Just got back from Joann's buying goodies on sale. They had some Red Heart "roll with it" Tweed - Stormy blues - 5.29 0z each, so I bought 4 of them. I'm sitting here re-watching your video getting started on this poncho, my daughter yells from the kitchen upon seeing the video... "OMG, what are those called, that is so cool, I always wanted one!" I look over at her, show her the neck line and cake of yarn, and told her I'm making "one of those" and it's called a Poncho! LOL She's 27, very tiny, so it won't take long to make her "one of those cool things! ;D
Hint for those who have issues with getting chains twisted: chain a few, take chain off the hook. Put the beginning of the chain on the hook, then put the end of the chain (where it would unravel at first, if you started to frog it) back on the hook. Work as you normally would until the chain is complete. Pull the beginning of the chain over the working end, as your slip stitch. I think it was demonstrated by Jayda in stitches.

I love the colors. Beautiful.
It helps to take a small handfull of twisted yarn and put it in the sink. fill the sink with cold water. Let the yarn soak and see if red or blue bleed into the water. Many times it won't, but somes do. If I was giving my poncho as a gift I'd put it in a safety sack in the washer. Gentle wash. Lay flat or carefully hang to dry. Never use the dryer. It frays the yarn. I use woolite, even though the yarn is acrylic. Just a tip. I love this pattern! Thanks.

Hi Crystal. I am so in love with ponchos again. I remember them being so popular in the 60s & 70s.
Oh, me too! I had one as a child in the '70's and I couldn't believe how warm it was! I thought because it had "holes" between the stitches, that it would let cold air in. What I learned was that it was like wearing a blanket and I was in LOVE with it and my mom couldn't get it off of me!
