always remember that life does not equal school. if you struggle to condition yourself to do these things, thats natural. never put yourself down for wanting to prioritise anything besides school because people always forget that there is life beyond school! not everyone has to strive for academic excellence because academic excellence isnt for everyone. this video is good for those who really want to continue with education but that shouldnt be the norm because not everyone can survive that lifestyle. happiness, stability and health = success. a prestigious career yet an empty materialistic lifestyle from having nothing beyond that ≠ success. no hate to this video, just a reminder to those who might be striving for something they dont actually need, just pressured into having.

Great video, however I would like to add smth.
I can actually nap for hours after school because of how tired I get both physically and mentally. Trust me it's not just the excuses. It takes around one and half hour for me to get home from schl and that's what probably physically drains me out. So personally I never struggled to take a nap after schl and that's what makes the whole thing difficult for me. If I want to get any work done I would keep dozing on and off so my advice would be to actually take a nap or like sleep for an hour or two and then to get started cuz what's the point of trying to work when u r not 100% or let's just say even 80% present while doing ur work? Another great tip would be to *study in a public place like library* where the surrounding ppl can motivate u to get some work done but again if u r way too tired this tip might not work either.

    Here are the key points:
Reschedule homework: Do your homework before school when you are more alert and have less stress.
Discipline yourself: Imagine being forced to do homework, you would do it, so tap into that ability.
Reflect on study needs: If you study after an 8-hour school day, you might not be using school time effectively.
Bonus tips include power naps, exercise, sunlight, and using weekends for studying.

I would also like to add:
    1. Exercise
(It doesn't need to be hard, but get your heart rate up; e.g. jog on the spot for a minute, 20 jumping jacks. Doing this before each subject works wonders I swear it's like an accessible mode of adrenaline)
    2. Tell yourself that you want to do the homework
(you will 100% sound like a lunatic in your head, but keeping a positive outlook is going to motivate you far more than a negative one. Also works for staying motivated in school as well)
    3. SIGN OUT of all the sites that will distract you
(sign out and remove the shortcuts to anything on your school/work device. Distinguish in your brain that this Is your 'work' device and your phone Is your 'play' device. one Is for relaxing, one Is for being productive.)

Oh hi some additional advice for those of you who want it, do your revision and studying in a place that isn’t your bedroom. A kitchen table, a bus, a bench, the library. It means two things,
    A. You don’t associate the place you sleep and relax in with stress and work
    B. It lowers distractions and places pressure on you to not goof off and focus on other stuff.

  • @Yoyyush

1- Sleep early+wake up much earlier to study before school
2- Be disciplined; do it even when not feeling it
3- Use time in school wisely
(Example: prioritize your goals and interests: so when you want to focus on socializing at school, do it, and study and keep the the after-school time for studying, if you can to begin with)
    + tips for energy:
    a) nap after school, or listen to "NSDR" and it outs you in a very relaxing state while still not sleeping, but it'll feel like so
    b) Be active, exercise, walk, see sunlight
    c) Take advantage of the weekend (it's a huge opportunity to spend it to work and eventually keeping off some new week stress)

Just came here to say that the first tip works wonders! I came across this video out of the blue but I’m a med school students with a really crammed schedule but this trick is the ONLY way i get work done. My classes start from 9am so I leave at 8 but wake up at 5 am. This gives me 2 hours to work and revise/complete assignments. It’s also important that you get a good night’s sleep. I sleep at 10pm and I wake up at 5 and I’m so used to it now that I don’t need an alarm anymore.
This is coming from someone who’s going to school after 4 years of being homeschooled with a terrible sleeping schedule(where I’m from we start med school right after High school). If I can do it, so can you.

This is nice! The problem would be the first one where some would have to wake up earlier to get some study. It is important to adjust after your program. Don't wake up at 5 am after going to bed at 12pm. You need the sleep otherwise it would become a cycle of bad sleep then low energy and low output throughout the day. It is very important to note that balance is key. If you need to wake up later then go for it. Important stuff happens when you sleep (hormones, recovery, etc.). Also the idea of studying in the bus is a great!

Napping after school may not be such a problem. Like a lot of things, it's pretty easy to do it when you build a habit. Literally just lay in bed, even if you don't fall asleep. You do this at the same time every day and odds are you will fall asleep earlier and earlier.
In general, consistency is useful in an extremely high amount of areas. From this to things like language learning(in my case), it pretty much guarantees success if you do it right and gets easier to do the more you do it because when your body understand "this is a thing I do", you skip the thinking process that comes before every new action taken. You don't usually think hard about brushing your teeth because you've done it so much and your brain just stops thinking about it and simply does it. Regarding increasing discipline, funnily enough I think it can be explained by this: The more you do stuff based on habits and consistency, the more you actually build up the habit of forming habits themselves. Simply said, you form a habit of doing stuff without making excuses beforehand and thus don't think about the process anymore.
For me and generally, almost all people, it seems that the hardest part is usually starting the activity. Once you realize this, it gets significantly easier to tackle the issue. If you manage to start, it's not difficult to finish. What helps is making the activity as easy to start as possible. Prepare everything beforehand and lay out a clear plan as to what you do, instead of your goal being "study" which is vague, big and thus difficult, thinking of step by step goals is more manageable.

Discipline is a crucial part of balancing a lifestyle. I'm a self employed game developer / entrepreneur and discipline is by far the most important yet also difficult things to achieve, to be able to force yourself to do something because you know it needs to be done even when you don't feel like it helped me improve significantly mentally and also improve my skillset. Thanks for sharing this :)

I sleep at 00 at the night and wake up at 07am, I also always get 30 minutes nap after coming back home, than start studying with my coffee. It's quite hard to develop but very time saving, if I take nap past 30 minutes, I end up sleeping for like 4-6 hours and wake up at night.

I've been doing the method you gave in 2:30 for at least 2 months. I can really see the improvement. I can concentrate the work I'm doing as my sibling and my parents are sleeping and my brain is not full of thoughts that made my mind busy with all day. You just need to sleep earlier. I sleep after dinner because my mum wants me to eat with them but if you have a kind of "relax" family, you can try eating by the time you arrive home and then sleep.

    Short answer: you dont.
I started sleeping after school. I wont get anything done anyway. So best to use that time to regen as much as possible. I had and still have some issues going to bed at night, but its mostly due to an unbalanced schedule throughout the week. After I wake up i am refreshed and can start being productive again. I just eat a soup or something after coming home and have lunch after i wake up. The only problem is that i miss a lot of the sunlight, which isnt all that healthy. I would probably get around this by setting an alarm before napping.

I like the general point of this video but I disagree with your point about burnout. Procrastination is a consequence of burnout, which is why it may seem like someone is lazy because they are making excuses even though they truly have no desire to do what they are being asked to

    • @Viksastar
      @Viksastar 7 месяцев назад +8

No, procrastination is due to being intimidated by a certain task and as a result delaying it for an extended amount of time either by doing something else (watching videos on productivityrather than actually taking action) or something completely distracting (tiktok, insta reels)
Burnout is when you do too much work and is the consequence of not balancing out productivity and breaks or making a realistic routine to stick to.

This is interesting, because for me, I do the literal opposite.
While I still can relate to the afternoon crashes and the lack of energy to do my schoolwork upon going back home, instead of waking up early to do it, I instead do it before heading back home. I am at my first year of senior high as of now, and luckily, school ends for me before 1PM, and you're allowed to stay over at school within an hour grace period, as long as the gates remain open for retreating senior high students (and close, as junior high students remain until the next few hours). Within that grace period, that's where I start to do the work, and conveniently, since it's past class hours, I can use my phone for required research. I always have this mindset of "What I do for school should be done in the school, so all I do at home is whatever.".
I heavily dislike homework, as they completely defeat the purpose of the longevity of the time you spend at school. So, I put that extra hour of staying over at school to get the most of the work done, then head over to the gym to build up clarity, then finally go home before 4PM, where all I have to think about is "I'm tired", but no "I still need to do something". I have really bad time management, and that strategy helps me synthesize what benefits time management offers, without actually having it.

The first tip about doing work before getting to school I kind of did once because I couldn't sleep before a test day and so I just decided to revise some more (it was from 3am to 5am) and I swear it probably saved my mark. HOWEVER: I was way more tired after school than I usually am, so I don't think this way is sustainable, at least not for me. I think it's better to just "make your own motivation", so to speak. I usually just find as many convincing reasons I can to study (like for example "what's the worth of this subject, why do some people devote their lives to learning this, how impressive is this subject like fr") and so almost to do the subject justice even, out of respect, I put the effort in, and by that point the fact that I'm tired becomes more and more irrelevant. I also like to imagine what people I admire would say about this effort I'm putting in. What would Leonardo Da Vinci say, what would Richard Feynman say, what would Alain Bombard say? It's like self-encouragement based on figures of admiration and awe, which really works for me. I have pictures of these role models (and a few others) hanging up in front of my desk so it's almost like I'm being watched which sounds creepy but I have to say it's exactly this sort of "intimidation but in a good way" that gets you to keep at it. You wouldn't pick up your phone and watch RUclips Shorts with Alain Bombard watching, would you?

I wake up at 4, get ready for a 7 am class, head to the bus terminal around 5, and wait in line for 20-30 minutes. It takes about an hour to reach the city, where I then wait for another bus to take me to campus. The same routine applies when I return home: I wait in line at the terminal for an hour, face traffic for approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, and finally, arrive home.
