Listening to AOC I cannot help thinking about MTG and Boebert, the difference is astounding.
We definitely gonna have to stop voting party and start voting for decent, intelligent, moral and people with integrity that take pride on doing their jobs.
The future belongs to the younger generations and I hope they have higher standards.
I tend to veer conservative, but I could not agree more. MTG and Boebert are disgraces.

Alexandria is developing amazingly well as a representative. If it wasn't for all the tiktoking and instagramming I would even call her the most professional representative of any representative under 50. We don't need beauty queens or social butterflies in congress. We need representatives of the era in which we live.

Income inequality in this country isn't going anywhere. Alexandria isn't going to end it. No one is going to end it. It's in the "fabric" of this country. You'd have to "get the money out of politics" in order to take even a baby step in that direction.

@57highland The first step there is to get Catholic and evangelical influence away from our institutions. They're manipulating our hospitals, schools, libraries, and our local communities. We have to secure secular funding to ensure that we have quality services instead of institutions being pressured into conforming to the Catholic and evangelical doctrines. If we taxed real estate owned by catholics maybe the real estate industry wouldn't have the largest, most powerful lobby in Washington.

Now it's time to pay back the workers. Workers took cuts during that emergency. Most importantly, they gave up their cost of living adjustment. That's why their wages have been going backwards for more than a decade. The CEOs need to repay their debt to the workers, and share the bounty with the workers too now that the companies are doing well. The workers stepped up, the USA taxpayers stepped up, now the CEOs need to step up.

I’m not saying communism is great, or that capitalism is entirely bad…just that…capitalism unchecked leads to dissent, fracture. As someone who has voted conservative for more than 30 years till trump came along, her and Bernie were the first people that got me looking at the left for policies.
When she was really pushing the green new deal, as someone who's always been environmentally minded, I took the time to read it for myself and saw that not only was everyone lying about it (banning cows, cars, planes, ships and taking jobs, etc), up to and including democrats, but she (and the cowriters) had really taken everything into account for a first step.
I haven't followed her closely, but every time I hear her, she's well spoken and informed.

The rich pay most of taxes. Top 1% pay 42% of taxes. The top 5% pay almost all taxes. The problem is not the rich, the problem is Biden causing the invisible tax called inflation and it is massive. This is what a competent, capable, intelligent female politician sounds like. She speaks of what she knows and her principles have been on display since day 1, as have her intergity and ethics. Her warm and generous heart has been obvious, too, with a backbone of steel. A most excellent role model for our young ones. We are blessed that NY saw fit to send her to Washington. There are others like her. The Democratic Party is in very good hands.
The Democratic party is very much not in good hands and to pretend otherwise is doing a disservice to every person who lives in this country. A vast majority of politicians in both parties are bought and paid for by lobbyists, and if they manage to stay clear of this corruption, they trade stocks based on inside information to make huge sums of money. This game is corrupted to the core and needs transformation. The few like AOC when she first entered congress are few and far between and rarely in actual positions of power within congress (eg. Bernie). We need to confront this reality or they will continue to steal from us in the form of privatized healthcare, low wages, no worker benefit requirements, tax loopholes etc. The fact that Biden is the most progressive president since FDR is a sad statement. We deserve so much more.

Corporations and banks are making it harder to live. You are forced to work to 67 or 70 years old, they say it’s because people are living longer, the truth is they don’t have the money to pay for your retirement be cause the corporations and the rich don’t pay taxes. After having read it for myself and seeing how many lies and misrepresentations there were about just that proposal, I have to wonder if you dislike what she stands for, or what people have said she stands for?
Socialist policies:
Social Security, Medicare, VA benefits, lunch programs, road repairs, 911 for help, (police & fire), Medicaid, clean water regulations, air traffic control, etc.

A: None. Trump just LIES and tells them "I already changed the bulb by just thinking about it", so they all stand in the dark yelling how great he is.
Before COVID Trump had a much better economy than we have now. $2.25 gas and cheaper everything including rent, food and clothing. That is why 65 percent of independent voters say in a recent CBS poll they are worse off under Biden than Trump.
It seems the first thing we need is to figure out why our refineries here in the US are producing far less gasoline and diesel now!! This is apparently the main driver of higher prices for everything. If we are not moving to fix this Trump or some conservative is going to win the White House in 2024.

She's been consistently growing and maturing as a politician over the years. I think, without a doubt, she is the USA's most formidable political talent. She has grown into someone willing to debate every topic, with anyone, and she's always well-prepared, knowledgeable, thinks on her feet, and her eye fixed on the common good. All politicians make mistakes and have flaws, so will she. But US you better hold on to this one for high office!

I trust her more than I have trusted any politician thus far in my LONG lifetime. My only issue with her is that I am not in her district, so I can't vote for her.

I am very impressed with Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. She came into congress as a firebrand, with a clear and stated set of progressive goals. From there she could have been a loud, but mostly ineffective bullhorn for those goals. But in the course of her time in Congress, while keeping faith with her progressive views, she's demonstrated an intelligent pragmatism and an understanding of the need to negotiate, compromise, and craft working legislation. Well done. I'd love to see more leaders like her on both the left and the right.

Batteries have a lot of problems too. Much better to develop towns and cities with more mass transit and stop the inundation of cars on the roads. I am all for lowering the compensation of these top tier people, and using the money saved to help line workers but think the auto workers are asking for much too much. People who serve senior citizens or pre school and other service industries make almost nothing. More attention needs to be given to the people at the bottom who are the ones who often do the hardest jobs.

Great answer on the Menedez question. Agree completely. AOC did seem to give into the 'gotcha' moment though that she drives a Tesla. I'd still vote for her though.

The problem with Tesla isn't the cars -- the problem is the right-wing lunatic who owns the company.
Say what? Tesla is an American company with American workers. She bought American. And yes, there were few electric cars a few years ago. Biden set the tax incentive to those cars made in the US only as a way to induce Americans to buy American built EVs. Eventually, the South Koreans will built plants here to make them. The big three are lagging behind the Europeans and Chinese. They know the writings on the wall. If we allowed the Chinese to build plants here or import here, they would be toast. The Chinese have developed EVs for every purpose.
And what does GM do, stop production of the Bolt, an affordable EV to make more EV trucks. Beyond stupid. There are EVs available in Europe like the MG4 that are affordable, have good range, and are fun to drive. Europe and Asia are way ahead of us in alternative energy and transition to EVs. When the new battery tech like solid state batteries as Toyota is developing, gets going in the next few years, and the infrastructure improves, you won’t have to worry about range anxiety.
I plan on buying a full electric affordable small truck when they get to that point.
The problem with the stock buy back and other arguments is that since we all rely on 401ks to retire, we actually WANT the stock prices to go up. The system has created a very problematic razors edge on which all of this relies.

Tesla's monitor the driver to make sure you're paying attention to the road, that is how they are designed.
So AOC is driving around in a car that is designed to monitor her and it is fully networked so that Tesla can see everything that goes on with the cars computer system, and Elon is the one in charge of that.
So AOC just has to trust that Elon isn't spying on her whilst she is driving her Tesla, and the only thing that stops Elon from spying on her is pure trust.
Support workers. But it is a symbiotic relationship and CEO compensation is out of balance. I support this and the other strikes.
I disagree with a lot of her opinions and positions, but there is no question that she is a very intelligent and articulate representative. Whether she is on "my side" or not, we need more people like her in government to have the debates that can lead to better decisions for everyone's benefit.
I am Venezuelan, and I agree with the santions United States has imposed on Venezuela's government. Those sanctions are not directed to the nation. They are directed specifically to people in the government and their thievery tactics. If they decide to leave their post in government, the sanctions are over. The santions are not directed to buying medicine, food, produce... however , Venezuela's government uses it as an excuse for not having those things in the country while they are missusing oil industries' income and filling their pockets with it.
It is not easy for Venezuela's to get a job that will support basic needs (base salary aprox. $6 A MONTH). Everything is in dollars while (by law) the monetary change should be bolívares.
It is a very complex issue, and the only thing that the santions are doing is impede the indiscriminate plunder that Venezuela's authoritarians do every day to the country and their citizens.
The 4 congressional leaders should sit down and make a plan. They can start with keeping the government open. That would be the grown-up thing to do.
She says, “for workers to get what they deserve.” If you’re a worker and feel like you’re not getting what you deserve, then quit and go somewhere else to get what you “deserve”. If you cannot find it elsewhere, then you’re certainly getting paid exactly what you deserve. Basic economics.

She's right about most of it, but when she says that these migrants are getting lots of medical care and placement and free rent and food, etc., she is validating the anger/rage that exists in the right wingers who cannot afford the very things that we are providing for free to migrants. I see the same thing in my own case. I pay almost crippling amounts of money for the same dental care that many Medicaid patients get for free or reduced costs. Lots of middle class people are living paycheck to paycheck and have no access or limited access to medical and especially dental care, and these people see those who aren't even Americans or who do not even try to work get benefits for nothing (and their "chicks for free." Sorry, I had to do that)
Since she's a vocal proponent for universal health care, I think she would agree with your view on that matter.
