What a wonderful sight which brought back many memories. I grew up in Ethiopia where my father worked for the Imperial Ethiopian Air Force in the 1950's. From the two bases in Bishoftu & Asmara (Eritrea) I saw B17's fly on a regular basis. 👍

This plane definitely wins the “most aerodynamically improved when the gear is retracted” award.

The fairings were intended to double up as dive brakes.

@@shootmcrunfastwhy waste weight on separate control runs and hinges when you can dopt a simple system like this. Folland used the same idea with the Gnat. Though in their case it was just the main gear doors which entailed a separate control system.

First time I've seen one. I love it! (when the landing gear is up). It sounds great; reminds me of a Vought "Kingfisher".
    Great photography, too. 👍👍

i just saw it hours ago and I thought it was going to be one of those fly bys straight and level and slow and walked away to get a drink and suddenly this guy is flying this big airplane - because it looks big- in this beautiful loops and super vertical maneouvers, it was fantastic. The video sound gives no justice of course. The engines in person give out this thunder and rumble one can feel in the whole body.
