This video was a joy to watch! I laughed out loud when you placed the cup on the figurine's head! Gotta get me an audience like that! Thanks for the tips and the great start to my day!
I never thought to look in there. I will definitely try it. I realise my particular store may not carry them, but I didn't know this was a possibility. Thanks.
I have been using the lids for years. If you want the cups to last longer, line the hole on the bottom up so it reuses the same hole. That way the coffee will brew better and the cups will last longer.
To keep from getting more holes in the bottom just slowly turn the cup in the holder until the cup drops on to the bottom punch needle. Always goes into the same hole. Also you can get at least 2 cups of coffee from 1 kcup. By using the strong setting on the second cup. Depending on the brand of coffee you are using I have gotten 3 cups from I kcup.
I for one...LOVE that you put this up. I couldn't stand using the k-cups because they are SO EXPENSIVE and though I love my machine...fresh coffee every time it was causing me pain/money! So Thanks and just ignore all the negativity. Some people just are not Happy unless they are criticizing someone or something. I love GREAT TIPS.
1/13/19: 7 years later I find and great food for thought did not know about the top accessories thank you.... p.s. to those making unnecessary comments where is your video sharing your vast knowledge!
reusing the internal filters could easily get you sick, but i get where you are coming from. Instead of buying those covers, all you have to do is wrap a little aluminum foil over the top. a trick to keep from poking extra holes in the bottom is simply to place the k-cup in the same way each time. Just make sure the label is right side up the first use, then insert the same way each time.
It is 2018, and I just happened across your video after receiving a new Keurig machine as a gift! I really appreciate your tips and suggestions! Thank you and have a very Merry and Blessed Christmas! ✨☕️✨
Thank you for your video. So sorry for the rude comments you are getting. I don’t know what has happened to people. Would love to know where to get the Kaps.
They certainly don't make coffee makers like they used to in the 70s. Wonder how they did it. My neighbor threw out an original Mr. Coffee from the 70s last year.
Apparently it is possible to get coffee grinds up into the tubing that feeds the water through the top (some water from the needle is naturally drawn back up into the tubing when the pumping is done due to vacuum action), making it necessary to only use a filter cup that has a plastic recess that dips into the grounds, pushing them away from the tip. This is no guarantee that water still sitting in area of the needle when it stops pumping isn't contaminated with at least a small amount of fine particles. In other words, there should be as much separation between the grounds and the needle as possible. However, as the k-cups are designed, there is a high likelihood that some grounds will get sucked back into the needle, eventually causing a breakdown of the pump, clogging of the tubing or other issues.
Thank you Brenda Longfellow! I said the same thing on Glitter45 message! I can’t believe how mean spirited these comments are. Who would think refilling coffee could start a war!! I hope the Presidents of countries stick to water when talking! Lol 😂
oh my god. thank u for this video. i just got this machine & realized how expensive they can get. Especially being a coffee drinker everyday. Very useful information!
I also reuse my k-cups, My tip is instead of k cap you can also use heavy duty foil. Place it on rim to see how much is needed ,but cut a little larger enough to press under the k-cup rim. Instead of several holes , I always replace k-cup over same hole.
kool video. i found that using a reusable filter makes weak coffee so i put the reusable filter down inside a used k cup. first i peel away the foil then i cut off the lip and then i put the reusable down inside and line it up to fit in the same little hole. this causes the coffee to brew stronger.
I have used these caps for a few years before I discovered EcoBrew reusable cups for my Keurig machine. I do still have my K-Caps and use them when I want to brew a locally packaged flavored Coffee. We actually have a small coffee company near where I live. They ground their coffee too fine for the EcoBrew cups so I do reuse KCups with the caps. I keep a few in an air tight container, after they are dry, so I have some on hand. When they get used too much, or cannot be used anymore, I just buy a box of a dozen KCups on sale so I can replenish my used k-cup supply.
You can get a personal refillable thingy at the Dollar Tree. They come 2 to a pack for $1. Add it to the one that came with your machine and you'll have 3 of them that you can refill with your own coffee.
I actually was looking for something else regarding K-cup holder's, but I'm glad that I I came across this video as I have been wondering if these K-cup pods can somehow be reused. And apparently, someone figured out how to do this. Thanks for the video.
There are many ways to use a Keurig. This nice lady is just showing you one of many ways. I for one, am always looking for different ways to use it. I thank you for your time in producing this video. Ignore the negative, some can't live with out it.
I enjoyed the video, I didn't think it was too long, I appreciate that you actively looked for and found an answer to the kcup issue that you were happy with, that reduced cost and worked well for your needs. I don't understand bullies. I do know that I enjoyed the video, it is the first time I have seen anything on your channel, and so I hit the buttons to become a subbie as well as the bell to know when you post. So you have another happy supporter that will be looking forward to your next video. All the Negative Nancys need to look in the mirror and ask themselves why they are comfortable attacking another human being. Ignore them please. You are a beautiful soul. Keeping you in my prayers, God bless!
I have listened to many and yours is one the best and stands the test of time. Thanks. . Don’t lisent to those negative comments!! It says more about them than you.
You are a life saver! I recently purchased a k compact machine and was floored at the cost of the cups! I also struggled with the reusable filter that I have (similar to yours) for 2 reasons. To make a to-go cup i had to repack the thing 4 times. Very. Annoying. Second, with the reusable my grounds are too fine leaving me with a nice sludge in the bottom - yuck! I will certainly try this. I have some filters for my old pot that were too small, I might try to cut them down to fill the k cup. Thank you!
Yes this is very good. Thank you Ms. Minbat for the information. This saves me now much monies. Also I very liked your easy to understand English, and no jazzy distracting musics. Thank you for steady camera also. Blessings, André
I'm glad you like it. Kind of a spur of the moment thing! I keep the filled cups in the kitchen drawer under the machine. I use up about 9 per week, so I don't think freshness is really an issue. I'm not a coffee high-brow; I just like convenience.
This was very enjoyable to watch and informative. I will be looking for those lids and I hope they are still available. ps I love your description box!! lol I think you have everything covered. :) Thanks for the smile.
Those cups getting reused no doubt are full of mold. Especially if you're leaving them full of coffee for days. you're literally doing the exact same thing with the single use cups as you would with the reusable one.
I appreciated your post and am trying to find the discs that you use. I looked on amazon, but not sure what to call them. It looks like they got the hint though, that one pod was not sufficient for $10!! Btw, I loved the idea above your sink of having your measuring spoons hang!! I can never find mine in their drawer!!
This is great! I didn't know these existed! I normally, just dump out the coffee after done and recycle the plastic. But man I want some of these. I use the reusable k-cups and the newer models as well. You are not overweight, you look beautiful, your partner is with you for a reason.
If you put a little reference mark on the k-cup the first time you use it then you can reposition the cup the same way the next time so you don’t poke a new hole in the bottom.
i guess i don't understand how the kcup thing that you put coffee grinds in is more inconvenient then taking apart, emptying, washing and then drying the plastic Kcups. Not to even mention how dirty and germ filled doing that must be. I don't think ur saving time my dear.
You could line it back up in the same hole. That’s what I do if I need to take it out to check to see if I’ve use the grounds already (when I get distracted and haven’t made my coffee yet...lol)
My wife has a Keurig, but I never use it. I have a K-Cup press. I can use re-packed K-Cups just as you do, and I never have to de-scale the press. Gourmia and TRU sell essentially the same unit under their own brand names. The reason I switched was b/c the Keurig at work kept jamming, and I was the only guy that could fix it (plus the de-scaling). I repack the Cups a little differently than you, and your method is fine, but the following also works for both Keurig and the K-Cup press: Take the foil off the top, clean, then just cut a square of tinfoil, stretch it across the top of the K-Cup, and crimp it around the edges. It won't leak b/c when the Keurig handle comes down, a gasket seals the K-Cup from letting water escape around the top edge. It's the same with the cylinder/plunger device (K-Cup Press) that I prefer. If your Keurig ever goes kaputt, you have a big replacement cost, but a K-Cup press will still be working. If I break it? I'm out twenty bucks for replacement - and it takes much less counter space. It also works better with the K-Cups that have all sorts of flavors and gunk. If the bottom needle **should** clog, it's super easy to find the bottom needle to ream it out with a paper clip. Then just force fresh water through the hole with the piston/plunger. Easier !! Better !! BTW, we only use distilled or filtered water in our Keurig. It won't scale if you use de-mineralized water. Nice video!
I think this is an excellent idea, and your video is great! Just ordered my lids on ebay! I'm in Canada, so costs me a bit more, but will be worth it in the long run! Thank you!
Amazon sells the filter holders the size of a k cup and paper filters that are inexpensive. You can use any coffee in them. I bought the 4 pack of holders and 300 paper filters for about $21.00 over a year ago and I just ran out of paper filters.
I love my grey reusable K-Cup that you seem to hate, I've made hundreds of cups of coffee with it, and i think it's easier than what you're doing; although the way you're doing is fine if that's what you prefer.
Hi! I just bought that model Keurig machine used but can't find what model it is, any chance you remember what model # yourws is? TIA Thanks for the video!
i think because she doesnt want to wash it every day, she would rather load a bunch of them up at one time and also clean them all at one time. i think its just like dishes, you dont use the same plate for every meal, you put it in the dish washer so you can always have a new clean plate, not just one plate that you clean before every meal
I don't know if other commentators mentioned this but you can get a set off reusable k-cups on Amazon for under ten dollars and use them more than the few times you use existing k-cups, and they have caps attached to them. Endless using. You never have to buy filled k-cups for a high price only to reuse them 4 times.
This video is so cool. I'm sorry you had to learn somethings the hard way. How do you store the prefilled K cups you made ? Since they have a hole in the buttom the coffee doesn't stay fress like the coffee you put in the car and keep it in the fridge ?
Haters will be haters!...those are people who never posted anything on RUclips ! So that said, here I am a few years later and I have a "k cup machine" of my own. I've done the tin foil trick(big disaster) but you now convinced me to go for the poker chip way!...thank you and please don't let a few jealous haters scare you away from reviewing more stuff!
I have recently discovered (early 2019) that Costco has many brands of K-cups available now at about .35 cents each . Starbucks, Peets, Duncan Donuts and a Costco brand. My thanks for sharing your information when there was so little available.
I have plastic reusable kcup containers that I used in my big Keurig but they won’t work in my single smaller Keurig…..so yesterday I too rinsed out a coffee kcup. Yes the filter in there as she shows. So I’m going to get those caps. It’s just that I like to use different coffees and it’s less expensive than buying three kinds of kcups.
Thank you so much for this! I am very disabled and washing out a regular coffee maker every time isn’t doable for me, so kcups are the only way I get coffee. I don’t understand why they don’t have better reusable ones! Thank you again, I will definitely do this! 🧡
I got refillable pods at job lot $2.99 for two, they have a lid with a built in rubber seal and mesh filters on both sides and the bottom and a dimple where the machine punctures the pods, I have been using them for over two years
Thanks, Mama Minbat, I like your video. This morning right here in Hollywood, California, I was thinking of getting rid of my traditional paper filter coffee maker and go KEURIG. Then I said to my self,"" I can't afford these buy and throw cups." After I saw your video, I will give it a try . Fill up these empty cups 10 or 20 of them every two weeks is fine by me. About the pressure you mention, I don't thing pressure will reduce the coffer taste, if the water is hot you will get a strong coffee no matter the pressure. Less pressure or less drip, drip makes coffee strong. Thanks.
If you rotate cup when you put it in machine the needle will drop in the hole and you will not punch another. I found a set of checkers at the dollar tree the right size and made my own discs by heating ice pick and melting hole in the middle, they fit perfect and you get 20 for a dollar. 10 black 10 red, I use plain coffee in black and flavored in red works great. My machine is 2.0 and has to read top of cup I just leave the top of label on the rim.
This is such a great idea especially for someone like me, I hate throwing the K-cups away after the first use cause they're expensive and I feel there's still some in there. Gonna do this idea. Thanks! :)
They make a reusable filter now that you dont have to take out the original filter holder. The idea oh having a single cup maker is if you dont want to make a whole pot.
I totally get minbat's point. Unlike other critics, the reason I watched this video was not to condemn it but because I wanted to learn how to do the same thing. I want coffee in the morning when I'm either rushing around and/or too tired to keep my eyes open. But one quiet evening a week I'm happy to spend 10 minutes following her simple procedure assembling all the cups in one shot. In the process I save 90 cents on the dollar and generate less trash. I don't see anything wrong with that!
Yes, we do too. We go on line and buy boxes of 300 filters/box and fill with whatever flavor we want.. Also bought package of 6 of the holders.. That way we always have coffee ready just add water to Keurig machine and push the button. Sure saves a lot of money doing it this way..
And here I thought I was saving $ by using the gray thing and just adding coffee too it when I ran out of the kcups!! Yes the gray holder is not as fast as the individual kcups BUT it is a lot cheaper too add the coffee ! (I only started using the extra gray container because I ran out of kcups! I had a bag of coffee from my older coffee pot! )Yes, it's not fast but is cheaper!! Thank you for showing us another way but this looks like A LOT of work for me!! 😊
Thanks so much for posting this! I too see the attraction in pre filling a bunch at once for convenience sake. Do you find that in refilling them and storing them after they've been wet can cause any mold growth? (Or do they dry out, filter and all, pretty well before refilling?) My boys and I watched this together and they rather enjoyed your bit about the "composer" heads. We have Beethoven...looks like we need to find him some friends. ;)
What kimd of lids did you put ontop of the plastic cup ? Do they need to have holes ontop or does machine poke a hole, asking becuase id like to do the same with ours, thanks
I loved this video!! Very informative :D :D I bought the my kcup to make coffee using my own grounds but made a mess because I packed it on too tight. Thank you for all your info keep the vids coming!!
Since this video was uploaded 2 years ago , I would think there are better ways today. Personally I have a few plastic reusable cups with mesh screen filters snap lids made especially for the coffee maker. They only cost a few bucks and take only seconds to dump and rinse. They now also have a stainless steel reusable that costs about $20 which I just ordered. Probably a bit costly but have pretty good reviews so I hope it is worth it. I say what ever works for you .I just don't want to spend the time to make my own cups but want to save a few dollars.. MY system work great for me.
You are absolutely right. Since making this video, I found those reusable plastic ones too. I got my mom a bunch of those. She packs a bunch in advance.

Lol the sassy update in the description. I'm dying
Awesome of her to do!!!
With a marker, draw an alignment line on the side of the cup so you can try to make the same hole in the bottom every time.
This video was a joy to watch! I laughed out loud when you placed the cup on the figurine's head! Gotta get me an audience like that! Thanks for the tips and the great start to my day!
The Dollar Tree was selling the re-usable K cups for $1 each & they are BPA free.
I never thought to look in there. I will definitely try it. I realise my particular store may not carry them, but I didn't know this was a possibility. Thanks.

heres a better tip, buy a My K Cup (made by Keurig) that costs ~$7
I hope it is BPA free ,However ,she is very patient and proud to share her video .
Go to San Francisco bay coffee and get their coffee, Great stuff at a great price per cup.
Shawna Rudisill There are generic brands.
Just go get the easy and quick small pop in filter and dump the gounds afterwards and rinse and wash it and re use

Cindy Scheible those aren’t lids. She bought them online and they just happened to fit and have a hole.

That's how I do it. Good call.

@minbat are you still using this method to make coffee?
Hi! I just bought that model Keurig machine used but can't find what model it is, any chance you remember what model # yourws is? TIA Thanks for the video!
Solo cup is a very simple reuse-able filter that does not require switching out the holder
U can also use aluminum foil. Pre,-cut a bunch of pieces. But caps are a little quicker
Oh my heavens don't worry about what people think about you or the counters being stained, this is an informational video and its interesting
i think because she doesnt want to wash it every day, she would rather load a bunch of them up at one time and also clean them all at one time. i think its just like dishes, you dont use the same plate for every meal, you put it in the dish washer so you can always have a new clean plate, not just one plate that you clean before every meal
I don't know if other commentators mentioned this but you can get a set off reusable k-cups on Amazon for under ten dollars and use them more than the few times you use existing k-cups, and they have caps attached to them. Endless using. You never have to buy filled k-cups for a high price only to reuse them 4 times.
you can buy a metal one that fits into the k cup that you can just fill up with what ground coffe you want
Love this cuz of cost BUT am I the only one wondering what the hot water over the plastic is doing to us 🤔 especially after repeated use
I like you can be greener that way. Can u put the kcup back in with the punched hole in plastic in same spot? Or is it difficult to do that?
I got refillable pods at job lot $2.99 for two, they have a lid with a built in rubber seal and mesh filters on both sides and the bottom and a dimple where the machine punctures the pods, I have been using them for over two years
Over the years, I have purchased the refillable plastic K cups. It works for me
Thanks, Mama Minbat, I like your video.
Great idea!! Where did you get your San Jose cup?
This is such a great idea especially for someone like me, I hate throwing the K-cups away after the first use cause they're expensive and I feel there's still some in there. Gonna do this idea. Thanks! :)
Minbat I love your updated description. You are a badass, love🤘🏻🖤
Look up under keurig paper coffee filters. There are several and at great prices.
Can u make the cheese sauce at a slower pace plus showing ingredients .
Thank you for sharing! I've never heard of these before. I just have little filter baskets you put coffee in them. And they fit in the machine
Where did you get those caps? I'm definitely going to try those.
You say the My K-Cup isn't convenient, but disassembling and cleaning regular K-Cups is?
thanks for the hint about the keurig kcup tops
Loved this, you, and ALL your comments...thank you
Thanks so much for posting this! I too see the attraction in pre filling a bunch at once for convenience sake.
Do you find that in refilling them and storing them after they've been wet can cause any mold growth? (Or do they dry out, filter and all, pretty well before refilling?)
My boys and I watched this together and they rather enjoyed your bit about the "composer" heads. We have Beethoven...looks like we need to find him some friends. ;)
You can buy the refillable cup pods I don't use the pre filled anymore
Love your composers! Must get some caps.
What kimd of lids did you put ontop of the plastic cup ? Do they need to have holes ontop or does machine poke a hole, asking becuase id like to do the same with ours, thanks
Ty...I didn't know about the caps or lids...went into eBay, ordered some 15 for 7.99. Free shipping. Got it going now. Thanks again
you can get a basket that does not need you to remove the funnel assembly they have a little flip top and they just replace the disposable cup
You can align the bottom hole with the needle. That way you will only have One hole in the bottom.
I loved this video!! Very informative :D :D I bought the my kcup to make coffee using my own grounds but made a mess because I packed it on too tight. Thank you for all your info keep the vids coming!!
I,ve got a quick question, does you put the peanut sauce in the ice box or the pantry?
Thank you for making this video. It really helped to make my decision to buy the MY KAP lids. Love them.
Refresh coffee tastes much better. Don't pack them in advance.
