As an Indian who loves to make butter chicken at home, I gotta say that this was brilliantly made. 😍🤗👏🏻 Also it's not necessary to use red onions. This completely depends from person to person. We sometimes use a mix of both red and white onions or just one, turn them into a paste and cook that on low heat for an hour almost. 😂 Also Kashmere chilli powder is not important as well. Whatever you find works. You may use ginger garlic paste as well once your onions are 95% done. I loved how beautifully your curry came out. 🤗😍
Kashmiri chilli powder makes for a beautiful colour though... and just the right heat. However, yes, any chilli powder can be used and heat can be adjusted by other means.
@@RedRisotto @RedRisotto Exactly! Kashmiri chilli powder doesn't make a dish hot/spicy, rather it's used for it's colour unlike regular chilli powder which gives a dish it's heat and some colour. Compliments to the chef & taster+dish washer!😜 p.s.: The flat bread didn't look like a nan but more like a roti. Misquote or room for improvement maybe? Overall a job well done! Kudos!
I appreciate this comment for being flexible. I have an Indian friend that mostly uses the mix you can find in the Indian supermarket. For the sake of time and convenience.
Hi guys!! 🙋🏻♀️ As an Indian I approve this delicious take on my favourite butter chicken !😍! Lovely seeing you do it Aaron~ssi! 👏🏻 Hope you enjoy more of Indian cuisine 💜 Loads of love all the way from 🇮🇳 (ps: a big thumbs up👍🏻to Claire for using her hand to eat!)
Bonus tip for singles! The sauce is freezer friendly. You can also use shrimp, tofu, or paneer. I make the sauce, then add the protein later when I am making each serving for myself
Never thought this video would come but it made me so happy! Thank you Aaron and Claire for representing Indian food 💜 also, A+++ for ingredient accuracy and for how much Claire enjoyed it!!!
It really did change my life. I ate this butter chicken and it cured my depression, brought my grandpa back from the dead, and my little sister got a job as an accountant.
I love watching your videos Aaron and Claire! It's brought me out of my comfort zone and i've discovered I enjoy foods I would never try before! Your recipes are easy to follow and leave room for tweaking or using different ingredients when I can't find what you used. Thanks for all the work you put into the videos and I look forward to seeing another one!
What a treat! Your insights make such a difference, like, Add the yogurt and let it rest in the fridge overnight -- unless you have a hangry bird to feed, then a half hour is enough. You reduce the anxiety involved in cooking an unfamiliar food with unaccustomed techniques. You both make cooking fun!
I made this butter chicken and you were right, it's totally doable! I usually only just ordered it in from the restaurant. I love that you made this so approachable, thank you!!
Wow! I made this last night! I substituted maybe 3 ingredients. No one believed that I cooked it myself 🤣 I’ve never made something so delicious in my life. Thank you Aaron and Claire ❣️
Honestly this is probably one of the best butter chicken dishes I've seen as an indian from someone who isn't indian. But I would have to say a few things 1) we don't really add sugar at all, usually the onions give the sweetness to the dish. 2) add some ginger-garlic paste to fry with the onions. Ginger-Garlic paste is a must for most curries In indian dishes, but you added some ginger and garlic to the chicken which is okay but this came out really well especially with the kasuri methi, you are probably the first who remembered to add it, which I give props to you. its nice seeing your channel on my youtube recommendations, have a good day!
Blending the sauce was a hot tip! I will DEFINITELY be trying this one! I really love Aaron's food breakdowns as he makes it so easy to follow and offers great suggestions and substitutions, so it's lovely to see him break into Indian food as well. Claire is always the best, as usual.
When I saw Aaron's video of making Butter chicken I cannot believe this it's so accurately made butter chicken........ when Aaron said kasuri meethi I loved it!!!!❤this made my day even better........❤
About halfway through I said, where is the garam masala😳…. oops, I was a bit early but yes, it looked pretty much the way I have cooked it. The main difference is I start with tomato puree instead of whole tomatoes and use unsweetened cashew butter. Both keep me from blending. 😀
One of my favourite meals to make with newly grilled over charcoal Naan bread. Makes for a great leftovers too. It's easy to make and adjust for a big batch as the chicken is only warmed through in the sauce at the end. Great stuff! The only thing that I do differently that I use French Shallots as it has a nice flavour. I also add a bit of red wine vinegar with the sugar - adds a bit of balance to the sweetness of the dish.
Hi Aaron and Claire, I recently found your channel and I love it so much. Korean food is my favorite but the restaurants around me are so expensive, so I almost never got to eat it. Because of the high prices I never thought it would be something I could make myself. But thanks to your videos, now I get to eat my favorite food every day. Your videos are so helpful for a college student to follow along and I appreciate that you don't use lots of ingredients!! Thank you so much. Stay awesome!! P.S. I love watching Claire's reactions! It's so fun. Best taste tester!!
Hey Aaron and Claire! Love your videos! I used to live in Seoul years ago and love following your recipes! Quick question - where did you get you chef's knife?
If you trim your skin and fat, render in the hot pan with the oil and then toss before adding the chicken, it adds a lot of flavor and richness to the dish
Claire's MMmmmMMmMMmmm does it for me... haha... love your simple straight forward recipes and cooking style that just works magic at home! Thank you Aaron!

Aaron this dish was so yummy 😋 very easy to make, all the spices, I was able to get at the Supermarket in Australia except Kasuri Methi, I used fennel seeds & Ghee, I was quite surprised, however I did Marinate for 36hrs well done! genius on using the hand blender in a steel mixing bowl, no curry splashing at all. You must be an angel, haha! Cheers.....Nat 😇

Thanks Aaron & Claire! I made this! Vegetarian, sugar free, gluten free option on the carb choice (buckwheat flour mini biscuits!). Its one small tweak from being vegan!
I find apricot conserve or jam works well with curryed chicken leftovers, i add mayo and apricot conserve to make filling fo sandwich's. I grew up eating coranation chicken sandwich's for my school packed lunch on mondays and tuesdays using leftover's from the sunday roasted chicken. I will have to try apricot yogurt and see if it works, korean coranation chicken now theres a thought, maybe not a good one, but never had or made any korean dishes that i didn't like. Thanks for the recipe, Take care, God bless one and all.
