Don't worry. The ancient Egyptians themselves weren't much more respectful to mummies than the victorians were. Graverobbing was so common that finding even a mostly intact tomb has only happened once or twice. And really often the graverobbers would be commissioned by the ancient Egyptian government to take back the riches that were initially buried with the corpses. Turns out burying ungodly amounts of gold and valuables with the deceased on a regular basis is a really quick way to bankrupt a country.
Besides, most pharaohs would be beside themselves with joy if they knew that they were still famous and their names were being spoken 3000 years after their deaths. Even if it meant their mummified bodies were moved to a museum. (The bodies are safer there than in the tombs anyways.
Thoughty2 please please please do the hollow earth theory 😭
Thanks for also recognizing ancient Egypt as black 🖤
I never knew why the called the language learning cds "Rosetta stone" until now 🤣
That’s is just crazy, I don’t care how old it is. To go in someone’s tomb or in current day mausoleum, take out they’re bodies and have a party disrespecting it. What kind of sick people does that, then it’s a body from a country your not even from. The hate was real.
White people can do what they want to a black civilization...
@@yonissaladabdi3910 it’s just crazy it was no respect for these people remains, on top of making money off artifacts. No telling where Africa would be today if it wasn’t totally exploited. Diamonds, rubber, and animals just to name a few. It has an abundance of resources that’s been exploited by people who arnt from their. Then try to label it as a shit hole country after you rape the shit out of it.
@@yonissaladabdi3910 Egyptians aren't black however.
@@yonissaladabdi3910 Egypt is in Africa but that doesn’t mean they’re black it’s an Arabian country their skin color varies from white to brown.
@@Duda-du once again if you follow the Nile south deeper into Africa and you find older Egyptian artifacts the further you go south along the banks of the Nile, it’s not rocket science. Do you find older artifacts the further you travel east towards the Middle East? So if you put 2 and 2 together like a good archaeologist, its not hard to find a pattern and a trail. It was also easy for these Africans to migrate north, why because the Nile river flows north into the Mediterranean Sea, this was the Highway north. It carry’s you from two points South Sudan where it’s the white Nile that runs into the the Nile and a branch running from Ethiopia. So it’s not because Egypt is in Africa, it’s because it’s a trail of evidence that points south. Isn’t that how you solve a crime following a trail, or do you ignore the trail and point to a direction that doesn’t have a trail.
I read that mummies were used to make paper and that's the ingredient that caused butcher's paper to be brown. The color caught on so they now dye it brown.
What strikes me the most is that Victorian folk did not fancy digging out the corpses of their fellow Victorians but were okay with unwrapping the dead bodies of people living elsewhere. Truly creeps of that time

8:10 You mean "Stealing a steady stream of statues for the British Museum and -collectors- thieves"
British museum AND thieves? Why repeat yourself?
*and other thieves
Cause the British the only ones that did it....these remains n treasures were lotted by everyone not just the British.
At least these artefacts aren't going to be blown up by fundamentalist loonies as has happened in Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan... During the riots in Cairo, crowds were heading for the Egyptian museum. Artefacts were stolen by looters from the archaeological museum in Baghdad.
They aren't theives per se - they never actually stole anything - but they may be accused of receiving tainted or stolen goods.
If you buy a stolen item, you are not a thief yourself, though may be abetting a crime if you know it is stolen. And there is no evidence that all mummies were stolen. Some poor shmuck may have been paid a penny for some mummy he found.

They were all someone’s son, daughter, brother, sister, niece or nephew, wife or husband, father or mother, etc. and I agree with you on that. I’ve too always found it disrespectful. The perpetrators of raiding tombs and disrespecting dead mummies should be given a long wrap sheet.
Lured here by the title card, which actually does not show a mummy, but a fake mummy found in an attic of the German town of Diepholz. It's a plastic skeleton, painted with lead particle in a glue (to confuse X-ray and CT scanners), a metal arrow shaft inside it's eye socket (from a toy bow&arrow) and a real human skull (probably used by a dentist student for studies in the 1950s). Wrapped up in modern self-adhering bandages, dyed brown by using black tea. And put into a kitschy sarcophagus like wooden box with way too many symbols and cloth. After making sure that this is not a ancient artifact from the outside, the "mummy" was opened and the above fake was discovered, including old potato sacks and modern kitchen tissues.
