Imagine being in a German Bomber and seeing that formation coming towards you. I thought that when the formation came into view, my heart actually jumped a bit. A beautiful sight to behold. Happy that so many Spits and Hurricanes still flying. R.I.P to the Queen.
Brings me to tears seeing, hearing and ‘feeling’ these magnificent warbirds. It is especially poignant given that the Queen has just passed. Thank God for the brave men that flew these planes in order to keep us free. Cannot wait to get into a Spitfire at Goodwood next year. Nice video…Thank You! I hope that air shows like these go on annually forever. Thank God for the Queen and Sir Winston Churchill.
Wow! You're getting into a Spitfire next year!! That is Amazing! I agree with every word you said. I'm a 63 y/o Englishman. (Since Sept 7! I'm glad she didn't die on my birthday!). Thanks for Everything Big Liz! You will not be forgotten. And neither will the fighters of our World Wars. Total Respect
@@DiversParadise69 Random fact, but your 63rd birthday last week makes you exactly 30 years younger than my Dad. 7th September is always a poignant day for me. He would've turned 93 last week, if he was still here, but sadly passed in 2006. I guess he was fortunate to still only be 16 when the war ended, as he lived a good life thanks to those who were less fortunate and gave their lives to preserve our freedoms.
@@jonathansteadman7935 sadly most of these people taking the credit for winning when they weren’t even born won’t know of Dowding and Park and how they were victims in a power struggle by senior RAF officers - shame.
I was there today ...Sunday! A fantastic show of WW2 planes. I have never seen so many spitfires flying together anywhere and it was such a privilege. Very emotional! ❤️
For an ex-RNZAF serviceman, a WWII history buff, and aviation enthusiast like me, this is real _"lump in the throat"_ stuff. Thank you so much for uploading - Long live the King!
i was there ... this was the climax of an incredible afternoon of displays, which started with a two minute silence in memory of her majesty. an unforgettable day
Just stunning, Thank you PlanesTV, awesome footage and the sound of those beautiful Merlin engines always makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. These aircraft need to do a memorial flypast at Her Majesty's funeral
@@drd6416 You sound dangerously like the threat that these aircraft were built to fight against. This is not the place to show that kind of disrespect. Compelled patriotism is not patriotism. Enforced patriotism is *_not_* patriotism.
So glad to see some of these still flying. My father was in the Fleet Air Arm and flew several models of Spitfires, Hurricanes, Grumman Martlets and some others. I even have his leather flying helmet.
Magnificent to see so many spitfires and hurricanes flying it must have taken incredible effort to achieve this. Thank you everyone involved. Truly stupendous
What a great moment to see all those spitfires and hurricanes on display. A couple of weeks ago. My dad Jim O'Dwyer, myself Michael ODwyer and friend Roy Griggs. Were at Duxford, to meet the curator of the museum, to see my dad's wartime, flying Log book as,my dad was a rear gunner in the Lancaster bomber, 101,squadron during the the war. The curator was honoured to meet up with him to chat about his experiences and go through his log book which was all about the bomber missions that he experienced.
As much as I love the spitfire and it is my favourite aircraft of all time they are becoming rather common these days. Seeing four hurricanes in the air together now that's special. 👌
Hats off and salute from America to our friends in England. (Funny at 5:51 that several birds appear to join the formation. I guess they deserve it since they've being flying much longer than we humans). Good granddad at 8:44.
Watching this with my headphones on ….volume turned up , I enjoy watching the modern jets ….but the sound of the Rolls-Royce merlin means freedom to me . Thanks planes TV 👍
as an American who's descendants stood with Britain in WW1 and WW2, this puts a lump in my throat, and it is wonderful to see, it makes me think what would be even better would be if there was every kind of allied aircraft taking off from this field at the same time, sort of a re-enactment of a world war II typical sortee. Perhaps get a thousand aircraft in the air at the same time.. how awe inspiring would that be.
Crying like a baby....didn't think I had it in me....but Her Majesty would've loved this. Made all the more special to me by the chap at the end...back to us as the National Anthem played who took his hat off... and then gave such a nudge to his son (?) to remove his! Well done sir....respect.
A brilliant tribute all round, to the time when national freedom was challenged , to the brave pilots of those wonderful machines and to the Queen who lived through it, who so recently died - had it all really - thanks !
Looking forward to seeing this with my parents on Sunday. My Grandfather commenced his RAF career at the age of 16 at Duxford. He went on to get his OBE for his service to RAF, he travelled around the world with his RAF career. He inspired me to join the military, albeit the army, I wanted to join the Army. I will always remember my grandfather. xxxx
First class 👏 the sound of the Rolls Royce Merlin's filling the air once again for freedom, Angels on our shoulders always RIP to Her majesty the Queen 👑 who will be with us always until we All MEET AGAIN 💞🙏👏🕊️
For me, it comes a very close second to Concorde. But for what it represents and the emotions it stirs in many, I feel the Spitfire is the greatest aircraft of all.
Nice to see so many Hurricanes flying together, for me an underrated aircraft and for me dare I say - better looking! Never could get my head around the elliptical wing of the Spit - much better when it was clipped (sacrilege I know)
I watch this film with mixed emotions. My father saw k 5054 flying when he played near Eastleigh airport. My late aunt worked at the Rolls Royce plant in Derby building Merlin engines. On October with 2017, I went to Westhampnett airfield for a flight in a Spitfire no 9. I took my mother and father with me and they spent a wonderful day watching the Spitfires flying. On our return home, my dad collapsed and died in my arms. His last day was watching Spitfires flying. A great but sad day.
My mum was in London through the Blitz. Whenever she heard a Spitfire at an airshow the memories set her of crying. Imagine mothers running with their babies and children for air raid shelters as the RAF fought off the Nazis.
Thank you, I was privileged to know - many years ago now - one of those few who flew. He never spoke of it, his life paused in 1939 and resumed again in 1945/6 when he returned to his previous occupation at the Bank of England. Thank you for keeping their memories alive and for brilliant photography of the display. Just wish there was also a WWI flight, it would be absolutely fabulous to see those bi-planes (or replicas of them) that were flown so bravely in that war in all their glory once again.
I remember a few Farnborough airshows ago they did have a ww1 section where a few biplanes mustered over the friends house I was at before doing a flypast. It's funny watching them as they don't fly in the same way as later planes - often they would just turn the rudder and the plane would point in a different direction to the one it was moving in then slowly it would start to move that direction 🤣🤣 they appeared to have way more lift than power - which I guess is true!
I absolutely love the sound of these aircraft!!!!! It’s even more epic in person! BELIEVE ME you will love the sound of these aircraft! They are soooo loud in person
On my last visit to the UK in 2018, I was driving in the country side on my way from Chartwell back to London when I say a flash in front of me and banking to the left was a Spitfire. I'd recognize those wings anywhere. What a joyful surprise

A wonderful sight. The sound of a Merlin engine always, always brings me out in goosebumps - I was born 18 years after the war ended, and yet, the sight and sound of these astonishing machines always brings a tear to my eye.
