You’ll talked about all the good stuff. But you failed to mention a price. Even if it is slightly adjusted would have been nice to know an approximate of some of the items
If you have to ask the price … it’s too expensive then 😂 this entire rig is probably over 7500
The action is about $1000, the chassis is about $1500, barrel blank is about $400, scope $2200, bipod $450. gold knob/mount $85, tuner brake $250. Over $6000 and that's not including any tax, or the custom anodizing or custom gunsmithing that was done.
It’s a buck 389
@@blagdaross5953 that barrel blank is more
Than that! Lol
That's a wicked looking rifle.
I started this journey about two years ago. I'm currently running a RPR in 6.5 creed with a vortex 5x25Viper PST. I'm consistently ringing 12" targets at 1000 yds. What I have discovered is that the ammo plays a huge part in my accuracy.
Cap
I reas 140 grain is best for 6.5 creed
Same, started with a custom SAC in 6.5 Creed, thing is accurate running Hornady 147 gr ELD Match.
Awesome review. Love how Colion gives other companies and enthusiasts the opportunity to show their products on his channel.
Until you read into some of these RUclipsrs terms for these videos. Some are pretty crazy.
I don't shoot long-range anymore d/t life choices. However, the Ruger American + Sightron combo is supposed to be pretty good. That can be done for around $1000.
Very similar to my rig. For all those saying it’s way too expensive and keeping those interested away from the sport there are some nice factory options in the $2 -$2.5k range, there is even a different division for those with factory vs full custom setups. If you’re really interested in the sport shoot what you’ve got and enjoy it!!
I started with a Savage Axis II in 270. Dropped it in an MDT chassis and Bushnell Forge 2.5-15x50 and ringing steel at 1220 yards with my hand loads! I've got several top 3 finishes at my local PRS matches
@@nativewarrior5052 awesome! No need to have a high end rig, the one pulling the trigger makes the biggest difference
its really about doing the math and learning the hold and of course good hardware doesn't have to be super expensive but its pretty expensive to get it right
@@reefread1234 there are lots of free and low cost apps that will really help you out. The most important thing I’ve found is having an accurate idea of the velocity and bc.
I had issues with my PRS rifle the night before a match. shot with a Ruger American had the ammo ready. it’s got a timney trigger and kydex cheek riser, Caldwell bipod. Tossed a spare brake on it and went for it. Mid pack finish.
Also comes with a 3/8-16 UNC camera mount threads for your social media needs
Super important. 🤦♂️
😮 Finally a long rifle that will make you the most accurate man that you can be . Competition will make you feel incompetent. When you see what others can do that have been doing it much longer. So many things to learn. Enjoy your new journey ❤
Love super accurate rifles with low recoil. Fantastic, thanks for the review.
You went to the best to get the perfect rig! Derek is a great guy and always helps people around him.
Derek is great. Met him a few times. Had the privilege of being squadded up with him once before. Offered nothing but great advice and even offered to help with some cracks in my shooting game. Awesome dude by all accounts.
DI is a great team! Derek built my hunting rifle, chambered in 7SS. It’s art
Glad to see you getting into this, Colion. Every new "gun owner" friend or fam of mine that asks me (ex-MIL/LEO) about a defensive setup, I tell them everything I learned and my philosophy. Your gun is a tool for a job. I always try to steer them toward the 3-gun community. "You only need 3 guns, get em, and get good with them. Then practice with them."
What is 3 gun? For me that would be revolver, shotgun and higher power bolt action rifle for longer distances. If it's more than a 100 yards away I'm not going to know it's there anyway at my age. 😢🤓🍻
Two handguns, One small for ccw, a long range precision rifle, a shot gun and an AR15
I had the same idea but I went to 4 guns; pistol, shotgun, mid-range rifle, and my AT&T gun.
@@alsaunders7805 3 gun is a shooting competition. Pistol. shotgun. Rifle.
People run courses with targets.
@@travisstorbakken1737 Ahh, thank you, makes sense now. I don't know how well I would do with the Fudd type weapons that I prefer but I would probably have fun trying.
🤔🤓🍻
Nice plug for your buddy Derke at D1. Enjoyed all of the monolog, but really would have been nice to see some groups. It's like looking at a nicely tricked out street car but never seeing what she can do. Sure she looks pretty, but let's see it run the 1/4 mile, melt some rubber, and burn through some premium petro. So, the challenge for you is get back with Derke and burn through some 556's and show us the groupings at say 150 - 200 yards. 😀
Just built my first precision 6.5creedmoor after building a 22lr precision rig and im addicted to precision shooting! Its so much fun!
The Tuner brake changed my life as a distance shooter. Once you have the tuning process down groups shrink significantly
beautiful rifle, and in 6.5 creed...oh 1000 yards + can't wait to see your video of you shooting this black beauty
I want to see CN’s DOPE book… you know it will be special in some way.
Colion, that is one beautiful piece of rifle.
Derek is an amazing shooter! Very nice guy, was willing to help anyone in our squad that needed it.
One growing shooting sport is bench rest air rifles. Some of those rifles can easily get upwards towards $4000. That's not counting the scope. Some guys like using scopes like March optics which will blow that Leupold out of the water when it comes to glass.
Dark is a great dude gave me a lot of help when I just got back into prs at my first match at CCC. Enjoy that rifle.
Derek is the man! D&I Precision is where it’s at!
MPA makes a great scope mount, along with Spuhr, MDT, Tier One, Aduere but I think the ARC M-Brace is the best because it is BY FAR the easiest to mount with one screw at the top. Right now it lacks the added features of other scope mounts but if you add the LRF Bridge you have every thing you need.
The TRX taking off in the background was the chefs kiss to this video.
I have shot in a few competition shooting a Remington 700 Police in 300 Win Mag. All sub MOA at 600 meters.
I reloaded all rounds I shot, 225 grain BTHP loaded with 71 gn H1000.
Love my EC Tuner
Right on bro, welcome to the Impact / 6.5CM family. Running the same combo on my long range setup, but with a Proof barrel on an MDT JAE chassis, Vortex 6-36x56 Razor Gen 3
Now you actually put a good scope on it 🤣
JAE chassis worth the $2000 ?
Would you be interested in coming to South Africa to hunt game (Springbok, buffalo, Gemsbok and etc) here?
You got a nice stick there. That rifle appears to fit you really well - never saw any muzzle jump, just a bit of straight back recoil.
i went with a remington 700 308 5r... and trigger tech special... super satisfied with groups... the hornady app is great for dope... works real good... buy lots of different brands of ammo and group all of them to find the most accurate one... good luck!!!
Derek has been a great coach. Good video. Precision shooting....a great sport
Matt Hoover needs your help. You’ve practiced law before and, from what I’ve heard from you, you’re very well equipped. He needs an army of attorneys that will fight for him and us as a whole community because the whole case is RIDICULOUS
Who cares. GGWP. His videos didn't age well either.
@@wishsj1483 huh? Wtf you talking about??
@@diamondbanana-pl2435 the dude who made a card that you can use to turn an AR-15 into a select fire rifle
@@diamondbanana-pl2435 He can't help Matt, but Barnes might be able to since this case is a similar setup to the snipes case and the ATF straight up Wesley Sniped him.
@Solar Matt only advertised for the company. The company had been approved to sell them by the ATF, AND it does not make it into a select fire weapon. At best (by ATF's own expert) it makes the gun malfunction with hammer follow resulting in bursts of full auto. That was out of 4 keycards and only 1 managed hammer follow by the ATFs expert.
@ColionNoir, been enjoying your content for a long time! Glad to see you’re getting into the precision rifle game-I hope you keep coming out with more precision rifle content!
Beautiful rifle! Excellent choice on components. Looks like it hammers.
What a build. I'd like something similar in 300Win.
300 win is an obsolete round anymore, would recommend something like a 300 norma or a 338 lapua
Heavy recoil and expensive to shoot!
OMG, I'm in LOVE, with that Rifle 😍😍😍
Glad to see you entering the PRS World. MPA makes a great Chassis. You have a tier 1 setup !!! Enjoy and I hope to see you at a match one day.
Just starting to get into long range shooting. Awesome video. I learned so much. Never said, but i have enjoyed your videos for some years. Thanks, Colion.
I built a 6.5 PRC 24" Howa 8.5 lb barrel in an skeletonized SCSA folding chassis. 2 stage trigger adjustable. Vortex 5×25×56 strike eagle on 20 moa rail. Overall length with compensator 49". Total weight 15.2 lbs. Shoots out to 2000 yards. Recoil is less than my Diamonback ar15! I have about $2000 in it. It has a long list of goodies not mentioned!😊
Dam sounds awesome..
I'm building a mid range Howa 24" 6.5 CM + Burris 4x16x50 Eliminator III + Accu-Tac SR-5 G2 bipod + KRG X-Ray chassis hybrid precision/hunting rifle. The Burris has a built-in laser range finder with automatic BDC hold over calculation displayed right on the reticle. Haven't decided on a muzzle brake yet. Total cost is around $3000. 😁
@NEC Avenue why do so many folks build their rifles on the 6.5 Creedmoor that utilizes the .30 Thompson Centerfire verses the 6.5 PRC which uses the 300 win. Mag case? The PRC has a better bullet coefficient! Shoots flatter! Shoots further! And is considered a magnum. Just asking.
@@johnhammered3321 I think it's ease and cost of getting factory ammo.
@NEC Avenue factory ammo over the years has greatly improved and the cost has gone up. I've watched my Hornady 147 grain match double in price just in the past 2 years. As in other rifles and hand guns I got into reloading to cut costs. What I noticed was when checking my hunting rifles for accuracy before hunting season I found I would get an occasional flier. So I started measuring total cartridge length. Out of 20 rounds I found a few were different. By reloading I could eliminate that factor. So I started randomly measuring powder weights and sure enough it to was different. Plus by reloading I could experiment with different loads to get better performance and ballistics. Now I reload my long distance loads for accuracy and actually can assemble a round that's better and less expensive than factory ammo. The problem though lately has been getting the cases. You normally can't get more than 3 reloads out of factory cases. Factory ammo is at about $3.95 a round verses $2.00 for reloads. My reloads are more accurate!
Stellar build. Super jealous. Enjoy it!
I say the best precision rifle is the one your shooting at the moment. It is such a blast and even the journey from suck to stink was a lot of fun.
Impact Actions FTW.
No lie, the star of this video isn't the rifle, but it's homies overalls. I could tell from the start he was serious when he showed up rocking overalls.
I can win over 23 matches with a Long range Texas firearm with 8 inch gold bullets🎉😊😅
Upgrade for the level - MDT LRA Send It MV3, 90 degree mount, and Brandt Built concepts ocular housing cant indicator.
Before you 100% settle on a chassis get a Manners TCS and feel the difference
Sweet build!
Please cover proposition A in Texas its crazy what will happen if it passes. Crime bout to skyrocket 🚀🚀🔥🔥🔥
The beauty of the engineering.
Beautiful rifle, looks like you found a great guy to work with.
That sound reminded me of the boom section from the video game 'Inside'
Beautiful rifle! As for cost...with a case (got to have one) my guess is between $8000.00 to $9000.00. (start saving!) I would also love top see those competitions your gonna compete in.
I was wanting to know the approximate price. I was guessing closer to 6, but I wouldn't be supprised if it was 9k....
Ever find out what he's got into this rig ?
VERY nice.I use a Sig SSG-3000, and a Model One custom built AR-10. certified both at 850 yds.
Come on man, you know everyone wants to know what it cost!! Spill the beans Colion. Let us know what a rifle like that runs! Most of us will never touch a rifle like that. Give us the full story, don’t cut it off without the climax!
Thank you in advance
AK
Exactly! I'm all backed up here. 🤷
So many people talk about the expense.
I shoot an FN Herstal Mauser 98 30-06 in an Archangel stock with a Sig Sauer BDX 2.0 scope system and a bipod. The BDX system only takes you so far, but it teaches me where to hold for longer shots.
As sniper in the military years ago, I have good fundamentals. I also have an intractable migraine, which screws with my vision among other issues, but I shoot as often as I can.
The point is, you don't need to spend a fortune to shoot accurately at long distance. You need good fundamentals, a good rifle, and patience. Then practice.
As Jeff Cooper said, "Perfect practice makes perfect."
With those things in place you too can be an outstanding long distance rifle shooter. Would a veteran lie to you? What do I have to gain?
Love you Colion! I always learn so much. Please provide the details of the shorty rifle you're holding at the end of the vid! You're important, please stay you/true!
Some one going to get a helluva am for the GAP Grind
If you hold a 6.5 Creedmore casing and 300 WSM cartridge side by side, move the 6.5 closer to your eye and both those casings are virtually identical - one is just bigger.
Nice piece of kit!
Gotta love the new setup. Flat trigger was a good call!
I like this Guy’s “overall” enthusiasm
Haha, I saw what you did
Very nice rifle the only thing I would change would be 6 creedmoor
Welcome to PRS Colion.
My PRS rifle is set up pretty close to that I like the ckyepod better and I am running a vortex razor Gen2 with the ebr-7c reticle which is close to the pr 2 except for the marks are 2/10 instead of .25 mills I do have the Leopold pr2 I am planning on putting on a 25 Creed build
Beautiful Colion. Congratulations on the new fun stick.
Amazing 🤩I learned A LOT!!!!
This should have been in one of the 6’s (Dasher, BR, BRX, GT, Creedmoor, or Lapua) not 6.5.
Extremely proud and happy for your success and knowledge expansion within the gun community while you lead. Especially because I gain and try and spread a lot of the great info that you inform us with. Thank you!!
Love that chassis! Such a clean setup.
I’ve met Derek at a PRS match. Very nice guy and a nasty shooter. You’re in good hands my friend.
You'll love it, I have basically the same rifle, my opinion, you couldn't have done any better. I see the Gucci man helped you out.
Very nice. Thanks for sharing. I love that you keep learning and exploring. Great video!
Nice to see Derek build it but its priced us regulator people out of it. I'm just getting good practicing long range shooting now. I inherited a Winchester model 70 300 magnum pre 64, & using that to learn now. Just a farmer making due with whats available.
It looks good & thanks for sharing it with us 👊🏻
For many years, the M1 Garand was the rifle to use for 1,000-yard shooting.
I find it funny you went from a DD Delta 5 Pro to this MPA build
Speaking of Delta 5’s, I love mine. It’s not the Pro version, but I personally prefer the first iteration of their bolt-action. 😄
Camo pattern is amazing
Nice rifle. 6.5 factory ammo availability is key as I dont think Colion is a reloader. About the only thing I would have done different is went with the 35 power Mark 5 as having the ability to really zoom in at times helps, but helps even more when you can pull that magnification back to say 28 to reduce mirage a significant amount.
30+ power is really overkill for everything but f class long range and ELR and 6.5 creedmoor is a very poor choice of cartridge for either of those competitions. A good 5-25 power is pretty standard for most competitors in prs and nrl competitions.
I would have just chosen a different scope than the leupold.
The ammo you're putting in the gun matters when you get to these levels of PRS rifle builds. You can have a great, high $ rifle but then use so-so (factory) ammo and you'll be beat all day by the guy with a Walmart bought Ruger PR who is using great (handloaded) ammo (with a low MV spread). I love the 6.5CM PRS rifle I have because there are so many factory loads for 6.5CM, and that claim to be "Match-grade." But not all Match-grades really are. I tested about 6 different factory Match loads a few weeks ago on the chronometer and found the Sako TRG Precision with the Lapua 136gr Scenar-L bullet to be by far the most consistent in velocity at ~10 fps spread in 5 rounds. I do of course do my own hand-loading and have my own "favorite," a 130 gr Berger match round, but I still can't get below 15 fps MV spread on a 5 round string, but I'm working to it.
I have the "same" rifle set-up in a 300PRC with the same carbon fiber barrel and 1:8 twist. It has the consistent reach to beyond 1200meters that the 6.5 CM does not, simply because it pushes a heavier bullet faster. The 1,400fps point on the bullet trajectory (use your ballistic computer range card to see where this 1400fps point is) is where consistency will fall below P(50) hit ratio. But inside 1,200meters my 6.5 CM will beat the 300PRC all day because currently there are only two factory loads available for the 300PRC, both Hornady, and they are okay but not great in terms of MV spread. I am hand loading my own 300PRC and working up a 230gr Hornady A-Tip with US 869 powder, but that development is still in progress.
Bottom line is the ammo you're shooting matters at these levels of PRS, especially trying to push hits to ranges where your bullet is approaching the 1,400fps point (going transsonic) on its ballistic trajectory. For the 6.5CM in a PRS scenario, the Sako TRG factory ammo with the 136 gr Scenar-L bullet is probably as good as any hand-loaded 6.5CM at this point, unless you are really, really good at handloading to precision.
You are going to love precision shooting. Not as fast paced as 3gun but you will feel your heart in your chest as you exhale and squeeze
Dude. Man. These are all the precision components I would choose. Nicely done.
Thanks Colion
Colion, you should get them to market that build with your name/signature and just see if people would be interested.
I want one in 22-250 or 5.56 awesome looking coyote gun .
You know that when Colion Noir asks you to build him a competition rifle he didnt give a budget… he simply said build me the best!!!
Could have done a much better optic than the Leupold. But I chalk that up to him generally using Leupold in a lot of his configurations.
@@matthuff420 I suspect he’s sponsored. That being said, the Mk5 is really good.
That is a beautiful precision rifle
Colion, you need to come shoot in Tennessee at k&m the PRS Mecca, you'll be impressed
THIS MAN'S JUMPER MAKES U FOCUS ON HIS INFO.
Thank you my friend for always bringing us the best of the best..
Which it's not
Been thinking the same lately--- only in a 22-250
Beautiful.
Looks like a very nice build.
I love my 300 win mag with a accuracy international stock. 5 Years in the making it was Cris Kyle favorite cal , before the enemy's change their tactics. He then went to the 338 cal before his death stay safe everyone an watch your six an keep your powder dry
That is a hell of a rifle but would just stick with my Remington 700. That rifle can shoot as well as I can, this nice cutstom rig is capable of accuracy that is beyond my grasp.
Every part of that rifle build was a perfect choice except one. Leupold. Good to see you into longer range and possibly PRS. I hope to see you at a match some day. Lots of great people in this sport.
Agreed. A Razor Gen 3, ATACR 5-25x56 or maybe upto the ZCO would have been much better choice.
I’ve got the Mk5HD 7-35 and it looks essentially identical to the Nightforce my cousin has. He’s the one who told me not to waste my money on a Nightforce, and I trust the hell out of his judgement.
Vortex does make good optics, but they’re not quite at Leupold Mk5 levels. At least not consistently.
When looking to spend 2k+ on an optic, I put a decent amount of research into it. Looking through a MK5 HD in comparison to the Razor Gen 3, I’d still take the Vortex, personally.
To read some of the numerous QA issues about the MK5 from places like Snipers Hide was enough to turn me off from it.
@@matthuff420 I get it. I just don't think Nightforce is worth it because I don't need a bomb-proof optic. It's not worth the extra 500-800.
I have a couple Vortex scopes and there's nothing wrong with them at all. I'm honestly looking at getting the HD Gen 3 1-10 for a longer AR15 build or a ~16" semi-auto .308 build.
I just really like my Leupold. Great reticle. Great glass. Adjustment knobs feel nice and tactile. There's nothing wrong with the optic that wouldn't make it worth the money compared to others in the same price range. I also haven't heard of any real QA/QC issues recently so maybe they've tightened down some things? Not sure, but I haven't seen any issues on mine.
I wouldn't write off Leupold as a company just because of some reviews on the snipers forum, but I also wouldn't take JUST my word for it either. I know the feeling of reading 5-10 bad reviews and then not buying because of those, but even if it was 50-100 bad reviews, they've sold so many optics that work as intended so if you have the chance to grab one, or use a buddy's, I would really take the time to see if it's for you or not. I know I find it hard to rationalize getting a Nightforce anymore, and I also find it hard to buy a $2500 Vortex optic (the 1-10).
I don't know why I'm trying to persuade you to give Leupold a chance, but I guess that's what I'm doing XD.
Anyway, have a good one man.
And the stupid tuner brake. Better off with a APA gen 3 FB or a 419 HF M. The TB bipod also sucks compared to the Ckyepod. Had multiples of both, and sold the TB's to get another double pull. Gen 3 razor smokes the MK5 for similar money but TT/ZCO are the kings. Kreiger is also fallen out of favor. Bartlien or HH. Also needs a Send it level
A 30-06 should satisfy any rifle enthusiast just fine.
30-06 sucks hence why no quality company chambers in it anymore
Damn, that's one gorgeous rifle!! 😍
Nice build.
Love that gun / SCOPE IS A BAD MO FO!!
Amazing rifle what kind of bolt are you running
Keep up the great work you are doing. By the way I love the rifle!
