Another question chris, I have a 65 ghia, the seats are a bit different, the seat covers I got are from Tmi, they don’t slide over back frame, they just wrap to the upper and side bars, there is a piece of thin cardboard that covers the back to cover springs, i cant find a part for this, it bc also has piping on the edges, something I have to make possibly?
Hey Chris, why use burlap instead of the felt as with the seat bottom? I'm mid process, all seats stripped and power washed, sanded and painted, doing front seat now. Great video! Thanks.
Please help, I'm restoring seats for a 77 SB Vert, I'm not at all sure how to re-wire the top backs. Front seat back rest knob has no tension when i move the lever. Do you have a diagram of how to re-wire the unit?
dear Chris , I havent found any video about seat belts, so i throw my question here : do you have any idea how to restore the vinyl sleeve to the cable that is mounted to the central tunnel, where the seat belts go( next to the emergency brake)? sure we can use heat shrink but its not the same thickness and quality. it seems that the steel cable was "dipped" to vinyl (?) at the factory, I don't think they had "heat shrinking vinyl" back to the 70's. thank you !
Chris, my seat cover for the back, shown in this video does NOT cover the back. Rather, it is open and requires the hardboard backer that is covered with carpet and has the cotton strap and buckle. It has a 9 inch flap of carpet attached on the bottom with a pocket sewn in for the metal stiffener as a bridge between the seat bottom and the body floor. I am sure that you know what I am speaking about. Well,...,the real question is do carpet kits have these two precut and edging as part of the complete kit?
Chris, I love the music...more soothing than the radio...where did you find it? Also...I am ready to restore my seats. springs are de-rusted and everything straight. Painted the springs and frames and have new horsehair, padding and jute. Do you still recommend the one inch of foam?? Also, my seat lays down and has a hard backer covered with carpet. Do I just do the seat as you did and add the backer with the carpet when I choose what I will be using? Thanks...love your videos! Rick Williams in Port Orchard, WA
We are doing a 73 Super. Wouldn't you know that my DVD player crapped out. This is not what I need. I need the new rear seat back instructions! I can't remember the sequence for the spikes

Thanks for doing this video, it helps me to see how to attack this project.
Another good Video Chris, well done....and again, thank you for the knowledge. Jim Semertzides
Thanks Jim!
All my tabs on my rear seat are broken. What can I do
Hey Chris, great stuff,
What is the plastic sheeting for? Is it necessary?
Just to help make the material slide over the foam. Without it, it will grab, making is tough to pull down.
Do you pull the plastic out before clamping the cover down?

How thick does the foam need to be?
1" high density

No if you have the new horsehair, you will not need the foam, it's either or. Just follow these steps in the video and you are good to go.
Music is Dick Dale, 60s Surfmusic
Hi Chris, what’s the difference between velour and tweed? is better to use vinil?
Just different fabric textures, velour is like a very soft fine hair, and tweed is a woven tougher material. Should be on google.
vinyl is ok, but cheap.
Hi Chris, im gonna do this widh my 55 Beetle soon, I just wonder, can i skip the Rod pice ?
