Carowinds made two mistakes when they were taken over by Cedar Fair: the closure and deconstruction of the beloved Thunder Road, and the removal of all of the water rides! The log flumes, Rip Roarin’ Rapids and Whitewater Falls were the only way park-goers could cool off, especially after Cedar Fair removed a lot of the shade trees to make room for more rides.
I miss Thunder Road And All rides you mentioned! I grew up really liking the log flume! Whitewater Falls was okay though if line was long, I didn't really think that 1 Hill was worth the wait!! Just standing on the bridge to get soaked was a lot of fun! Thanks for this good video. What cool memories!
Thunder Road was one of my favorite rides, but the year it was closing there was no one riding it. Even weeks before it closed. It only got busy the last weekend or two. If no one is riding, it's hard to justify the expensive maintenance.
Amazing. Thank you for uploading this! Would it be ok if I used clips from this video, with full credit, for an upcoming project on our channel? -Andrew
So crazy to think this was 32 years ago.... it seems like yesterday, my family always go season passes when I was growing up.

They thought that nightmare water park would be a great substitute. 🙄
Thanks for the memories!
