Wood Turning - Half a Log to Half a Bowl?

  • I have a lot of fun experimenting woodturning different types of bowls. This one ended up looking like a Pringle. I think the next bowl I make on the lathe I'll try to do a little shallower, but I'm happy how thin I was able to get the wings on this one.

      Gotta keep your tool handle against your body and keep your hand on the tool rest for control. Take liter cuts starting off it will knock down on the bouncing.

    What speed (RPMs) do you turn the Bowl, after you have shaped most of the bottom and the piece is fairly balanced on the lathe? I wonder if higher speed is better for turning the wings?😅

    • @CookWoodworks
      @CookWoodworks  11 месяцев назад

      About 900. This lathe I had to move the belt to change speeds so it only had a few choices for rpm

      That screw in the chuck is called a worm screw. Most chucks come with them. Simply drill a hole as screw the wood on.
