Refs should prolly wear a helmet and have a shield in case someone lets go of a sword and it accidentally goes flying. Even like a baseball helmet with a front face cage.
What camera/gimbal do you guys use to make these? I'm training over at the Knights Hall in Nashua NH, and do video work for a living, but you've totally nailed a really refreshing and cool way to shoot these fights, it's dynamic and really intense while showing the full matches! I'd be thrilled to be able to do something like this for my local teams

I agree. Unfortunately we don't really have many dedicated refs. All of us fight, we just take turns. Sometimes it doesn't go well.
