@@Carnage7209 Like most games made nowadays, this is utter crap in terms of plot and is mediocre in terms of graphics, after all, this all people care about nowadays: looking good in those 4K, 8K TVs. The gaming industry has literally died after 2013...
They definitely want the main character of the next one to be the girl. We can't have two games have a White guy as the lead in 2024, we were lucky to even get this one.
I don't get it, I can't say much for spoilers however... But frankly, I'm not surprised that's what we got if no sequels will ever be made due to lower sales than what they expected.
Deeper Context for the Ending (an interpretation): Intially Jacob's story was about escape, surviving his way through the hordes of the prison to get off planet. Then v late into the story it became about him making it right and doing the right thing (due to his past actions, and helping to enable to progression of the spread of the virus). Essentially, in this DLC, his last act was fighting off his injuries -- and through dissociative amnesia, which was needed to avoid the shock of the extent of his biological injuries, we see this violent internal struggle visualized in his mind as a fight to survive in order to get the transmission out into the public. What appears to be an ending 'that sucks because they both died', is really about two people very damaged upon the realizations and magnitude of their past actions, they sacrifice themselves or last moments in order to do the right thing for others.
Damn this game had aaalll the potential in the world to be a classic. Not just a horror one, and yet for some reason it fell flat on its face... I dont believe schofield will just lie to us. I think hes either hit his head hard or the studio interferred again, like ea did in dead space 3
To be fair, the game was originally tied to the PUBG universe, so they had to anchor the story in that battle royale IP. Once they removed all attachment to PUBG and TCP became an independent story, I would imagine that the game was too far along to be changed (all the motion capture footage was shot, all dialogue recorded, all levels designed, etc). Thus, we received a sub-par story/game and mediocre combat (the latter of which I personally liked tbh). If it had been left to its own devices, who knows what we could've received. It is a shame because I really had faith in this game and I'm ngl it left a sour taste in my mouth.
How do you get the suit to light up like that? I bought the digital deluxe edition on Xbox Series X, but it doesn't show an option where I can put it on. Is this just a PS5 exclusive thing or what?
I burnt out once I finished the main game. I'm glad someone finished "The Last Transmission" and now see this full DLC, I'm glad I didn't play it. Thanks!
The reason I feel like this ending kind of sucks is because threw out the entirety of the game, you’re just trying to escape. But one after another things keep getting in your way. And no matter how close you got to finally escaping, you ultimately die in the end. And the only reason you were there in the first place was for deliveries…

I think people coundn't appreciate the game nor the DLC because it was so overhyped, expecting it to be sort of a Dead Space 4 or something. Not saying the game is a masterpiece, but it is not as bad as people say it is. It may not have been a great success in sales, but it is still a decent game, I personally like it as much as I love Dead Space, Resident Evil 4 and classic Doom.
They literally kept hyping it up as the next Dead Space sort of game because it had the original Dead Space devs. I think it anything it kind of proved that Dead Space 3 wasn't entirely EA's fault, the devs weren't really able to make that good of a game either by that point.
@@Ghost-jj6ud I get your point. I can agree that Dead Space 3 was a mediocre game compared to Dead Space 1 and 2, but The Callisto Protocol should be seen as a franchise of its own, not a Dead Space spin off or anything quite like that. That's the problem with overhype, the expectations get quite unrealistic, to the point a game is ruined not because it is bad, but because people expected too much from it.
@@leonardomafrareina7634 😑 the gameplay was the same throughout the DS franchise. This was actually a great game. You see all the similarities to dead space. How was it over hyped? It had a good story line. People now and days want soap operas in there storytelling. Yes the combat was a bit buggy but it looks as though they've worked through it somewhat. @@smackledorfmcsween "People now and days want soap operas in there storytelling." This phrase proves my point, they expect something that was not bound to be delivered. Idk what they were thinking, but a "the whole DLC is a halucination" story just wasnt it. Jacob was one of the only things people liked about the game's story
Yeah, he really is the only thing I really liked. If they do make a part 2, this alone will be a blow in getting people to buy part 2. @@xxan84 the worst part is, now we're stuck with Dani 😫 I've never heard anyone say theybliked her, so unless we get a brand-new protagonist I cant see the next game (if there is one) going well
So by my guess, in the main game. When Jacob got rushed by all the monsters, he thought he beat them all and had ran into Ferris again but in reality the monsters tore him apart and was already hallucinating. Bleh not a fan of this DLC.
What Jacob was thinking during the ENTIRE game: "I should have listened to my momma, taken that nice navagator post on the Ishimura. I'd still have to deal with undead angry bois, but at least I'd have a plasma cutter to tear them a new one."
Maybe if he had a little bit more body coordination so he didn't fall into a pit of 100 yo zombies on every possible occasion he could have run away. It's a story of a clumsy hero.
Despite its flaws and critics hating the game I thought it was ok and liked it. I hope they do make a sequel and fix allot of the flaws of the game because this game has so much potential.
There is nothing to fix. The proof was sent to Danny. All that remains is pure political scandal. You can piece together an ending were these secret organization is revealed and arrested.

There are a lot of you in the comments that are just plain ignorant, that part in the ending where Jacob in talking is just a 4th wall break (feels like a insult rather by the devs) because he says "This is Josh" as in Josh Duhamel the actor playing as Jacob. Jacob is definitely dead and I hope there are no more games after this because there is no way this game is gonna finically recover from the shit show of the main game, idk why they didn't even include all of this BS in the main game instead of being DLC

Just beat it myself and I'll say this... I did really enjoy the hallucinations and the psychological shit...but I was really hoping for more of a beginning of whats to come I guess? I just felt like they wanted to go down multiple avenues and they all ended up in the same place, if that makes sense.
Great video and it was helpful to me :) The game divided players into those who love it and those who hate it. I have mixed feelings myself. I'm disappointed that a really interesting project was abandoned. I read that, according to the creators' promises, the game was to be supported for 4 years. Yesterday I played it on NG+ (exactly a year after the premiere) and I remember the errors by heart (Xbox/X). Nothing has been improved for a year. The creators did not expect such poor reception and criticism. They could also add Dani's story path (like Ada in RE4) Thank you and best regards 🤚
I don't think so. The DLC is a separate story after the ending. It's all happening in Jacob's mind. Shock baton is story based too. There is a cutscene for it.
Ah, the classic ''The rescue ship is around the corner, we just have to-'' and then randomly, somehow, a monster is suddenly there. And then the final boss is a bullet sponge. I'm so glad I didn't pay for this DLC and watched it here instead. I enjoyed the main game, even though it's lacking in originality.
The story sucks and so does the gameplay. How are people defending this? Would really like to know what other games you play. Only superficial stuff is great, but the story is overused, characters written not badly, but just blandly. But the worst: How this actually plays. I could see a second try working out just fine, but number one was a big number two imho.
so at the end of the first game he is already dead...torn apart by the monsters...but the doctor play with his brain for this squeal...that's messed up!
Yeah, we actually see him get jumped right as Dani's pod launches and the data transfer completes. The part after with the Alpha/Leon jumpscare likely was Jacob already hallucinating or just feeling like he's still alive in an out-of-body situation.
@Just_A_Typical_Person ...LOL. .did I wrong you in some way my friend? It's just an opinion..I think the ending kinda lends itself to him being turned into some kinda cyborg or android..
Isaac suffer from Delusion while Jacob dying being rip apart. Like Father Like Son (Isaac & Jacob named after the same persons from the Bible, which quite a fiting)
Alright, so.... The DLC brings a new way cooler look, new terrifying enemies, new glove support, new melee weapon, makes the vents an absolute nightmare, improves the melee fights with the baton, a new harder boss and overall it makes a better fighting experience and more terrifying game and it's all.... a halucination? The "it was all a dream" is the worst kind of twist and everybody knows that. This was a middle finger to the people who loved the game lol. P.S. I wanted to see Jacob escape or become an Alpha. This ending is about as massive of a "fuck you" to the protagonist as it is to your players.
A crappy ending to a mediocre game.
@@Carnage7209 not all good guys win
@@Carnage7209 Like most games made nowadays, this is utter crap in terms of plot and is mediocre in terms of graphics, after all, this all people care about nowadays: looking good in those 4K, 8K TVs. The gaming industry has literally died after 2013...

Ok that final scene is funny, great tension relief!
yea I definately see em putting this DLC out as a way of saying: yea if we did do another one, hes not coming back.
So they introduced mechanized monsters to give protagonist mechanized limbs in the sequel, Cyborg Protocol.
I think so since it might the only possible way to human next evolution?
I LOVE that they had josh as comic relief at the end
It is a shame because I really had faith in this game and I'm ngl it left a sour taste in my mouth.
they cutting off this game, because it failed and then gave the protagonist a dark ending
Going with the latter
Yanno... I think at this point Jacob and Isaac Clarke need to start a support group. Or at least get together for a quiet undead freak free drink.
Oh. OH. Uh, first... guess Jacob needs some cybernetic limbs, otherwise that drink (and all his intake) will be via straws.

Well intially it was about escape. Then it became about making it right and doing the right thing. Essentially, his last act was fighting off his injuries -- and through dissociative amnesia, which was needed to avoid the shock of the extent of his biological injuries, we see that struggle visualized in his mind as a fight to survive in order to get the transmission out into the public. Awesome video good Job I in joy it thanks for the video I Love it have a good day and Night ❤👌👍
When he said it’s Josh not Jacob I lowkey laughed but I think this game definitely deserved a sequel.
You're right people couldn't appreciate it. 😂 I think it was because it was pushed out as a cash grab playing with people heart strings in regards to dead space. When this game goes on the subscription playlist watch the ratings go up.
@@smackledorfmcsween "People now and days want soap operas in there storytelling." This phrase proves my point, they expect something that was not bound to be delivered.
Even worse is that The Callisto Protocol was published very close to Dead Space Remake, that's also why I think it may have been overhyped.
It wasn't overhyped, it was correctly hyped and it failed to deliver.

Jacob was one of the only things people liked about the game's story
Yeah it is pretty dumb. I’m glad I didn’t get the dlc
jacob is a generic white dude with no backstory and personality what is there to like about him
Yeah, he really is the only thing I really liked. If they do make a part 2, this alone will be a blow in getting people to buy part 2. Its a very bad idea to get people invested in a character and then kill him off if you plan more games in that universe. Just think if in ME 2 and 3 you did not play as Shappard and he would've died at the ending of 1.
Too bad. Time for a new protagonist I guess, and it will be a woman next time. Jacob Lee is no Isaac Clarke or Leon S. Kennedy that's for sure.

What Jacob was thinking during the ENTIRE game:
"I should have listened to my momma, taken that nice navagator post on the Ishimura.

What the heck was that ending? Of all the things that could have been done, they go for that? Not saying much because of spoilers but I really expected more from this. Jacob deserved something better.

Basically the developers gave a silent middle finger to all players who bought and played Callisto Protocol. Wonderful ingrates.
If they make a sequel id love to see where they take the story
Jacob is dead but they could continue with the girl that escaped in the main game if they do make another game
