again!
Thank you for making this video! I have the exact same toaster with the same problem. If I would have seen this video a couple of days ago I wouldn't have bought a new toaster. It was so frustrating trying to figure out how to take the toaster apart because the screws aren't phillips or hex screws. So those are torx screws? I never heard of Torx screws. Anyway I will have to buy a Torx screw set. Thanks to you now I can return my new toaster that Amazon will be delivering today.

Thanks. I fixed my toaster. Toast film was on the magnet which holds Handel down. Tooth brush took it off.

Very good work, thank you for sharing!!
Thank you too!
What screw driver did you use to remove the first(torque) screws?
0:30 Torx screws, you'd need a Torx driver set
