The fun thing is that Punk told the truth all the time. And AEW made a complete joke out of themselves when the footage surfaced. This was so surreal to witness.
Remember a couple of days ago, when Ryan Nemeth came out with his "I was threatened by CM Punk and AEW management did nothing" story? He tried to smear Punk for confronting him over talking smack behind Punk's back and all he accomplished was once again confirming Punk's claims about the non-existence of actual leadership within AEW.
This weird conspiracy makes no sense. So Punk ended a 7-year absence from wrestling, had a generational run that leads AEW to its biggest ratings, and then somehow mind controls Hangman Page to say something stupid so he could leave?

This is such a bad take, imo. Tony is to blame. He didn't want Punk to leave, but he also didn't want to be the leader to resolve issues. No one wants to work in a toxic workplace. The Elite went to Punks dressing room when he was hot. Perry went at Punk. All of that is on Tony. You can see it in the immature behavior that The Bucks were pulling after Punk left.
punk coming out for his final match vs joe at all-in with a massive grin on his face and saying 'goodbye' after the match....was a clear sign that he was finished with aew and him just doing that match was for the sake of his friend samoa joe.
And who started this childish shit? Hangman Adam Page because of Colt Cabana with his cryptic promos over a few weeks that no one understood at first except for CM Punk and Colt Cabana and the EVPs. And then in the press conference he apparently didn't hold back any more. Great wrestler, great person from my point of view...
I never understood this point of view. If someone is acting childish, should one stoop to their level? The mature and professional thing to do is to be the bigger person and try to keep everything behind close door and part ways in a professional way. Instead of throwing a temper tantrum on a press conference, making him look unprofessional and impulsive.

@@usernameperson6374When the other side is spreading rumors and lies and propaganda through their buddies in the press that you’re some kind of monster running around and getting people fired, the time for “maturity” is out the window. The longer Punk kept his mouth shut, the more they aired stories anonymously to Meltzer and Sean Ross Simp and other clowns. Punk tried to get management to intervene as is the professional standard, only for management to not want to get involved. So Punk had enough and cleared the air his way. Punk tried being nice, it got him nowhere. He tried being professional, he was ignored. So he finally defended himself; that doesn’t make him a monster or immature, it makes him a man who knows his worth and doesn’t tolerate being disrespected without a response.
You connect the dots moving backwards. When Cody was around, there were no issues in the locker room because he will conduct meetings with everyone and remind everyone that they were a team. Letting him leave was a big mistake TK did. The biggest mistake TK did is when he let Punk leave and let the EVPs take business on their own hands. Yep, Hangman Page is not an EVP but if you are an adult with common sense, why talk crap during a promo and do business for yourself ? Lets not forget the EVPs spreading rumors on the dirt sheets. Which were proven to be true. Punk is no saint. He attacked and choked people backstage and he should be held responsible. But everyone has a limit. Trying pushing someone over and over again then see what happens. Both sides have issues. End of the day, a guy who has no experience handling wrestlers who clearly have egos should not handle the booking but rather have someone else run the show. I was hoping AEW would hire Scott D'Amore but they didnt. Oh well.
Punk is one of the reasons Cody left AEW. He basically took credit for everything Cody did after he left WWE. Cody is the real CM Punk and Phil Brooks is just a fragile guy who wanted to be John Cena, a corporate suck up. Cody forced Vince to come to his house, Punk was willing to run back while Vince was still in charge with zero demands. Cody is the real one.

I find it more believeable that after the Brawl out incident he wanted to leave (he admits as much) and then he started to have talks with WWE. I doubt they would've given CM Punk to AEW and let him have a lot of awesome matches, that seems like a backwards plan.
Imagine how poorly ran your company have to be with events that could have been prevented if the company was ran by adults, that the company's downfall is being theorised as a conspiracy.
Punk was happy when he first got there. Happy to be back in wrestling and happy to be in front of the fans. It went downhill fast. The constant rumors about Colt Cabana and the Hangman Page promo when he went off script were the start of the downfall. The rumors possibly being fed to the dirt sheets by people in the company was added fuel. The major issue was Tony Khan not being a boss and nipping the rumors in the bud quickly. He also didn't address Hangman about the promo. Punk responded in kind with his own promo. Then frustration boiled over at All In 2022 with the infamous scrum rant. I think Pink was ready to quit then. He called the EVPs children and when he made the statement he was seated next to and slightly pointed at Tony as he said it. The fact that Tony sat there and let Punk rant was exhibit A to what he was talking about. Vince, Triple H, Eric Bischoff, or any other head booker would have ended the press conference mid rant. The EVPs storming into Punk's locker room afterwards and getting into a brawl also was exhibit B of what he was talking about. Punk wanted to get fired then. When he was suspended and doing rehab for his injury he showed up at Raw in Chicago to "make amends", again probably hoping to get fired. AEW instead brought him back and they did a soft brand split with Punk heading up Collision. The Jack Perry series of events was exhibit C of working with children. And we see how it all played out. Fired with cause, no non-compete. Punk hasn't had a single issue in WWE since he's been there. But if you think back to his first run, he never got into a single fight in 10 years. He may have had some people he didn't like or that didn't like him, but at the end of the day they all got along well enough to work together and do business. That's the key difference, Punk couldn't stand Triple H and Ryback and some others but with a real authority figure, they still got in the ring and worked. Punk vs Omega, the Bucks, etc could have been huge if someone was in charge and sat them down and made it happen.
12:32 how many backstage issues have we heard about in AEW since Punk left? I'm genuinely asking because idk and I think it's only fair to hear how both sides have been since the incident. 15:54 Triple H is known for getting people back in WWE, he got The Steiner Brothers and Jessie The Body Ventura back, and if you know how Scott Steiner felt about H and Stephanie you know it's a surprise
Nick Khan has stated to have wanted cm punk back in wwe dating back to when he first started working with them in 2020, there's definitely a possibility that CM punk was in talks with Nick at one point and vince having one foot out the door probably solidified it
Punk was on WWE programming for FOXs aftershow or whatever it was before he ever went to AEW. This hapened because Tony won't get his house under control.
The main things that brought Punk back: 1) Nick Khan taking a leadership role 2) Vince losing power and ultimately resigning 3) AEW being an amateur operation and having incompetent leadership. All of that led to one of the greatest returns in wrestling history.

It's crazy to think Punk and HHH conspired to try to torpedo AEW. I tend to take these people more or less at their word - Punk thinks of wrestling as a business and an opportunity to draw and make money, and the brain trust at AEW is much more interested in putting on dream matches for their own sake. I think the heat just boiled over. Punk is, love him or hate him, a *superstar*. You can see it in ratings, merchandise, online chatter, any metric. To me, it's really disappointing that things didn't work out in AEW, since he was pretty often the best thing on that show. I think there's a fair portion of fans who only got into AEW in the sense that it was a company big enough for Punk to return to wrestling in. He was never going to wrestle in TNA or the NWA, for instance. They even traded on the idea of Punk coming back for the original All In show pre-AEW. When it all inevitably blew up, he took those fans and that momentum with him.
In hindsight, Tony would've been better served suspending Hangman after he dropped the belt. Any further funny business being met with immediate termination. It really doesn't matter how you feel about Punk personally. Punk was to AEW what Hogan was to WCW. Now imagine if Hogan had an issue with Disco Inferno, what would Bischoff have done? Fired him on the spot. The fact that Hangman, and the entire Elite for that matter, have been barely relevant since Punk left, really goes to show just how badly TK screwed this up.

*Got to give credit where its due. Punk handled his own when attacked for REAL whilst injured & according to stories he came out on top when 3 men came at him.*
Bro, you have got to learn how to properly investigate the story. Punk admitted it during the ariel helwani interview that he was not allowed to discuss the injury because of an NDA, but he said that he could talk about what happened during the match that night. That means that the injury happened during the brawl, not during the match, get it? Punk injured himself trying to assault people😂. For God's sake, don't be such a mark. Have some self dignity. Don't just blindly follow anyone's story just because you like their schtick. Phil has been trash for over 20 years. The magic of cm punk is that he's so good at blurring reality and fiction. It's a great skill he has. Everyone has tried the shoot promo, but they all end up sounding too real for the backstage marks and don't add to the wrestling story. That Ariel Helwani interview shed all the light on punks' journey on AEW. Poor management that was sabotaging him plus a weak owner who can't control anything in his company. And of course a different mentality of what the wrestling business is for punk. He was never meant to last in AEW. Thankfully they got him back in the ring so he can finally come home to the WWE. The WWE now is what he's always wanted since he was hurting there years ago.
keep in mind we do not know the details of Punks contract but he has suggested in multiple interviews that he was not merely signed as a wrestler but an EVP of sorts. So he isn't a "locker room leader" he was likely signed by TK to be an authority and manager of the collision show at least
Well the positive side to him being in AEW is that it encouraged him to come back to WWE after 10 years. But I do believe the conspiracy that HHH and WWE purposely sent him to AEW and try to expose what’s really going on with Tony Khan and all the other people working there. HHH is smarter than Tony and knows how to get things done professionally. Sure HHH and Punk had a lot of bad blood but I feel like he would do it for WWE fans who never forgot about him and chanted his name for over 10 years. And to back up this theory someone took a picture of Punk outside of WWE headquarters while he was still working with AEW.
Here's the thing. What has jack Perry and the bucks done in this industry? Not a damn thing. I would have suspended Jack Perry and told him stay tf out of Punks way. The only time they've ever hit one million viewers was on the back of CM Punk and they haven't been anywhere near a million viewers since. Why tf wouldn't Punk be the leader of the AEW locker Room? He's headlined Mania he is a former WWE champion he is a former World Heavyweight Champion. Punk has wrestled John Cena, Undertaker and Brock Lesnar. Gtfoh
Jack should’ve been FIRED. You don’t tell higher ups to f off when it comes to something dangerous and then shoot on camera towards the biggest draw in the company. If I was tk, hangman would’ve been suspended and Jack would be doing shows in gcw or some shit.
@carlDJS No Punk attended a WWE show. I don't know if he met Vince at HQ some other time but he met HHH at a show prior to his return to AEW from suspension
@robrob9250 he met with vince after he returned at the HQ. When he was at the raw backstage, security asked him to leave. Most likely vince told them to get him to leave because he was still under contract at aew.
Yeah he was ready to run right back to Vince. Punk has never done anything revolutionary. Cody Rhodes is the real rebel. The guy in a $10K suit is more punk rock than Phil Brooks will ever be.
The fan theories are ludicrous, but WWE writing and marketing just capitalized on the bad publicity CM Punk got in AEW and turned it into a kayfabe storyline upon his return to WWE. CM Punk was not executing from secret plan with HHH. Tony Khan just refused to fire CM Punk after his first tantrum, and even made Punk the centerpiece of a new TV show (Collision). It was Khan's biggest mistake, and it cost him 300K weekly cable TV fans over the next two years.
I agree that Punk was finding ways out of his AEW contract after his return from the triceps injury and its just so happened that Jack Perry was the one who made it happened. Punk probably didnt feel like he was part of the AEW with many wrestlers backstage not approving of Punk's presence in the company so that only made it feel like AEW would be better off without Punk in it. The fact that AEW has no proper structural orders make it easier for wrestlers to grow big egos to dictate things to their favor. And as for Punk being a changed man in WWE now, he knows that this is his last dance before he hangs up his wrestling boots forever. He probably want to end off his in ring career on a good note and work with WWE to develop new talents as well as creating shows (since he mentioned in an interview that he was doing some of these things back in OVW). In a way, he want to redeem himself that he is not the issue on what happened in AEW. Interesting theory on Punk working with HHH to sabotage AEW but it is farfetched to say that tbh.
Right. Vince always understood this : Bret Hart, Matt Hardy, Daniel Bryan and so on... Yet Tony Khan is not the kind of guy that would hit the gym and then take a stunner from MJF.
Saying Punk and Perry colluding is far-fetched but not treating the idea that Punk and Triple H colluded just as outlandish makes NO sense. I'm not a fan of him but the idea that CM Punk would go to AEW to wreck a promotion he has friends in? To do something like that would be pure evil. I can't respect anyone's intelligence who might believe that could be true.
he didn't orchestrate it, he waited until one of the elite or the elites friends in this case, did something stupid and he handled it his way to get out of the sh!t show of a circus company.
There is one issue that puts a glaring hole in this theory... Tony Khan tried to sign CM Punk in 2018 long before AEW had a show he wanted him for All In.. it was in fact, the reason Vince allowed punk to come back to the company.... in a reduced capacity, to keep him away from AEW.
The main issue with Perry (which is never mentioned in this video) was that he was NEVER SUPPOSED TO BE ON COLLISION TO BEGIN WITH!! Collision was created as a brand split so that Punk and the “Elite” (and all their friends) wouldn’t have to interact because Tony can’t control his toys.
Punk reacts exactly how one should to dealing with Narcissists. If you’ve lived through it, you know the level of gaslighting and manipulation that occurs. He isn’t the type to mince words, and is quite specific with his wording, where the others are clearly the manipulators, as none of them have kept the same story over the past few years, except CM Punk.
I still find it hilarious that TK told people that he fired Punk because he felt his life was in danger. The man was no where near that fight. What a coward.
I still don't understand the public response to seeing the backstage footage of Perry v. Punk. When I watched it my immediate thoughts was "Oh wow, CM Punk is going to jail."
Tony Khan was the problem because he let the inmates run the asylum and not nipping shit in the bud after Brawl Out. And it's showing now. AEW has lost all it's shine because of the goofy BS that goes on in that company especially the inconsistency that is going on with their storylines as well. Khan want to be friends with the wrestlers instead of being a boss and leader of his own damn company. Ridiculous shit that could have easily been taken care of if Khan took the bull hy the horns and steer the ship correct.
Remember around the same time Brawl Out happened, Triple H had taken creative control and was allegedly calling around trying to get some of his NXT guys back? It could be that Triple H was privately telling people "if you find yourself out of contract, we'll be willing to sign you". Basically, I think Punk basically tried to do the same thing as Andrade, but given Andrade was stupid about doing it, probably wasn't successful until the second attempt at Wembley last year.
Makes some real sense. He came back, saw He’s probably one of the most over guys ever, and wanted to go back. How would He go back? By getting himself fired. Now, He probably didn’t do it intentionally, but in his subconscious, He was okay with leaving cos He knew that He’d go back to WWE. Tony Khan also knew this and wanted to keep hold of the biggest star that AEW will probably ever have.
Lmao this is an aew mark making this video. Notice he left out how meltzer & Alvarez were spreading rumors before & after the scrum & while Jericho was feeding them bullshit all because he’s mad cm punk stopped talking to him after he left wwe. If the evp’s, Jericho & hangman don’t spread rumors none of this shit happens. Also wwe stopped caring about aew as a whole when they saw what it was. Remember when they locked gallows & anderson under contract before aew started & then released them after aew aired its first couple shows. They took one look at the show & laughed & realized they’ve face bigger threats before aew. This is just an Indy funded hobby because the guy who owns it is a basement mark. I think 3 things are true 1 the AEW locker room is filled with a lot of flippy jumpy children 2 AEW is unprofessional 3 Vince is not in charge of WWE anymore
That conspiracy is insane. How do you explain all the unprofessional decisions made after Punk was fired? Punk definitely wanted out of his contract but I don't think he orchestrated it to that level. End of the day, he was looking for the company to grow and prosper, he had his idea of how that worked and then there was younger wrestlers that didn't respect his opinion. At no point should CM Punk have had to explain himself, he was a proven star and making AEW millions in merch, ratings and ticket sales... so Tony should have interjected. Tony didn't and his entire company basically crumbled, it's still there because he has enough money to do what he wants but its credibility is killed, Tony looks ineffective as a leader the product is stale and overly choreographed and they are lacking faces that draw casual fans attention.

@@platinumpagoda3079Hangman pulled a dumbass move by shooting on punk for something he never did . 🤣🤣🤣 They lied on his name and then Jack Perry thought he could run his mouth and act tough and we saw how that went . Be real dude
I don't think their was some grand conspiracy between Punk and HHH.
I think Punk just wanted out and didn't care what anyone in AEW thought of him anymore so he just kept being an ass till they got rid of him.
he only ever Reacted. he wouldve never done anything to Perry if Perry didnt instigate everything. Punk would probably still be working for AEW if nobody instigated anything against him. he wasnt being mean on purpose. they were the ones pushing his buttons - and now they eat the backlash, because nobody wants to attend their shows or watch their programs without Him.
The problem still lies on Punk, if you listen to what he said he understood it as them being okay, if he didn't get involved Perry still most likely would have said what he said.
The lack of authority in the company is still a big problem in the company, now nobody punches no one, they just dissapear from TV if they don't agree with the booking
🎶It was CM Punk all along🎶 whether the stories are true or not that makes a great song line.
Punk:And I screwed Glass boy too, hahahahahahahaha!!!

So he finally defended himself; that doesn’t make him a monster or immature, it makes him a man who knows his worth and doesn’t tolerate being disrespected without a response.
punk has beef with the entire roster of AEW. How can one person have beef with 150 people. Sounds like to me, cm Bitch is the issue.
@@usernameperson6374TK should’ve handled it then lol.
What did CM Punk claim for himself? It was the Young Bucks who saw themselves and many of their friends, apart from Cody Rhodes, as the heart and soul of AEW. CM Punk only claimed to be the dollar and the cent.
@@FernandoMartinez-pv1id sure, Cody hated working with Punk so much they ended up having a great working relationship in WWE. Punk showing up to raw in Chicago was probably just getting a feel for whether or not they would give him chance.
I find it more believeable that after the Brawl out incident he wanted to leave (he admits as much) and then he started to have talks with WWE. I doubt they would've given CM Punk to AEW and let him have a lot of awesome matches, that seems like a backwards plan.
He was hurt a lot of time he was there and had a lot falling out w the locker room.
Really good job with the video mate!
12:32 how many backstage issues have we heard about in AEW since Punk left? I'm genuinely asking because idk and I think it's only fair to hear how both sides have been since the incident.

@@1KQ_ I am pretty sure he said in the Helwani interview that he talked with some people while he was on that show about it but I could be wrong.
@blurplebear8573 oh right
The main things that brought Punk back:
1) Nick Khan taking a leadership role
2) Vince losing power and ultimately resigning
3) AEW being an amateur operation and having incompetent leadership.
All of that led to one of the greatest returns in wrestling history.
Tony Khan should never have put in himself in charge of AEW. He should have hired responsible adults to run things.

Since he returned to WWE, he probably just grew up. A mix of that and simply just not a good locker room vibe in AEW.
I definitely believe it.
I don't think punk and triple h sat down and came up with a exit plan, u had me until u said that, then I paused the video and made this comment, gonna close this window soon as I hit enter

great job on the storytelling and editing on this one.
Tony worked himself into a shoot brother
10:40 Perhaps TK may have technically terminated his contract ergo fired him, but Punk famously said to him after the scuffle "you're a clown and I quit", so I don't think it's some grand conspiracy since we all saw it coming except TK, it seems.
Some interesting theories man. Well put together video. Good job kid!
If several professionals came to you to handle a situation because for some reason you’re expected to get shit done, and then you speak up for those professionals and then you find out the boss gave the okay anyways, you’d be like WTF. Imagine if jack did use real glass and never even spoke to the camera and punk never knew. Punk did what he was supposed to do
*Got to give credit where its due.
And I don't even care about the young bucks, they are meh to me, but I've certainly never heard them say anything as abhorrent as this...

There definitely was an element of "well if you're going to paint me as some sort of monster, then I might as well be one".
it might b true
So Basically Triple H & Punk wanted to do to AEW what Vince & Hogan did to WCW
No because Vince didn't send hulk to wcw to end the company. Wrestling fans are not right in the head.
Its sin to compare WCW with AEW.

Facts
Lmfaoooooo you’re on crack cocaine 😂😂😂😂🤡🤡🤡🤡
If not mistaken, punk mentioned months ago he was welcomed by vince
Only because they randomly bumped into each other at WWE HQ
“I’ll start, Nick! Show of hands, Who here fancies themselves as a journalist?”
Punk left WWE a saint, left AEW a sinner, the man is a wrestling icon
They should build up story, not firing him
Right. Vince always understood this : Bret Hart, Matt Hardy, Daniel Bryan and so on...
Yet Tony Khan is not the kind of guy that would hit the gym and then take a stunner from MJF.
Nah, Tony isn’t here to make money, he’s here to make friends. 😂😂😂
The Young Bucks look like trans women. And I for one am proud that they can wrestle in the men’s division! 😃👍
Do people keep forgetting CM Punk quit on his own terms? He said it like a bunch of times 💀
It’s some sort of a moral victory for aew marks that he got “fired”. They’d rather listen to the horse’s ass rather than the horse’s mouth. 😂
Cm punk: " i never claimed that " 😹😹😹😹
I'm sure Punk was thrilled to ditch that 3rd class mudshow.
I also think it was a work to get Punk back to WWE. Punk was so adamant about pissing off the AEW locker room.
After the Adam Page promo, I knew CM Punk was leaving. I was interested on how.
Only reason I don’t believe the theory is because he didn’t immediately get hired by WWE once he was fired from AEW
The reality: WWE and AEW are in bed together in the same way McDonald's, Wendy and Burger King are. Competition is money 100% of the time.
So HHH and Punk planned to paint AEW as "unprofessional" by simply letting AEW do business as usual? What a devious, despicable plan.
Jericho and Cody giggling about Punk being the “the locker room leader”. Childish and jealousy.

He literally just booked a Costco worker on one of his shows lmao

AEW choosing to keep Jungle Boy Jack Perry over CM Punk is gonna go down in history as one of the worst decisions in wrestling history.
Can’t wait for the Dark Side of the Ring episode on this. 😅
Spoiler alert: Phil Brooks intentionally got fired to return to WWE.
Soon as they aired the footage I knew they were in on it nobody can tell me otherwise
I think 3 things are true
1 the AEW locker room is filled with a lot of flippy jumpy children
2 AEW is unprofessional
3 Vince is not in charge of WWE anymore
Seth Rollins said that punk was a cancer to the WWE locker room
Punk was one of the very few PROFESSIONALS in aew , anyone with sound mind can see the problem for that company .. ( such a shame )
I think the REAL issue was more about breaking glass...ON A RENTAL CAR
I love this channel
Punk was saying On Collision, which Khan did pretty much Give to Punk in order to keep Punk separate from The Elite.
He asked to be released several times, so maybe he took things into his hands, but he seems happy now, so everything turned out for the best.
I honestly feel like Punk is different because he knows Hunter knows what he’s doing he’s watched the product and ofc talked to Hunter
People have to stop doing this CM Punk QUIT! he Quitted AEW because the freakin boss is just a nice guy and not a real boss and he cameback to where he belongs and its WWE end of the story move on!!!
Horrible grammar
Punk wanted out the minute TKO kicked out Vince.
Is it a coincidence that the issues between Punk and AEW came to light not long after Vince McMahon was gone from WWE?
This is when Mr Brooks stopped being a punk and became CM Grown ass man! It's about time.
Just look at CM Punk's first interview on AEW unrestricted. Listen to what he says when he talked about making his debut, He talks about what a carny would do in that situation. He is talking about himself.
Nick Khan was the biggest push for Punks return, Khan is the money man, Punk equals money, simple
If he WAS planted in AEW that would be a mastermind move to help discredit them.
Can feel the spin from narrative
I think the issue was there was no management in AEW. Tony khan was not harder enough to deal with it
He went to AEW, threw his weight around, too expensive for being that fragile, pissed off the people that had been there from day 1. The conspiracy between punk and hunter has no weight whatsoever.
It's so easy for a professional adult to make children act emotionally and erratic.
I legit just think that WWE "risked" getting Punk back simply because they saw the whole thing from his viewpoint. There already was guys like Cody or other former AEW stars that may have already talked about this "unprofessionalism" within the company
