    Great review, Morten! The Lil Dude 6 is a fantastic mast.
    I got mine a few weeks back and so far it is working out great for me.

      Thanks Shane. The compactness of that mast was what attracted me to it, and it is very well made.

    Well made I am sure (pole and video). My issue with carbon fibre masts in general is that they tend to detune wires attached to them as verticals and are not great at enabling wire attached as a vertical to radiate. As a centre point of an inverted v I’d say they are fine, but that in itself does limit its use case. As an all round solution a 6m fibre glass pole would do the job better (in my imho and use case). Even if it would be a little heavier. 73

      @@timg5tm941 I was waiting for the carbon fiber mast comment. Yes, you are right, and this is not the only tool in my toolbox. I have several different fiberglass masts as well. This one is great because it’s compact and rigid.

      Tim, Richard from SotaBeams disproved this a few years back. The carbon content is low and doesn't affect resonance. I've used HF and VHF verticals with my carbon 6 and would have to agree.
      Cheers, Fraser

      Don't worry guys, there will be some testing on this happening at some point in the future. That being said, I have tried using a Rybakov on LB7VJs carbon fiber mast with absolutely no issues at all.

    Morten, does that rubber stopper detach? I'd be concerned about the additional wind loading with that bulk on the tip. Also, threading a wire through it seems to be fiddly. Maybe a permanent loop could be arranged?
    For years we had just one carbon mast and now we have three to choose from, so that means there should be something for everyone.
    Personally, I'll stick with the carbon 6 for now. Thanks for sharing 😊

      Yes, the topper detaches. It is just pressure fit on top of it. Threading the wire through is not really that difficult when you're not trying to film it. It's funny how difficult things get when you try filming. I have not tried the Carbon 6, but I have considered it many times. What made me decide on buying this mast was simply because I know Sean W9FFF and I wanted to support his small ham radio business. The fact that the mast was as good as it is is just an added bonus.

    Not sure comparing a 10M DX Commander pole to a 6M pole is valid ! If you ignore the top 4M of the DXC then yes. 👍

      @@G5STU The DX Commander mast is great, but not as stiff. And that’s my frame of reference unfortunately. If you want to see it compared to a Sotabeams Carbon 6 you can check out LB5JJ’s channel.

    What the hell is this thing and why did youtube recommend it

    • @LB0FI
      @LB0FI  2 месяца назад

      It's a six meter long compact antenna mast, primarily for ham radio. As with the why RUclips recommends it is a question of your viewing habits.
