Excellent video! This is on my list, currently empty shell on rotisserie for metal prep and finish welding. Maybe in March. Your series is perfect....time well spent during Covid!!! Thanks!
Great video reminding me what I need to do. I have only done 3 so far but it's been a few years. In the Spring, I will employ the cardboard and plastic sheeting method. Over spray and hairy arms woo hoo!
Shame you don't ship to Australia, I've got a 72 super bug that I'm trying to re-restore, and you're pretty much the only manufacturer of decent headliners etc I've seen recently short of making my own which is time prohibitive...
As the rear window elements rarely work, we never bother hooking up the rear defroster wiring. We went further in this car and installed rear window glass without the element for a cleaner look as well. As for the rear window vents, 1971 has 1 year only vent covers that aren't made new so we covered them up.

Excellent description in your videos; Thanks.
I like that padding!
It certainly helps! Softens the edges for sure.
Excellent. :)
Ok, NOW it's Friday ;)

We don't make the headliners, TMI does, and they might ship to you - www.tmiproducts.com.
What type of foam did you use and how thick was it, also what is the padding material made of?
The roof padding is 3/8" jute padding. The rest of the padding is 1/2" foam.
@@Sam_Mebane great, thanks
what about the rear defrost?

Is there sound deadening material in the roof?
We did line the roof with HushMat before the headliner pad, yes.
@@Sam_Mebane Hi, is HushMat equal to Peel&Seal Aluminum for sound deadening before the headliner mat?
@@armandoguzman7653 HushMat is superior to most all sound deadening materials especially those made for roofing.
this is not the original material used at the sides and back window
You are correct, it is foam.
Why do you guys work on 71 Super Beetles so often?
It’s the same Beetle, being fully restored.
