- I bought a BMW R1200GS Adventure motorcycle a couple of months ago. While I mostly plan to tour on pavement, I certainly want to be able to explore gravel roads, double track, bad pavement, etc. Thus I'm practicing in a relatively controlled and contained environment so that I have confidence when faced with gravel when on an actual ride.
This was my second time out. The first time I simply rode up to the parking lot, did a couple of loops and left in one piece and was happy :-).
One of my goals today was to get used to riding gravel more (minimally) aggressively and to start gingerly testing the limits of traction in a (very) controlled way. I feel like I succeeded, and left with much more confidence. I will be back to practice more!
Oh wow,,,Now this is interesting...
Hey mike you around? Are you into stereo/ headphones these days? Haven’t seen any reviews lately
Hey there :-)
It’s funny you ask. You may have noticed over the years I have multiple hobbies. Got into doing music with modular synthesizers for the last few years (I’ve posted dozens of performance videos of that stuff, though I realize it is pretty niche :-)).
I still like listening to music, but had taken a back seat while I was producing. I’m kind of hitting a dry spot music production-wise, so I’m back to listening and have been doing some changes to my system the last few months.
I haven’t made a typical in-person video in years now. There have been lots changes in my life in general over the last few years. I’ve started some other new hobbies as well. I keep trying to think of a way to say something about what has been going on, and also start new videos about hobbies and life. But I’m so busy doing other things that it just hasn’t happened. I can’t tell you how much appreciate your interest, though!
Oh, BTW the music (such as it is) for this video is from my “studio”.
Nice! Variety is the spice of life after all. Update video would be nice when/if you feel like it
New to ADV or motorcycles in general?
New to ADV, though I test rode a F650GS and an R1150GS long ago when I had a K100RS, and that was my only experience. Have long known about adventure bikes, and been somewhat interested.
I had a long bikeless gap, and when I decided to get back in I figured an ADV bike was the way to go due to the seating position, roominess, and my relative age (not super limber). Tried a few and decided I should just get the ur-adventure bike :-)
