loved the first game and super excited for this! having separate portal controls was awesome because you could keep one of your portals in a spot to watch a key part of the map or a common rotation and then get back to it from anywhere multiple times. it would be nice if they kept that as an option.
there is still that option to have separate keybinds to make portals from what ive seen. You just cant have separate keybinds to break your own portals, currently it breaks both.
@@RedfernYT for me it seems like a lot of the things are direct improvements to the way the game plays, but ill have to wait and see for myself when its out

I LOVED Splitgate 1. The single-respawn and otherwise round-based modes were so much fun. Unfortunately there just wasn't enough content and support for the game. A few more weapons or maps and challenges that had grind-aspect would have been cool. Splitgate 2 seems nice, but I have my doubts about class-based gameplay. The biggest annoyance for me is for now the shields, they work so rarely in FPS games. Also I hope there won't be OP abilities with too low cooldowns suçh as is XDefiant. Overall happy to see Splitgate getting a sequel, and hoping it'll be a fun one. Good to know they got Drift0r to give feedback too!

You can bind the portals into two unique buttons like SG1 if you want to. Also, the see-through features of portals are identical to SG1 as far as I can tell. The biggest problem of SG1 seemed to be that the portals (when used properly) completely broke the maps and the flow of the game. I can understand that the maps feel worse starting out, but I believe that the limited portal walls in SG2 will play far better at a competitive level. They don't want SG2 maps to become borderline unplayable in a month as the players learn how to use the portals. That's what happened with SG1.
that’s what made the simulation maps so fun besides the smaller teams , you could literally move faster around the map if you were better with portals which i think is a fair skill to need in a ranked mode like that

Yeah the directional audio was a problem with the first one too. Nearly impossible to tell if those footsteps are right behind you or 100ft above you sometimes
i think it was smart for them to dial back the skill ceiling a bit for overall success of the game but they made the movement a little too grounded and just dialed it back a little too much.
@IAmWhiteEagle less complex... than splitgate 1? Maybe with the portals, which is the ONE place it should've only possibly gotten more complex. Playing it rn and its only bots and there is no useful places to put the portals, it feels slower than 1, less jetpack it feels like, guns have this weird sound that is piercing my ears, its just lame. Switching portals from q and e to just e lowers the skill ceiling and gives you less control. way less momentum, guns all feel the same. Most of your criticism about the sandbox is just a personal bias. For example, 'no reload cancel' is a good thing. It forces you to choose the right time to reload and not just spam reload after each kill. This creates a skill gap, which more games need these days.
