1:00:23 "hug of support" explanation: Tanasan buckled forward in the catch, losing the curvature in her low back which leads to a bit of compression in the lower vertebrae under that sort of load. The "hug of support" was low-tech spinal traction: decompression of the spine.
Crazy to think there's 49kg girls out there, who can lift my weight over their heads.
I say the same thing, haha.😂
Ikr 49kg... what. Then, they do this!!
Got to respect a tiny lady, strong as an ox, who can lift you and throw you out the window if you piss her off 😅
The smaller you are in height the easier it is to lift so they have a biological advantage. Don't think I'm detracting from their achievements, far from it. Just pointing it out, the same as tall people have an advantage in tennis due to longer limbs being able to produce more rotational velocity.
@@rather_be_a_catpseudoscience 😂
As a Romanian, I really did not knew we had such a strong athlete. Nobody said anything about her on the news ... what the actual fuck.
She wins silver this time
30:56 mirabai save
That was unbelievable!!
1:38:43 That one plate loader though!
That snatch call on Mirabai is the most unreal unbelievable call I've ever seen in weightlifting. You see people basically press above head and get away with it but her elbow slightly rotates and she gets no lift disapointed
I know right.
We should modify the rules to let her win even if everyone else in the competition is following established rules.
@@alanclw6024 We should modify the rules to let everyone play on an even playing field regardless of anatomical differences that may prevent immediate lockouts. The rule is terrible and came about in a time where there was still the clean and press in the Sport, in which the press out ruling was the distinguishing factor from the jerk. I don’t call it out for Mirabai, I call it out for the health of the sport and the superficial arbitration put on the standard of a „press out“
If you lift a maximal weight overhead and your lock it perfect you have lifted that weight, and if you lift a maximal weight and you happen to land in a way that makes you wobble a little but you stabilise you have lifted that weight. Saying you have not lifted that weight is ridiculous.
@Weastern film critic My understanding is that locking during the lift is what makes it a good technique since it reduces chances of injuries.
Your argument seems to be that someone's lift should be accepted as long as they are able to lift the weight independent of how they do it.
If that is so, then would you consider lifters bending their knees after the jerk to help lock their arms a valid lift?
If not, why?
@@alanclw6024 The lock out rule does not prevent injury, if it were about injury then there wouldn’t be such a importance put on the lock out making a lift good or not. It’s inherently dangerous to put a large weight above your head and much more dangerous to use momentum to put it above your head then to stop the momentum crashing the weight down on locked arms.
Also your second paragraph is very confusing, I never said anything that would allude to lifting the weight independent of how they do it. My comparison of less than 1 inch different is not the same as a comparison of pressing and jerking. And that second part bending their knees to help lock out their arms? Like they do in the jerk already? Like in the split jerk and the squat jerk? I don’t understand sorry I see nothing wrong with these things
@@KrahyzHD Let's forget for a min that Mirabai achieved her world record under that same rule you are whining about. Why do you think the lockout rule exists in the first place?
(title typo: “Mirabia” -> “Mirabai”)
As always, thanks for getting these VODs on your channel 🙂
30:56 love this moment
That was an amazing save.
That was epic moment
I love you Mirabai Chanu... 🇮🇳 ❤️
She is cute and strong
I've watched several of your videos. You guys work very well together. Thanks for all the color.
1:20:45 for thumbnail...
People who say the pressout rule is a joke are the joke. Weightlifting is a sport of ballistics. It's a throwing sport almost. Press out rule isn't the problem, the inconsistency in implementing it is.
why was Mirabai's lift a press out while Hayley's press out was a good lift. Both are good lifts but... what's up!?
The press out is rule stupid precisely because you cannot count on judges to always get it right. Therefore, the press out should be removed. "Judging" based sports are bullshit, always have been.
5:37 man I think those coaches are hurting not helping her lol
Just imagine what they do to her during private training sessions.
A good smack fires me up when I’m lifting heavy
I think it works both ways depending on your mindset
ikr
Pain improves my focus.
Love the way the Belgium girl lifts. Just her expressions show she's in complete control. Brilliant lifter.
This very interpretive "press out" rule has got to go and I know I'm not the first person to mention it. Mirabai's 2nd attempt was not a press out at all.
EDIT- After watching this whole competition, the press out rule is an absolute joke. I really feel like it makes a mockery of their attempts and clearly made lifts.
Watched it(28:15) in slow-mo and it wasn't anything. In normal speed maybe but I think it was a trick of the light
In what world is being at full extension and the weight slamming down on you and you holding it but having less than an inch of movement is „pressing out“ the weight
This is why I love sports, that kind of moments as second attempt of Nina Sterckx and her reaction and third one 33:19 is just EPIC!!
Proud of these ladies competing.
The Chinese is built for lifting from the ground up. Short height and full of muscle. Not only does she not have to lift it too high, fact that she's closer to the ground makes her center of gravity to be more reliable. She's clearly more advantaged. If anything she should've lifted heavier.
Tf kinda comment is this
@@SunshineRainbowWhitePonyits physic lesson for you.
Press out rule has ruined so many categories 👎👎👎
Ye that should he allowed
absolutely ..
A que te refieres ?
@@flaviaypunto9149el press-out es cuando el último levantamiento se hace sin los codos bloqueados, entonces se entiende que el levantador está haciendo "press", como un press militar, lo que está prohibido.
So if I understood correctly the weights were heavy
Those girls weigh about 105-110lbs.
They're lifting between 185-205+lbs above their heads. So... yea... twice their weight is pretty damn heavy
you guys need to display the body weight of the lifters, thanks for posting
Yes, 8,661 ft of altitude is extremely high! 7,349 feet of altitude in Mexico City back in the 1960 Olympics was quite hard on the athletes. Bogota is 1,300 ft higher!
I've gone from sea level to 7,300 ft in Mexico and then 7,300 ft again in New Mexico and can attest to the need of acclamation, especially for any physical activity of extreme effort.
So true I visit Colombia every two or so years. To go from New Jersey to towns like Filandia and Salento and even mountain biking on mountains that exceed 8,000 ft from sea level can always feel a difference and feel tiring for me.
Great to see awesome women competing.
Gracias por transmitir estos Mundiales; un saludo desde Ecatepec, México.
Im 31kg heavier and have testosterone, but i have only pressed 67.5kg overhead. Not olympic style, ive never trained olympic lifts at all. These petite women are amazing.
Technique is EVERYTHING. With the right technique - you can AMAZE yourself.
ngl man, this is actually pretty good. i am very invested in this awesome event.
1:35:00 That was harsh on Mirabai.
Can you tell me how that was no lift ? I see no difference.

Hiya,
Big fan of the content and coverage, just a question-
Will you be uploading future events to youtube after the events have finished, as well as paid live / on demand coverage?
I love the fight from the venezuelan lifter. She is so tough!
Congratulations mirabai chanu
Mirabai is a champ , hope so she wins the much deserved gold next time
wish her luck, boy she is strong, but these Chinese ladies are not cheating either, "much deserved" is so strong a word i would say.

31:00 wow💪
Mihaela Cambei's first snatch looks perfect! Then in the 2nd it looks like she looses her back-angle in the 1st pull and her back becomes too close to parallel with the floor; then at contact she's not fully in power-position but her back is still a bit forward-leaning. I guess it happens from time to time for everybody (except Lasha who looks exactly the same in every lift). Then at her 3rd, at 90kg it's a tiny bit the same, but she manages to save it. It's so impressive to see her, she seems so passionate but can still keep her focus when she lift's. //She then looked super in Europeans-23, but Idk what happened in Worlds-23, haven't seen it yet; but she missed her 2nd and 3rd attempt in both snatch and C&J, that's really too bad as she came in 5th anyway and got bronze in the snatch. But still, she should have had bronze in the total if she had taken 2 of those 4 remaining attempts. If I should guess, she got angry when she missed her 2nd attempt in the Worlds-23 snatch, and because of that she could not focus fully on her 3rd, like she managed to do here in Worlds-22. In any case, she is at the very beginning of her career and looks so focused, I think she will easily take bronze the next time if she can just control her feelings a little better. Then to take gold if both Huihua and Zhihui competes seems hard, but I think she will do it at some point. And for sure in the snatch. She will just get better and more experienced and she seems so focused. Wish her all the best.
When the athletes fall, sometimes give me a heart attack... So many emotions

Remove the press out rule.
Though I'd remove all motion rules in the clean & jerk then just call it the "open".
I guess lifting to the belt strongman style would look worse on tv.
Sad for mirabai Chanu she did her best at olympics 24.
Малышки-крепышки 👍👏❤️ Такие веса вскидывают над головой, что можно обалдеть 😳💪🏻 Крутышки нереальные 😍
Да это капец 😮

damn these ladies are powerful
It's actually insane how much power there is in these small women. I know only a few guys who can lift (so at all, 1RM) 105kg+ on the bench, all of them being very big guys weighting at least twice what these women weight. And then the clean and jerk is probably considered even harder.
It's probably a lot of technique but god damn this is insanely impressive.
@@ThefamousMrcroissant yes the strength to weight ratio is physics defying
Why does that one coach continuously slap the Venezuela woman's face? He slaps her from the side, then the back, then the sides again. One time even using both hands to do like a slap sandwich. No one else did that. Everyone else literally just gave a tap or press on the sides of the arms.
Well, myth busters proved it works, by increasing concentration and aggression briefly. Ive been in gym after a days work, tired. I slapped myself on face and i got the lift.
Other coach slapped butts of lifters. 😂
Press out rule makes absolutely no sense. If the lower body can flex and extend, and then work to finally find a locked out position in the fully stacked OH position, why not allow the upper body they same? Other than the aesthetics of the lift, I don't see any reason why a person shouldn't be allowed play at the elbow while finding stability, if the end result is fully stacked rigid position. They robbed a couple of great lifts with that call.
great job!
Reichardt is adorable
Wow, minus 49 kg? no wonder they have to hold on to that bar XD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Very Good Ortiz😊
She push her knee forward that's why ..
Why does the video look like some crappy 90s television? Surely you can get better video compression these days, no?
Alone in this session you can see how incredibly inconsistent the press-out rule is.
There's really no reason to keep it anymore.
