    Thank you for your suggestion. We are currently producing this K sheath, which can be used with Leatherman's signal and will be released soon. Next month, I will replace the whistle ignition stick function with a whistle sharpening stick, and the price will be lowered accordingly. We have also changed the spray painting process of the pliers, which is the least likely to peel off the paint and feels very smooth to the touch. As for the 5mm screw head, I didn't expect everyone to dislike it. I will consider replacing it with a 6.35 one for future products.

      @@maxlvledc I have repeatedly urged the factory to shoot the video about the G10 pliers head and precision punching video as soon as possible. I will definitely send out the video next month. I have many Leathermans and wanna be Leathermans. I am not using them to their full potential: just handy stuff here and there. Maybe that explains why, but I have never needed a stronger plier head than Leatherman tools provide. Most of the time the spring loaded tools are plenty strong, at least for me.

    I can tell you it would be pretty easy to tell if they are casted or punched. Casting flaws are easily spotted in lower cost tools. Also even though destructive, grinding on casted materials can show flaws deeper in the casting.
    Also the grain structure would be completely different looking grinding on a casted material vs. stamped.
    I work on presses for a living so I’ve seen how various types of processed metals react and perform.

    hi, great video, I agree about the ferro rod situation as you mentioned. the saw on the signal clone looks in their video ineffective, have you tested it? because I am thinking of buying it and their video (in aliexpress) is done very poorly. I would have bought the signal but Leatherman are very expensive in Israel, about twice as much as the price in the US. about the pliers, I think most of the users of the multitools dont experience problems with the pliers so I dont believe it will be a deal breaker.

    I looked at the aliexpress listing for the Dakoyu multitool and did not see a mention of the word forged or forging anywhere on the product page.
    Unless it is specifically claimed, I would assume they're cast per the price point this multitool sits at. The investment cost even in China to produce a forged part like that would make it dramatically more expensive.

    I have a super tool 300 right now that the pliers snapped off on one side. I then decided to upgrade at that point to a dual force for a stronger pliers head. However I do miss the pointed " needle nose" ends for some tasks. However the wider opening jaws are great. If those pliers are as strong as you think they could be, then it would really be a game changer!

    Punched and forged isn't the same. I couldn't find any video of the process, so sadly i can't review it myself. Is it possible that with punched they mean "stamped/punched" out, like it's done with basically all steel good, and then aften milled, effectively making it so called "billet" (not necessarily better than cast, it depends many factors, but better material is an option)?

    • @maxlvledc
      @maxlvledc  16 дней назад +1

      A forge rolled sheet will ALWAYS be stronger than the same steel using a casting process. There are dozens of research articles to this effect. It is however true that some cast steels may be stronger than some forged rolled plates, but the two would both have to be different.

    • @VikingRul3s
      @VikingRul3s 15 дней назад

      @@maxlvledc Agree 100%. It would be great to see the HRC, it could give a clue about wear resistance. Cast have a tendency to be more wear resistance, even at medium quality alloys
      PS Hot rolled has a lower yield strength than cold rolled. Steel properties is kind of my profession (toolmaker)

    I want to like the Signal, but the pliers open/latch drove me nuts. And its too heavy for my pocket. And I hate the bit driver, WTF.
    Could we just stop with the BS bits and bitdrivers not being standard at 1/4" hex.
    If the Rebar could have "good" scissors I would buy 2 more and throw away all the others (except for the Roxon SL2 Elite and the SOG Powerpont).
    The clones are interesting but always seem to be made of "quality" steel.
    Oh yeah before I forget....why make a file with only one side? Why not coarse on the left and fine on the right???
    And really I don't need a 1-1/2" ruler. At that size I can guess.
    If only I could run Leatherman (and Swiss Army knife/Victorinox) for One week!
