Nice list. The Ganzo 727S is my go to most days. For $22 I will never feel bad if I damage or lose this knife. I have purchased 3 of these total. One is mine. Another was gifted to a friend who misplaced his Benchmade and I see him carrying it more than his Benchmade that he has since found. And the third was gifted to another friend that lost his daily carry.

    • @ibanez7412
      @ibanez7412 Год назад

I did edc one for a while. It is so thin behind the edge...makes it crazy sharp!
I only see one flaw...the blade is a few millimeters too long! Because of the locking system you have to press the bottom end of the handle deep into the palm of your hand, to close it. While closing it with speed i cut myself a few times...
For me this ruined the fidget fun factor...just my opinion

    •  Год назад

@@ibanez7412 Wow, I didn't think that is possible. On the other hand (pun unintended) my palms are rather small and skinny so it's not physically possible for me to push the handle so deep in my palm the point would cut it. But now that I tested, the margin is not too big either... Have you considered filing or re-grinding the tip to make it a little shorter?

    •  Год назад +1

Nicely done! Inexpensive but not cheap gifts :) I own two of these. I ordered second one when I thought I had lost the EDC one, but I found it soon. Now the second is spare that I can gift to a friend or start using if I actually lose the EDC.

Well I have to admit you’ve picked some beautiful knifes , that don’t actually break the bank. At $60 bucks I had to make the drop on the Civivi. The Benchmade 940 in green with the purple strip is truly genius & much more expensive. I never understood the 940 until I held it and played with it., but I fell in love with it.

My first real pocket knife I bought is the Kershaw Chive and by real I mean a knife that was a little bit of a investment at the time in other words no dollar store knives or fake army navy surplus knives. I still have my Chive and it's my gentleman carry going to church knife. The chive fits great in your little fifth pocket and it just disappears. I enjoyed it so much after I bought it that I over used the assisted opening spring and the spring broke into two pieces. The Chive is so light so easy to control that I kept it with the broken spring still in the knife for years cause it worked perfectly fine without the assisted opening spring. But my little Chive will always be one of my little gems that I pull out and Carry in my rotation from time to time

From civivi I would choose the riffle - as it is my only civivi. 😅 It has that teardrop/leaf blade shape, a thin slicy grind, easy in the pocket, yet comfortable in the hand.
From Puma Tec I would choose the 311712 - for the same reason - albeit it is excellent for its price.
And then there is the Opinel no. 8 with the carbon blade. Or stainless.

If you want a Spydiechef but can't afford it, you can get a similar blade shape from CRKT with their Overland. 8Cr13MoV and $55. The closest thing I have to a "best" knife is my Tenacious. I put the S35VN blade into the G10 handles, and it's just great. It's the biggest knife I carry regularly, and every time I use it I'm surprised all over again how much it just works.

Definitely useful and interesting video! Loved your selection of the Baby Banter from Civivi and it is one I've had my eye on for awhile now. When it comes to Ganzo, because I already have an OKC Rat II, I'd opt for the 753M, which is similar in size to the one you chose, but doesn't look anything like the Rat. Don't need two knives that look that similar. One I hadn't seen before is the Miguron Moyoarl, and that one is going on my wish list right away. Very clean design. Nice stuff!

Ok, I went to Blade Show Texas, at the SNKW Booth they have a brand I've never heard of, B,YOND EDC, this knife might be a little big for your taste, BUT you have got to try both versions of the NIGHT HORSE, the premium version has titanium scales, S35VN and is a frame lock, 4.5 " $150. The budget version, same knife with G10 scales, 14C28n blade and is a liner lock, $30, with much debate and because I had already picked up another knife I chose the budget version with ZERO REGRET, here's the thing, they both have the same HYDROLIC like action and both are insanely solid, ARE YOU KIDDING ME, insane quality that is above and B,YOND ANY and I mean ANYTHING, Spyderco, Benchmade ZT, Kershaw, CRKT and GERBER that cost two to three times more in each version. The only two knives i have, the ZT 0462, and the Benchmade Bedlam, of which both have crazy smooth action, hate to say because I have knives from all these brands, these are BETTER. With the materials they have they are MASTERPIECES and are arguably BETTER than probably ANY custom made with the same lock and materials. They don't SLAM SHUT like others do, like I said it's more of a a HYDROLIC action opening and closing, yes you can make it FLY OPEN if you want but using your thumb/your thumbnail you can get it to open slower and it just goes. You just have to try it and that's on both versions, actually the premium model is just a bit better. Yes, you MIGHT find the same action on another knife but not for these prices. I'll get the premium model at some point though. The ABSOLUTE ONLY way to make them any better is with a barrel lock but that would probably raise the price. The handle on both are the exact same just different materials and just MELTS IN YOUR HAND. I promise you won't regret it.

Same with the bugout, either the carbon fiber or titanium scales makes it excellent, especially in s90v…

So, I got the Civivi Baby Banter today. Really nice little knife, perfect detent, it allows you to fire that blade right out. First thing I did was adjust the pocket clip, I can just see light under it, and makes it so much easier to get it back into my pocket with one hand. I might shave a little off the C-side scale to access the liner lock a little easier but, I could learn to live with it as is. Also, I might take off the corner at the C-side lanyard hole so that it is not raking the back of my hand when I go into my pocket for something else... I'll give it a day in my work pants to decide. My Dremel wants a piece of it :)

Strangely, I find myself carrying my cheapest knife every day, even if I have another in my pocket. The Cold Steel Tuff Lite. It's a utility cutting BEAST, and the hollow grind is great for just about everything else. 2nd, The Thunderbird is my jam. The blade shape does EVERYTHING, and the fidget factor is RIDICULOUSLY GOOD. Now that the Magpie scales are out, I'm considering selling my red one and picking up a new one.

I'll stick with multi blades in my pocket, and a Buck 110 or Old Timer 6OT or 7OT and a 4blade Scout Knife, or a 5 or 6 layer Victorinox Swiss Army Knife and/or a Multitool on my belt, and a small neck knife.
My current carry is a 3 blade "large" (4 inch closed) stockman, and a Case 62131CV Canoe in my pocket. (both 1095 carbon steel, both have a patina on all the blades. Helps prevent red rust.) A SAK Hercules, and Leatherman Charge+ TTI multitool are on my belt. Neck Knife is a Toferner "Celtic Pocket/Neck knife. (also carbon steel, but with an As Forged finish.)
I also have a Marbles MR592 XL Orange (and Black) G10 Scout Knife clipped to my rollator (I prefer the "American" can opener to the can opener Victorinox uses.) and a carbon steel Mora N°1 in the rollator's tote/sopping bag, if I need a larger fixed blade than the neck knife.
There is no rule or law that says you can only carry one. 😇👍 I have carried more than one every day (yes, that includes school days starting in Kindergarten to College, and Church days. It was legal to carry a knife to school in my day In fact, the students were EXPECTED to have at least one knife on them during school, starting the 1st and second grade. Knives were a tool, not a "weapon" back then. We never had a school stabbing - accidental or intentional - either.) for 63 years and counting.
I prefer multi blade knives because (a) No one blade shape is "ideal" for every task (some are even downright inappropriate for some tasks. A (true) Wharncliffe, Sheep Foot, and lambs foot blade, with a straight edge and ZERO belly, are NOT suitable for peeling a critter, for example.) And, (b) They are less likely to be viewed as a "weapon" when used.

Very interesting, we share some of the same tastes, like the Vosteed nightshade and the Benchmade 940. I tend to make the decision on what to carry every day on what the day may bring but there are the knives I carry every day regardless, and these are small Civivi knives, the Clavi and the Bo. One of these 2 knives is always in my pocket, along with my buck mini tool purchased back in the mid-90s in Japan during a port visit. For the past couple weeks my large knife has been the Spyderco Manix 2XL in CRUWEAR, SHARPEST knife out of the box I've ever purchased. A Knife Center special.

The Bugout does feel cheap with the FRN scales, but get it with upgraded CF. Titanium, or even aluminum scales and I think you'll feel different.

HELP ME TO UNDERSTAND: I’ve been considering a 940, but almost all of the reviewers agree on two points; (1) it is a beloved icon, and (2) it doesn’t cut very well due to the thickness behind the edge. I get that people love the Axis lock, but what is the point of a knife that doesn’t cut very well? And how on earth does it reach “icon” status??

Good questions...it's not a great slicer but is very tough. As a utility knife it does well under abuse. I genuinely would carry a pyrite over a bugout..no joke.

front-pocket carry,, silent, quick-daw sheath pops off with thumb press, stays in pocket; very stealthy, very cool. 😎

Civivi QC is better than CJRB. I had an issue with my pyrite exclusive and spoke with warehouse manager at KC and he said that they get a fair amount of the pyrites back on return due to button lock and detent locking the blade inward. The employees said that Civivi very rarely has these problems. They swapped it out and the new pyrite was fine. Hopefully Artisans QC improves with the increased demand on their new designs.

First i bought the Benchmade 940-1 Osborne in S90V and carbon fiber scales. After i got it, i thought maybe i should have bought the Bugout instead. So i waited and got myself the Bugout 535-3 also in S90V and carbon scales. The Osborne feel’s more solid and premium in every regard..
