The sequal will be even better. The creator hangs around on toft subreddit alot. I for one use it alot for cardio sparring. Been playing for a good amount of hours. And your assessment is spot on. It's better for people who know how to fight.
@@SenseiSeth HTC vive trackers can work with your Occulus quest 2 but you're gonna need to hook it up to your pc to do that, so long as its powerful enough to handle VR in the first place. But yeah you can kick, sweep, grab wrists, shoulders, legs. It's really fun and while more realistic than something like Gorn, it's still less real than thrill of the fight. Sensei Seth you need a gaming channel where you can upload footage of you playing video games related to martial arts.
The strangest thing is how quickly you get into "Win mode!" its uncanny. Great work out and keeps things moving in the right direction for when you get back to the dojo or mat.
i think thats why its called 'the thrill of the fight', and not 'boxing simulator'. Its more about giving the feeling of being in a combat than realistic simulation.

can you imagine in a few years you could get your fighter prepared for a particular fight by setting up different fighters. it's pretty much improved shadow boxing
In the custom fight settings you can customize the agression levels, what kind of sides/punch types the AI favors, AI "chin" toughness, and damage output. You could in theory if you knew what to program at least for boxing. Full body tracking with kicks and different striking arts would be awesome.
Seth, please do more with vr. Next time you see wonderboy, you gotta make sure he tries this. Also, I'd invest in a better head strap, it makes using the headset so much better than you think. Literally buy any head strap meant for the quest 2 and it'll make a difference.
Do the Frankenstein mod and pickup a Vive Audio Deluxe Headstrap. I did the mod with both my Quest 1 and Quest 2. Very comfortable, and the audio is great. Look it up. Easy to do.
This was so fun to watch 😂 I suggest investing in the upgrade strap so you can screw in to anyones head size. 2) I think there's a setting in thrill of the fight called "Drift protection" that prevents the boxing glove from whipping past your actual hands. the glove continues for a split second into the opponent even if you aren't fully extending your arm. Can develop bad habits, so turn on drift protection in the settings.

I went in expecting something a little more arcade-like and got cocky after the sparring fight, then kicked my own ass via exhaustion on the basic-ass first real fight. I mean, I'm out of shape sure, but the back of my shoulders hated me for going all-in on my sloppy punches. Best way to break a sweat though, stop it from being exercise and make it into a game, haha.
This game is why I don’t gas out in my boxing class even after 30 min of cardio and 8 rounds of sparring when I only go to the gym once a week! It’s so much more fun than running and it’s a high intensity workout as well

Great video. Great insights from you and H2H on who this would be useful for. I think that there could be a way to do distance "training" with an experienced coach provided you could sync the in glasses video with an exterior view of the person fighting. With the proper setup, a coach could supervise multiple people at the same time, similar to when they oversee sparing. Not the same as the real thing but still a new option we never had before.
Ive always loved boxing sparring because of the fun cardio minus the occasional headache. This is almost identical. Amazing cardio workout. I do three rounds in the morning and feel great for it.
I don't have any sort of boxing gym where I live and have pretty much no experience with legitimately boxing, but I know for a fact that the game has helped me work on getting better technique and everything. I'm definitely not even close to being good at boxing, but I can say from personal experience that a combination of TOTF and a metric fuckton of youtube tutorials have helped me at least a little bit haha
Thrill of the fight is my favorite also. It is not perfect though.. Turn the difficulty up.. Pro is the best way to train in VR. I don't have as much room as you guys do, so I stand in a small box area.
There's a VR taser shirt in development, I think it's called OWO looks pretty neat, you can adjust the intensity of the shock based on the intensity in the game. I think it runs for like $500.
They have full body suits now, which also sends impulses to your muscles so you can feel impacts. They also have sensors for feet etc, but I haven't seen any games that lets you kick / elbow yet. Thrill of the fight : Muay Thai edition perhaps? :D
This is literally the only work-out I'm getting in right now.. 30 minutes a day. I've never formally trained boxing, but use TOTF to practice combos, foot work and defense I learn on youtube (including Tony Jeffries, Icy Mike, Seth, Dewey etc). The cardio is sick on this thing
I bought one immediately after this. It was so good and fun at the same time. I have also picked up this game, and yes it is a great workout as well as an intesnse training session.
This was the first game I bought for my VR And ya'll are right, you do absolutely get competitive as soon as you step in the ring. I've had very basic boxing training, basically just enough to know how to throw a straight, a hook, and a jab with some proficiency. But that was years before I got VR. Mix that with not having an active lifestyle and slim to no chances in my small town to get some real training with real people and I was a bit of a mess in game. But after I started playing I somewhat got back into the sport watching fights, watching how other people train, watching videos for advice, and trying to cut weight while building muscle. And I can confidently say that I'm still a mess. You're spot on saying that this game would be a really good tool for people who know what they're doing, I myself have definitely improved but only as much as I can without having a decent coach and sparring partners. Great video, I've been binging all day and just subscribed. Keep up the awesome content!
These guys have never seen this technology before this could change how fighters train. More effective than shadow boxing in the mirror because in VR the opponent can fight back so this is good for training your reflexes and reaction time. I use VR all the time to keep my skills sharp but hitting the heavy bag and lifting weights will make your hits stronger. Maybe in the future we'll have robots we can practice on.
WE NEED MORE OF THIS this could be a series! when you go to different schools, whether you meet with wonderboy or Jesse Enkamp. we need this to be a thing-
VR is awesome. There's several decent boxing programs. Some that track the path of the controllers to help with form, some that are to the beat of music for cardio that make also involve footwork. I picked one up immediately when the pandemic hit and it was a lifesaver to keep my family active.
Awesome video! Was thinking of doing something similar. I would recommend getting a third party head strap for the oculus so it stays on better during athletic movements
Great video mate. I use thrill of the fight as a fun way to get some cardio in, also boxvr which is like beatsaber with punches. Maybe look at getting a halo headstrap, made it possible to go longer without having strap marks all over my head. Don’t start zenith you’ll never come back 😂
I did boxing for 9 years, had a long break (1 year), and then bought VR. This game man... I played 2 matches in a row, was out of breath, sweating, dying, asking for mercy. Thought I became so miserable that I can't handle a VR boxing game, but after seeing these massive lads gas out as well, I understood that it's not me becoming spinless amoeba - it's game actually being physically taxing when you try to go all out XD
Nice VR googles, the little crazy hopping guy when berserk haha, and the black dude with the glasses looks like a horror movie villain's little brother 😎👍
Last guy all talk was wrecked after one round theres always one!!! Rest of guys gave it its credit. Guy with beard loved it 😅. I useit for shadow boxing as u said its like shadow boxing on steroids. Also great for practising slipping and working new combos etc
Im disabled & bought a boxing vr game for fun. I DID NOT think it'd ge such a good work out! I haven't felt a workout like that before I became sick. This is gonna be so good for me! (I play sitting tho lol) Good to know even experienced fighters approve 😊
I remember you were saying somewhere in the comments of your first Thrill of the Fight video that you were looking forward to checking out a PVP VR fighting/boxing game, such as Thrill of the Fight 2. That one isn't out yet, but the Quest version of Virtual Fighting Championship is.
Now I want to do this as well, see how I look. Although to be fair, with defence I have trained a lot with left hand low, and this game is not gonna let me block punches by moving my shoulder up, like I do with actual sparring before giving a left counter hook from behind their right arm. But this does have a lot of potential, I kind of want to see a futuristic version of this where you are actually fighting a hologram while all body movements are being registered.
Vr has the potential to make fighting sports survive the tech future, basically by offering a very friendly way to experience the rush, then even if they won't go and actually learn mma or boxing they might be a fan of the sport which is arguably more important for the sport.
I already had the Oculus Quest 2 and bought the game after seeing this video. Pros: It is a good cardiotraining and good addition to shadowboxing. Cons: You do not do proper punches. I noticed it myself after a while playing the game. I agree that it is good for ppl that already fight, because they know how to punch. But everyone can have fun with the game. Thx for the recommendation and the great video. You earned yourself a subscriber. :D
Dude please do this again with "Drunken Bar Fight", I will argue left & right this is the game that DOES show & allow you to apply martial arts training or boxing. Drunken Bar Fight allows you to fight multiple opponents & grab objects. It's a blast, I love both games but DBF is by FAR the best fun I have ever had.
VR boxing is a very good way for physically conditioning your body. And you don't need a sparring partner. The first time I did VR boxing, I got exhausted in the second round. I used to play 2 hours of badminton intensively nonstop. LOL
@@SenseiSeth A wireless platform similar to the Quest line would be key (I have a Quest 2), but you would also need full body tracking (a $2k suit would be best, but who's gonna spring for that?), but moderate level tracking could be accomplished with either extra sensors (which could come off during play), or multiple Kinect style devices (inherent lag and blind spots). THEN.... you would need some form of haptic feedback to let you know when you're taking hits, or when a hold was being applied... you know what, forget the grappling aspect, that is just not gonna realistically happen with our current technology level. You might be able to do some basic trapping or trips, but full blown MMA with all of the intrinsic grappling and wrestling just isn't gonna happen, just like you implied. A VR point sparring, kickboxing, or muay thai simulator? It's POSSIBLE, if you invest enough in your rig and have the space for it, but yeah, it's not gonna be practical anytime soon. Great video!
I hope part 2 comes out of they had online mode it'll be sick just fighting ppl online make even a ranked system and fight top tier players oh man! 🔥🔥🔥
Ive been addicted to this for a while, all the fun of slipping punches, 0% risk of CTE from getting punched in the head. Its great cardio, but you need to buy more of the foam things that insulate your face from the VR because those things get soaked in sweat and are difficult to wash and lose their firmness.
That wouldn't work without serious tech changes. When you punch or get punched there would be no force, only damage assessment, so people would be walking through punches. Without being moved by your opponents punches people would fight very differently and it wouldn't really be any good. It's okay against an ai, but with two real people it would be weird.
@@gesshugh9976 you can walk through ai punches too, just have the character in the game get k.od or something or even get this DONT let yourself get hit and take it seriously
Video games keep evolving and its crazy. The only thing that game needs is some kind of sensor were you feel the punches and your punches connecting. Of course I would buy it, been practicing since Mike Tysons punchout.
This is absolutely possible. They make haptic vests that can vibrate relatively hard when you get hit, and your controllers in your hands already vibrate when you connect with a punch.
Looks fun! Reminds me of the old games om the wii and the switch game ring fit adventure in a way. I love how games amd sport come together more and more
hmmm, kinda feel better about my thrill of the fight skills now lol im not even a trained martial artist or a boxer either xD shout out to my "Undying Will" video, went 40min straight in thrill of the fight. Doin my best not to be winded, trying to control my breathing.

ok HERE we go, these are the fighters i wanted to see. that's some tight form. Mr. Chan has that precision. no dainty wrist flicks. just good form.
It's on my wish list!
Totally different games but some of the absolute greatest VR games: Vtol VR, Pavlov, Superhot, Half Life Alyx, and Blade and Sorcery
My brother got this for Christmas and yo 3 rounds of this had me gassed asf like I was more tired fighting in this vr then I was sparring 🤦🏾♂️
Thrull of the fight is one of my favorite games on the Ocolous!! Glad to see it being played on this channel!!
Great video mate. I use thrill of the fight as a fun way to get some cardio in, also boxvr which is like beatsaber with punches. Maybe look at getting a halo headstrap, made it possible to go longer without having strap marks all over my head. Don’t start zenith you’ll never come back 😂
Can't wait for Kickboxing versions.
That said even thrill of the fight 2 should be awesome when it releases.
How dare you show me swatting the air like an idiot and NOT show those same shots landing! 😤
I wish it had multiplayer, for just being able to fight another person would elevate it a lot.
Blackie Chan learned to fight watching Hard2Hurt, maybe sensei Seth is preparing for his upcoming street beefs bout with Mike by fighting in VR
Used that A LOT during the lockdowns - not the real thing but better than doing jumping jacks at home.
Last guy all talk was wrecked after one round theres always one!!! Rest of guys gave it its credit. Guy with beard loved it 😅. I useit for shadow boxing as u said its like shadow boxing on steroids. Also great for practising slipping and working new combos etc
Dude it's unbelievable how immersive it is. I played the evil robot game and honestly flinched when they lunged at me lol
Im disabled & bought a boxing vr game for fun. I DID NOT think it'd ge such a good work out! I haven't felt a workout like that before I became sick. This is gonna be so good for me! (I play sitting tho lol)
Good to know even experienced fighters approve 😊
I have this game and play it for cardio. I just wish i had the same kind of space you guys do!
Nice! I was sweating just watching these guys..who are in great shape!
Could be a very effective reflex and conditioning tool, especially with some light wrist weights.
VR boxing is a very good way for physically conditioning your body. And you don't need a sparring partner. The first time I did VR boxing, I got exhausted in the second round. I used to play 2 hours of badminton intensively nonstop. LOL
I love playing boxing games in VR. Get a killer workout
Imagine when they can add a multiplayer element to vr games like that.
The Creed version has multiplayer! I saw a tiktok of this guy who fought a 9yr old for 30mins & he sounded like he was gonna pass out lol
If there was a Mma vr game I would buy it in a heartbeat
That’d be QUITE difficult to pull off 😂
@@SenseiSeth it would be cool tho cause I do Mma
Its great cardio, but you need to buy more of the foam things that insulate your face from the VR because those things get soaked in sweat and are difficult to wash and lose their firmness.
get a silicone cover
This reminds me a lot of the "Punch Out!" series.
Man, you just _know_ people would buy the shit out of a good VR punch-out game.
Hard2Hurt just sold me the game, I haven't trained really for some time and wanna start again, and just bought it from the winter sale to try it.
They turned up the difficulty for Blackie Chan. Still rocked the AI 🤣 Gods speed Chan!
yea it's true thrill is as best your gonna get on real boxing. i would recommend it
It's a hell of a cardio workout too
Fiance bought me an Oculus for Xmas and this was the 1st game I got
It’s TOUGH
@@SenseiSeth you were kind enough to comment on some of my bag workout from like 11 years ago, may put up some of my VR footage for giggles also
They need to make it multi player. Sink up with a sparring partner and that'll change the way we train 4ever
This game, pistol whip, blaston are all good workouts IMHO.
I don't know who this was recommended but this was fucking awesome. I used to do karate and boxing and I love VR.
Another great vid, keep the collabs coming. You gotta get them to join you in an "Every martial arts" video.
I love this game. My heart rate once hit 191 playing it.
With the pc version of Thrill to fight you can view the match in 3rd person as well.
Looks fun! Reminds me of the old games om the wii and the switch game ring fit adventure in a way. I love how games amd sport come together more and more
I don't often feel bad for the AI but goddamn they went at it!
@1:04 that moment in the middle of the night when you think that the seat's down, but you're mistaken.
Just imagine a multiplayer mode.
Coming later this month to this game
I just got this and I have no idea if it makes you a better fighter but boy howdy does it give you a workout.
you should use full body tracking it would be really cool to see martial artists use their skills
hmmm, kinda feel better about my thrill of the fight skills now lol im not even a trained martial artist or a boxer either xD shout out to my "Undying Will" video, went 40min straight in thrill of the fight. Doin my best not to be winded, trying to control my breathing.
Dude, I just won one of these Quest 2s from a giveaway and have been looking for something besides "watching videos in bed" for it. This sounds like it might actually be the thing that lets me use it for more than just lazy movies! Perfect timing!
VR boxing Creed: Rise to Glory is also good. You can fight known boxers like Rocky Balboa
Did u got to get sponsor a Sensei!! This is very fun and interesting idea. U should reach to Oculus or super high-end VR to something like this
Blackie Chan is still up in there! :D
Great street fighter character that guy. :D
