Man, I hope that the gen 5 games are revisited as a bundle of 1 and 2 in the future. Also hope they add that Hilbert/Hilda fight they chose to not include in the sequels.
can def confirm with this being my first pokemon game, did not need black and white to have a fun time. I remember restarting my playthrough everytime I beat the game just to try to beat it with a different team and it would entertain me for years and years to come. There are so many reasons for why this game shouldn't exist but it does and it's so cool and i'm forever thankful it does.
This game being a sequel to an already great game says a LOT about what Pokemon wanted to provide. In some way, it was the Johto to Part 1's Kanto where it continued things off where they left them and still gave an original and better experience in the end with the additional changes.
Pokemon white 2 holds a special place in my heart. It was the first pokemon game i ever played, and i loved it. One day i should see if i can play it again
That Marine Tube is AWESOME. I really love how they designed that, it reminds me a bit of the underwater sections in Halo 2. I'll need to play this someday!
I wish I was recording the parts where there are tons of Pokemon swimming around but the music and the atmosphere of that area gets me every time. It's so calm and cool!
Im proud to say I owned black and white and black and white 2! Loved the story specially and to this day they are my favorite games. Sad that the sales on this game were so low and now people are realizing how good these games were.
It always sucks to see how much people did not enjoy Gen 5 back in the day and are now understanding the Peak of it in the year 2024. It's kinda like for us Ace Attorney fans where people didn't enjoy Apollo Justice back in 2007 and now people are actively saying it was always good today haha
I used to dislike that Team Plasma went from a nuanced collection of members ranging from the deluded, the well-meaning but unaware, and the evil to just outright evil in Neo Team Plasma, but I guess that's alright. Even so, I wish thr Shadow Triad fight was a triple battle of your 6 vs their 9. Missed opportunity.
I feel like because they were so good as a villain team in Part 1, there wasn't much for Part 2 to bring to the table. And what they brought is fine enough
I think it makes sense, by B2W2, the mask has come off, Ghetsis has shown who he really is, and by now anyone who was having hank ups about if they were doing the right thing has jumped ship. Anyone left is really just a fanatic loyal to a mentally unwell old man or was only ever using Plasma as an excuse for violence.
It makes sense tho, since they had a big split between the ones that genuinly cared for pokemon and the ones that are just malicious. Which led to the nice scene on the bridge before driftveil city, and iirc later on you had more encounters between them. I feel like this fleshed out both sides more than just focusing on the evil
IMO; this is the best Pokémon game. No other games; not even the ones afterwards, comes close of being as an near perfect Pokémon game as B2W2 has. To me, this is still the definitive Pokémon experience. I hope there be an new Pokémon game that can rivaled or even be better than B2W2. But so far, none of them have come close.

Where else to go when you reach the top of the mountain than to shoot for the skies, am I right? I may have joined rather late into the Pokémon marathon here, but I am glad that RUclips recommended me part 1 of your Unova adventure in the time I was (and still am) revisiting Sinnoh. Both Black & White and Black 2 & White 2 combined together make for a, personally, PHENOMENAL generation that has still aged well even to this day. If Black & White had amazing presentation, they decided to crank it up to 11 with how much they decided to add to the region and even tweak what was already there. The sequels even decided to make one of the best post games we will see for a while in Pokémon... because as much as I want to count the DLCs of Sword & Shield and Scarlet & Violet as postgame, and as much I personally enjoy the games, I would really rather have a good postgame in the main package than to add it as DLC for the extra money. I really do wish that the sequels carried the momentum when it came to part 1's story, but alas what we have is a pretty average, though still good, story that is only really novel because of how much has changed in 2 years since the first games. Hugh is a pretty cool "rival" character with his own motivations and reasons to become stronger that has nothing to do with the Pokémon League and becoming Champion, a contrast to Cheren. Though, I cannot say that I like him more than I like Cheren and Bianca because of how much there is to their stories and arcs as they go in their own personal journey to become the people that they are today. I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed Colress though! He's sometimes overlooked in his debut game because of his minimum screentime in the actual story, but I enjoy how much of a morally grey character he is. He isn't a villain as much as he is an obstacle by chance, being aligned with Team Plasma only to further his research and find the answer to maximizing and bringing out the full strength of Pokémon. He has zero interest and even disagrees with Neo Team Plasma and Ghetsis's views and goals to the point where he opposes them and helps you out at times along your journey. He's just a guy with his own interests and will do what he thinks will help with his research. Can't help but love the guy, especially in his future appearances. Black & White will forever remain as the Pokémon game with THE best story of the mainline games for me, while Black 2 & White 2 will be the games with one of the best postgames and truly the definitive version of the Unova region as a whole to explore. Together, they really make for one of the best Pokémon games. One thing that you didn't mention (or am unsure if you ever got to find out) is that once you beat all the tournaments and get through the World Leaders Tournament where you can fight ALL the Gym Leaders from the regions in one tournament, you unlock the Champions Tournament, allowing you to fight the CHAMPIONS of ALL THE PREVIOUS REGIONS, and they have their own remixed versions of their themes just like the Gym Leaders! You can even fight Red too, which is simply insane to think that they included all of this when they didn't even have to. One neat feature about these games that I'm unsure if you've heard about or seen (since it went unmentioned in the video) is the Memory Link. I don't think it's possible to do tjis via WiFi anymore obviously , but if you have 2 DS/3DS systems you can access it via local wireless. It reads back on all of the information of your Black or White game and unlocks certain features, like the ability to find N's Pokémon that he fought you with throughout the story and released, the option to fight Cheren and Bianca with their teams from the first game with the fully evolved starter that they had in your playthrough as well! Additionally, you can also talk to some characters who will retell something that went on after Black & White but before Black 2 & White 2 via a flashback to check in on what they've been up in between the games. Every mention of the first games' protagonist during and after the main story will also use the name that YOU gave them instead of it being vague. This is honestly some of the coolest stuff that Game Freak has done. None of it was necessary, but they still decided to include it anyways. It's a shame that some of the online features of both Black & White and Black 2 & White 2 are just... absent now that the online services are gone for these games, but the fact that there is still so much to enjoy about Unova without the online speaks volumes to how good they are. I've been writing for way too long but there's actually one more thing that I wish to add. In the Abyssal Ruins, there are actually 4 floors. You go up by reaching the purple pillars and getting/using certain requirements. Getting to the first one in less than 190 steps, using Flash on the second one, and using Strength on the third one. You can also get the translated writing which might seem undecipherable, but if you use the Caesar Cipher and use the shift value in accordance to the floor you're in, you will get phrases. All of these will actually reveal actual lore that recontextualizes A LOT about the story that's already been told in the Unova games, and there are even some mysteries that have still not been solved today. Hopefully some of this stuff was interesting to read and not a slog to get through, I just really like to talk about some of the really cool details in my favorite games. I've rambled enough anyways. Amazing job on today's video, and I cannot wait to see what you will cover next. :)
Yeah the Memory Link I learned about it afterwards and completely forgot about it, but I've heard some fun things about it in regards to the story. It really added a lot with that and I wish again, I could back in time and play these when they released. But I love these games man, and looking back already, these were perhaps my best memories for sure. Like Gen 5 specifically added a lot of heart and soul into the Pokemon franchise and it sucks to see what happened afterwards, but I don't want to play that game right now haha.
@@Brianycus Wholeheartedly agree. I will always stick with this franchise and find my enjoyment in the newer games, but the DS era, back when things were simpler, when we had the spinoffs like Mystery Dungeon and the Colosseum games... those were the good times. I'm glad that we aren't heading headfirst into the Gen 5 remakes or even a Legends game and that we're getting Legends Z-A for Kalos instead, because that region REALLY needs to be touched upon and be expanded on. Kalos was done so dirty in comparison, and I've honestly had my fill of Unova with how much love it was given with the Indigo Disk DLC.
So for gen 5, when black and came out I was about 13 in March 2011 in the US turning 14 in April of that year when I was in the 7th grade. Just like in heart gold and soul silver I was 12 about to 13 when March when those games came out in 2010 when I was in 6th grade. When black and white 2 came out in October of 2012, I was 15 years old back then and I was starting the 9th grade as well. My little cousin wasn’t born yet, she was born in February of 2013 so when x and y’s reveal trailer came out she had a month before she was born. She’s around 11 now about start the sixth grade. I’m now 27 years old as of 2024. I wished that sun and moon and x and y had sequels to them. Sun and moon were perfect for sequels to came out instead of alternate universe for ultra sun and moon like what we got. As for me, I will always like Pokémon since I was three in 2000 while watching the anime first then played the mainline games. In black and white 2, I was playing black tower and white tree hollow before my little cousin was born in February of 2013. I had finished black tower in the last few months of 2012 and then white tree hollow in the first two months of 2013.
I think what makes Gen 5 so beautiful was the effort that Game Freak gave to these games. They improved the quality of life to a degree that it is still seen today with some of the later games, and it improved on the idea of what makes Pokemon, well, Pokemon. Which is why so many people nowadays are understanding why Gen 5 is, was, and could always be the Best Pokemon Generation of all time. And this is coming from someone who has a major love for Gen 4.
@@Brianycus well I do sometimes wish if ruby and sapphire was emerald and diamond and pearl was platinum original. I wonder how would things play out. I do think diamond and pearl should have been platinum instead. Especially the gym order in platinum with gyms switched around as well. The same for heart gold and soul silver, those remakes would be good if they also improved the levels, more johto Pokemon caught in johto, gym leaders having more johto Pokemon, and among other things. Before playing heart gold and soul silver, the only reason I knew johto as well as Kanto and Hoenn was because of the Pokemon anime since I never played gen 1-3 in the early 2000s beside the fact that I started playing video games at the age of four in 2001 with my blue game boy sp. and the fact that I knew Pokemon and started watching Pokemon anime in 2000 when I was three, it would have been perfect time to play the games. But I started playing the mainline games with Pokemon diamond in 2007 when I was 10 years old. Gen 3 and gen 4 made improvements to Pokémon’s battle system with evs and Ivs, natures, double battles, and abilities in gen 3 and the physical and special spilt and online battling in gen 4. Gen 5 had infinite tms and other improvements. Each generation has came with improvements to Pokemon. Gen 5 is the all of the experience that gamefreak had with gens 1-4 with gen 5 black and white and black and white 2. Since the gen 4 and gen 5 games were the first to use 2d with 3d aspects in Pokemon until going fully 3d with x and y in gen 6 in 2013. And just like gen 7 were also the first to use a fully 3d characters in game that wasn’t the chibi versions like in x and y and Oras had with fully 3d with chibi model characters in those games. I believe x and y should had sequels before or after Oras and sun and moon should have had sequels to them as well. There is a reason why the gen 5 games and even the gen 4 games especially heart gold and soul silver and platinum look good since the 2d with 3d aspects. I still think that heart gold and soul silver are very colorful with the colors they use and with the gen 4 engine. Still nonetheless, I still like playing Oras since I have played those games 4 or 5 times now, x and y 4 or 5 times, sun and moon and ultra sun and moon. I’ve played the alola games a total of 9 or 8 times. I also bought more copies of sun and moon and ultra sun and moon and as well as Omega ruby. I also bought a copy of Pokemon super mystery dungeon as well too that I have never played before. Super mystery dungeon and gate to infinity are the only mystery dungeon games that I’ve never played before. I never get bored of playing the alola games or any Pokemon mainline game for that matter considering I’ve been playing since 2007.
Love these games but I must admit I would've liked dialga, palkia and giratina in this game as well, since they teased that sinnoh connection with some gym leaders and the lake trio....especially the lake trio, as a 14 year old it just felt wierd to have the lake trio roaming around yet not the actual big ones....especially the underwater ruins in undella town, they to this day feel underused imo, I'd imagine bringing that crown item to a npc who in exchange offers you a special item that unlocks a legendary encounter in a secret deeper level of the ruins
I enjoy so much seeing all the love these games get, having Black 2 be my first Pokémon experience ever I just have so much nostalgia for it. The theme for Aspertia City is just that comfy music when I just wanna lay down and not think about life in general, but I gotta say it has a downside because the post game of any other Pokémon title just doesn’t impress me as much as the one for this game does, but I guess I just got spoiled lol
Basically what happened was that after B1W1, N went off somewhere to do something and the protagonists followed after the post game, which is why they're absent N can sense Kyurem cross-continental so comes to help
Instead of a black and white remake i'd love to see a Legends game from Nintendo. Zekrom, Reshiram, and Kyurem used to be a singular pokemon called the Original Dragon which has been teased in both of the games. If they could make a game based off a storyline where Team Plasma finds some new evil legendary and you have to fuse the three in order to take down Plasma for the last time would be amazing. Black was my first pokemon game, and Black 2 my second. My inner 9 year old would be ecstatic.
Wehre is the protagonist? It's only been 2 years... well: After 2 years, (bad) Team Plasma is back in action and uses Kyurem as a slave, which Arceus didn't like! But, because you (the first Protagonist) are to old now... 1. Arceus took your ass and went back in Time 2. He separated you soul from your body + wiped unnecessary memories 3. Put your soul inside a new body (including new mother) 4. You grow up and become the second Protagonist 5. You stop Team Plasma again at the proper age
@@Brianycus like I know they aren't the greatest but they are leagues better than newer trainer designs and they are Iconic as well. I'm glad you agree with me tho and her thinking pose is hilarious
@@ImaginArt24 I think as the game got more into the character customization, it makes to funny to see how Protags looked before the option was available to us. Rosa is great, but like imagine if she had more drip? She be ballin haha
@@Brianycus lol but I just don't understand why they can't do both iconic and custom then there's even more options I just feel like the new games are too corporate and just not good tho I like the art style it feels like an evolution of ken sugimori but yeah that's just my thoughts
The way i watched the other video yesterday and was so excited for this one that i clicked so fast that RUclips had to restart ψ(`∇´)ψ i am literally so excited and happy since these two were my first games ever thanks to my older brother lending them to me!! It is such a core memory about growing up and looking at this brings me to tears (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵) thank you so much for these videos ❤
🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓Ummm well technically yes dispite Pokémon black and white 2 being really good games they are not the first sequels to the franchise. Technically gold and silver where the first Pokémon 2 because after gold and silver game freak thought the series would end there but due to massive popularity we got the other games and also technically the spin-offs have had way more sequels like stadium having stadium 2, coliseum having XD gales of darkness, the Pokémon ranger series, the mystery dungeon etc
*sigh*.... Yes you are correct and if you watched the video, you'll notice I did a reference to Johto. However, I am also correct in saying that these are *proper* sequels since this is structured within the same region and recurring characters were prevalent through the main campaign, not an add on for post-game. Johto I'd a new region with a new adventure and lore that *sort of* centers around a continuity but its more after thought than here.
@@Brianycus yes I know I did watch the video it was great especially since I’m gonna replay black and white 2 properly now that I have both versions and 2 DS so I can finally do everything cause back in the day I only had black 2 and one DS that was just something I always liked about both gold, silver, crystal, heartgold, soulsilver, and black and white 2 where meant to be sequels despite game freak not liking sequels that’s why ruby, sapphire and emerald are not sequels to gold, silver, and crystal they’re just the 3rd game in the series and also Technically fire red and leaf green despite being remakes of red and blue they’re technically prequels because of sevy island ark that sets up for team rocket going to johto and also technically legends arceus and legends ZA are prequel to diamond pearl and platinum and X and Y respectfully storytelling in Pokémon is soo weird sometimes the different regions are connected and other times there not but non the less still a great video
Hold up. Gym badges being useless again? The point of getting them is to challenge the pokemon league. You're still doing that as your primary goal before team plasma rears its head as a true threat after the events in Driftveil. I don't get this sentiment.
Part 1 had the driving force of you going to get through gym badges because N had plans to go to the League and promote his agenda of "Pokemon Liberation". Part 2 has you getting badges for the league but it doesn't feel line you're really out to collect them compared to Part 1
@@Brianycus im glad you did see it! The fight with protag & cheren & hugh vs the neo plasma grunts on the ship animated was absolutely metal, arcanine throwing that serperior into the air was very aggressive compared to what the pokemon anime ever wanted to put into an episode. Makes me want to rewatch the pokemon generations mini-series again.
Yeah! I remember seeing that trailer when it released and I loved it but somehow like I said in the video, I never ended up playing the game sadly. That all changed though!
And that's a wrap on Pokemon!
Thoughts on Pokemon Black 2 & White 2?
Let me know below! See you with more soon! ~

Yes! Thank you! Hugh feels like the main character and we are just his neighbor who happens to be "good" in pokemon battles. ❤

Man...now I wish this DID happen
a masterpiece of a video game
Truly peak cinema
I enjoy so much seeing all the love these games get, having Black 2 be my first Pokémon experience ever I just have so much nostalgia for it. The theme for Aspertia City is just that comfy music when I just wanna lay down and not think about life in general, but I gotta say it has a downside because the post game of any other Pokémon title just doesn’t impress me as much as the one for this game does, but I guess I just got spoiled lol
Post Game for BW2 was RIDICULOUS and in a very good way for me. Really enjoyed my time with this one.
Basically what happened was that after B1W1, N went off somewhere to do something and the protagonists followed after the post game, which is why they're absent
N can sense Kyurem cross-continental so comes to help
What delta episode? What?
@@Brianycus I got the terms confused, I was sleepy
Understandable
Amazing work😊
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed
With how Legends gave us Arceus and now soon ZA? I sure hope they give us a Legends Kyurem so that the ice dragon boy gets some spotlight too.
Gen 5 is peak Pokemon.
Truly the Peak of peaks
Perfect GAMES❤️
PEAK FICTION BABY
Wehre is the protagonist?
It's only been 2 years... well:
After 2 years, (bad) Team Plasma is back in action and uses Kyurem as a slave, which Arceus didn't like!
But, because you (the first Protagonist) are to old now...
1. Arceus took your ass and went back in Time
2. He separated you soul from your body + wiped unnecessary memories
3. Put your soul inside a new body (including new mother)
4. You grow up and become the second Protagonist
5. You stop Team Plasma again at the proper age
...what are you talking about? 😂
@@BrianycusI'm talking about this 14:00
I made a theory 😂😅
Ohhh I see!
What are you talking about Rosa has a great design
You know that's so true now in hindsight haha
Never seen a truer title
You get it
The way i watched the other video yesterday and was so excited for this one that i clicked so fast that RUclips had to restart ψ(`∇´)ψ i am literally so excited and happy since these two were my first games ever thanks to my older brother lending them to me!! It is such a core memory about growing up and looking at this brings me to tears (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵) thank you so much for these videos ❤
Aw this means so MUCH! I'm glad you all enjoyed this marathon. I sure did and I can't wait to build more experiences with you all!
The best pokemon game(s)
Truly the best ones
Part 2 has you getting badges for the league but it doesn't feel line you're really out to collect them compared to Part 1
the way there wasnt even a clip of the black 2 white 2 animated trailer is a tragedy…absolute cinema in my eyes when it came out 😌🤍
I tried fitting them into the script towards the end but that animated trailer was AWESOME when it released. I wish I did put it in the video now haha
What about heartgold .thought this was pokemon channel yeah
I'm not a Pokemon channel 😭.
I make reviews on video games.
