And here I thought the day would never come, glad to see other people appreciate Whimsicott’s design. It’s one of my favorite grass types in BW. Maybe not favorite grass of all time, but it’s my standout favorite in the games there :) great video
nothing in particular to say just commenting for reach. cant believe having gone theough your channel youve been making high quality vids this long without blowing up! liked and subscribed and hopefully me getting recommended this is a sign its one of those videos youtube decides to push hard in the algo!
on second thought i have one note: it helps the viewing if you scan the next couple of lines and look into the camera while delivering and edit your clips to cover the moments when you have to look down at the script. the constant making/breaking eye contact is one of those minor no-nos in presenting. editing/clips and total lack of dead air is great though-totally nailing everything else like i say just a minor note that might help retention some people get put off my the making/breaking eye contact and click off videos without necessarily knowing why theyre having that reaction!
Great video, dude! I loved listening to your thoughts and opinions all the way through. Personally, I think the first half of the 3DS era is my favorite era of Pokemon, but I'd say that the DS era (especially the first half) is the best era of Pokemon as a whole. Platinum and HGSS are some of my favorite games in the whole franchise. Despite their slow speed, I still enjoy playing them. Both of them have the best postgame content between the Battle Zone and a significantly improved version of Kanto. Sinnoh is a really cool and interesting region to explore the depths of in Platinum. New additions like the Pokeathlon and following Pokemon make HGSS even more fun to play! I have some big qualms with BW, but I'd still say that they're good entries. I think the region design, some aspects of the story, and some gameplay omissions falter BW, but the towns and routes are really cool, some gameplay features like seasons and Hidden Abilities were pretty good, and the engine is significantly faster than the one used in Gen 4, which is always a plus. B2W2 is, controversially, a set of games I feel kind of mixed on. I think that they really ride or die on the fact that they're sequels to BW, but I just don't think that they do a good job of being sequels to BW. The story is really poorly written and some parts of BW were retroactively ruined in some places IMO. Them being split into two and GameFreak pulling REALLY greedy decisions with them (hello version-exclusive post-game difficulty modes) also really rubbed me the wrong way. Hot take, but I'd prefer if Gray happened instead. And as for DP, Sinnoh is still a good region, but MAN, DP has not aged that gracefully. Thank God for Platinum making Sinnoh way better! (I'd rather pretend BDSP didn't happen...) On a more positive note, the DS featured some really amazing spin-off games alongside the main series. Between amazing spin-off games like Shadows of Almia, Guardian Signs, the Explorers games, and Conquest, there were really awesome spin-off games during this time period. I can't decide whether the DS or 3DS had a better selection of spin-off games. The DS had _that_ many good spin-offs. Anyway, I loved your video and I want you to know that you did a great job on detailing your thoughts. I'm curious if you're gonna tackle the GameBoy and/or Switch Pokemon games. Have a good night! 👋🏾 ❤️ 💖 ✨
Thanks for the comment and the viewership! I imagine I will do the Switch games next but I'll hold off until we know for sure what system Legends ZA will be on
I'll level with you, I wrote that description at 3 in the morning as a weird reference to the immaculate conception. But if I do ever have a kid I'll be thinking of you specifically as I cradle my newborn.
@@christianmckee2116 Heya! Good comment but I definitely believe that Gray would have been much worse. Ya see the story in Bw1 wasn't lacking so other than mess up the story and shoehorn kyurem into it what would gray accomplish? Bw2s story is definitely deep but in other aspects. It mainly focuses on pokeballs and how terrible they actually are shown by Hugh's purrloin. I'm not sure what you mean by greedy decisions.... yeah the difficulty selection stank. That doesn't make it a bad game. Every game prior had no difficulty selection and those games are praised! If we got pokemon gray Unova would still have played out as an extremely linear region while wiping characters like Colress out of existence. I definitely feel that sequels were the better approach! Anyways unlike regular 3rd games they added like 7 new towns and a bunch of new routes! Also idk how you didn't mention the huge post game! You've got the Pokestar Studios, the pwt to battle literally every gym leader and champion from past games, Unovas challenge aka Black tower and white tree hollow, a bunch of legendaries with their own unique locations and stories, join avenue and everything from bw1 like the battle subway, pokemon musicals, fishing club, battle institute and so much more! They also had the memory link feature to sync the 2 games to make the games feel more seamless! Oh! And also unlike gen 4... Every npc in the game has an animated trainer sprite and they all look extremely clean! They also remixed a bunch of the music from bw1 as well as all of the different themes for the legendaries that appear and every gym leader and champion theme from each region! Pokemon gray would've had none of this because 3rd versions never remixed the music or added more than 2 areas. Also the director Junichi masuda actually stated that he knew for sure that he never wanted to make gray version because it would completely destroy the purpose of bw1! Bw2 are commonly agreed to be on par if not better than hgss especially in terms of both post game and the main story. Also just to note... bw2 unova has 20 major locations like towns and what not while Kanto and johto combined have 18 so unovas a pretty huge region! I didn't even mention that it was the game to introduce the shiny and oval charms as well as the game to introduce the "Would you like to use another repel?" Promt. Im sorry but literally none of the game feels like corporate greed. It feels like a love letter to fans and an amazing final send off to that Era of pokemon. Also the point of them being split into 2 versions made complete sense! They're sequels! And they're designed so if you are to play black then black 2 or white then white 2 you get all 3 main legendaries! Also again a single version would have destroyed the yin and yang thing they had going with the first games! The games were literally made so you'd only ever have to buy 2 versions for the entire experience. Thats the same way it is with any other region and 3rd game. Also what do you mean the story was ruined in some places? The looker missions in The first games post game showed that gehtsis was still out there and you get to see how he just completely lost it in bw2. Also you finally get to see N at peace and actually see the effects that team plasma caused during the 1st games story which the first game didn't show. Your rival is a victim of plasma. You also get to see cutscenes with memory link on why the 3 striaton gym leaders didn't help at Ns castle in the first game and how iris became champion. They were pretty much where the series peaked with extremely polished gameplay, a ton of things to do, an extremely fleshed out region and a good way to wrap up the narrative! Just think of it like this. DP had an extremely bland story which needed platinum to make it interesting. RS had a really bland story with no post game which emerald fixed. BW didn't need that. If they did do that it would've turned out like usum where doing so actively hurts the story and makes lillies character ark pretty much nonexistent. I bet that if they were to do the same and make a gray version a character like N would have to suffer because he'd be forced to start mentioning kyurem throughout the game and at the end we wouldn't have a confrontation with N where we duke it out! Instead we'd have bland kyurem who wouldn't have received fusions in the 3rd version to fight which would have done nothing but destroy a somewhat competent plot.

Thanks for the tip, it bothered me a little in the edit too so I ended buying a prompter for my next vid, hopefully it'll help once I'm used to it
