Well you've finally inspired me to use the Thursday gift card I've had forever. I am ordering my first (real) boot at the end of the year. What are recommendations? I love the Captains in brown but I am afraid they might be a bit too dressy for my more casual outfits. Is the Captain in brown too dressy for this, are there other good versatile options in the same or other boot models? I am conserned the lighter colorways are too casual.
Great video. I have been having major issues with my Presidents. I think the heels are taller, and as a result they strike the ground every step I take. After walking around in them for a day, it creates pain radiating all the way up to my back. I own a pair of captains which do not have that issue. Its unfortunate because its a great looking boot.
Thought I was the only one with that problem. Shaving off the heel pad helped but think removing one heel stack might be the solution. Only boot in my 72 years I've had that problem with. Weird..
Are the sizing the same between the two? I got a pair of Diplomat in 9 which fits 100% perfect but my President in 9 needs an insole to fit correctly (about .5 size big). I want to get a Captain next but don't want to need an insole!
It actually sounds like it IS only the toe cap. The rest are available options - colors, speed hooks, wide widths, and soles. Basically, it's possible to get the president and captain where everything is the same except the toe cap detail it sounds like. Still, a nice concise video that lists everything out. Oh and as everyone pointed out, the toe cap is decorative and not a true toe cap. Just had to tell you for the 1000th time hahaha
You didn't say whether they have the same fit or different. I had some Captains and felt they kind of had a bind where the toe cap ends. I ended up returning them and getting the Chelsea which I love. I am tempted to try the President boot.

yeah it's only lke 0.2mm thinner than most, just makes the break in easier. it's not really enough to mess with durability, it's not thin like dress shoe leather
Do you know if the sizing recommendations are different? On the website, the Captain seems to want you to order a half size smaller. The President doesn't mention it.
I am thinking of purchasing a pair of these boots and am undecided which style to go for. I needed to email the company to get sizing advice, so added a question about the two styles mentioned here. I suggested they look the same other than the toe cap. The response was the president is a totally different boot, made on different last, it has a similar but different silhouette. Also as others have mentioned the toecap is decorative and not a true toecap.
Someday I will get a pair of Thursday boots but I'm not sure which to get because there are so many options to choose from. Captains and Presidents and Chelseas . Oh My. : )
Awesome video Nick! Random question, is Saphir Renovateur supposed to smell like a scented lotion? Or a bit chemical like? Do companies make counterfeit of Renovateur?
You're probably smelling one of the oils in the Renovateur! It's primarily, like 99 and 44 one hundredth percent mink oil. It's highly refined, so it doesn't smell or feel like your run of the mill mink oil. My Bordeaux wax smells like the almond oil that's in it. It's a delightful scent, especially for people who are accustomed to petroleum based shoe care products. You can apply the stuff with your fingers, and wash with soap and water! Saphir makes some pretty amazing stuff! It's not cheap, but it *is* inexpensive. Enjoy!!🙇✨
Is there a difference between the cadets and the captains other than the ankle height? I have one of each and to me they feel totally different but look very similar.
@@Thursdayboots can confirm, and that waxed flesh is easily my favorite leather you use! I've got plenty of buddies who are full eyelet purists, and it's 100% just a preference thing. Loggers are holding up well after a wet winter and Spring in the PNW by the way, great boot!
I have martens with 8 eyelets and what I do to quickly loose the boots is I hold the top corner on both sides where the last eyelets are and shake them while pulling outwards. This way laces get loose 4-5 eyelets down the boot at once providing ease of removing the boot and then putting them back on. I hope what I just typed makes sense :)
Precisely! But the company isn't advertising it as well, their client support confirmed that it is decorative when I asked randomly as a prospect customer
Hi what do you recommend re: sizing. I've read different opinions about getting half a size down or not. e.g. I'm an Aussie/UK size 7, so what size would you suggest? If I went with half a size down that'd be the equivalent of 6.5 Aussie - I'd rather a boot that's slighter big than too small
Hey i still don’t know which one is ment for which purpose ? I want a shoes to wear in the city and hanging out in downtown ,parties and all So which one should i buy ?
Both styles are extremely versatile so you can dress them up or down. It really boils down to which style you prefer best and which features you are interested in!
I have to mention this, I have a pair of the captains and the presidents, the president is much more comfortable because it doesn't have the cap toe. What the cap toe does on my foot on the captain boot is it forces the crease where the ball of my foot Benz when I walk, pushes that crease further away from the toe closer to the top of my foot, making it uncomfortable to wear for more than a couple hours, quite surprising as I thought these boots were basically identical. However they feel totally different, The president is way more comfortable on my feet
Am I crazy to order 1 whole size down? I originally ordered my true size (11.5). Too big. Therefore, I returned and exchanged for an 11. Honestly, I am unsure whether it is te proper fit. It fits more comfortably compared to the 11.5, but it seems there is slight movement (my foot inside the boot) when I take steps. I fear that if I do in fact return and try a 10.5, they will be too small. Could anybody please share their thoughts? Thank you!
I’m a 9.5 in athletic shoes and have always worn a full size down in boots. Whether it be combat boots to dress shoes. People talking about their sizing surprise me a lot. People who have never had a boot like this seem to go with a half size down based on recommendations and it’s probably close enough for them. But boots are supposed to be a little snug (not a lot) at the toe at first. They will stretch out with time and then they fit like a glove. Maybe a lot of people have wider feet? Or just don’t have the experience with a slimmer boot?
@@jpfloyd7703The main problem is the website says to order a half a size down to what they wear in sneakers. That’s why they talk about the half size fit.
Do I have to wear skinny jeans with these or are regular cut jeans okay ? I wouldn't want to break any fashion rules. 😉 I enjoyed this video. I saw Thursday Boots on Facebook and really need a new pair of every day lightweight casuals.

@@ohmyrufiohhh1303 yeah Thursday and the other sneaker brands are a huge miss imo. I thought you were referring to Crown Northampton’s quality. Crazy how they silenced a solid critique of subar leather and construction. I hate shit sneakers
I think they're both sick but I personally ended up buying the Presidents in Black with the speed hooks. I suppose I wanted a boot that had a slightly simpler design than the toe cap of the captains but it was really close between both and I think I would have been happy with either one. I think that the black Presidents are going to look great with some black or dark gray jeans and my black double breasted peacoat. I'm so excited for my Thursday Boots!!!
Still happy with your choice? I’m not sure whether to do black or a more casual brown. I also tend to dress monochrome, and don’t wear much for brown leathers.

Rose anvil cut the captain in half and the cap WAS decorative. There wasn't 2 layers of leather
So I'm like 11.7 on a Brannock, usually 11.5 is my true size but in Thursday I'm 11.5, I don't size down to 11 like I do in Red Wing
I‘m so confused. In Germany these boots only cost 87€ which is around 100$, why are they cheaper over here? Aren’t they from the U.S.?
Thursdayboots.de is a fake website!!! Avoid!
Soooo which one’s better?
Hey i still don’t know which one is ment for which purpose ?
I want a shoes to wear in the city and hanging out in downtown ,parties and all
So which one should i buy ?
So there is less space for your toe with the captains? Causing pressure towards the top of your foot?
how do you find your feet width for boot size EE or EEE
they do wide sizes
@@jpfloyd7703 I actually ordered a whole size down and they fit great. I am curious whether the other boot models experience a similar trend.
@@jpfloyd7703The main problem is the website says to order a half a size down to what they wear in sneakers. That’s why they talk about the half size fit.
I actually emailed Thursday and the toe cap is not functional and can't be rebuilt
idk what you mean by functional but I was just in their factory and watched them being made, it's an extra strip of leather
@@Stridewise really? I emailed them last week and told me it was just decorative. Miss communication I guess
Please, can I have thre web link for that president
Do I have to wear skinny jeans with these or are regular cut jeans okay ?
I wouldn't want to break any fashion rules. 😉
I enjoyed this video.
I saw Thursday Boots on Facebook and really need a new pair of every day lightweight casuals.
How good or bad are the BOSTONIAN No. 16 Cap Men's Ankle Boot?
Dang those Iron Rangers look so good.
I have both and I feel like the captain is more comfortable. Good boots. Their sneakers suck though.
Agreed. My Crown Northampton sneakers in Shell Cordovan are spectacular, money goes a long way in the sneaker world.
@@memefeed2147 yeah I just hate how they market themselves as a luxury sneaker when it’s a far below that. lol I actually called them out on their issues with the super creasing and quality on Instagram. They deleted my comment.
@@ohmyrufiohhh1303 you mean crown sneakers? did you get the shell cordovan model?
@@memefeed2147 I don’t own any cordovan sneakers but I do have a pair of cordovan Allen Edmonds cap toes and that leather is just something different. I was mainly referring to other brands on this list such as koio or ace marks. The leather and quality is just on a bother level than the Thursday’s. They gave me bs respond about how leather naturally creases. I gave them the response that all other sneakers look great after a year of use but the Thursday’s look like Benjamin button after one night of wear.
@@ohmyrufiohhh1303 yeah Thursday and the other sneaker brands are a huge miss imo. I thought you were referring to Crown Northampton’s quality. Crazy how they silenced a solid critique of subar leather and construction. I hate shit sneakers
Not an actual cap toe on the captain. Rose and anvil did a cut in half vid. It’s a not a real cap on the toe. Still a great boot, still love mine.
That one leg squat though.
I think they're both sick but I personally ended up buying the Presidents in Black with the speed hooks. I suppose I wanted a boot that had a slightly simpler design than the toe cap of the captains but it was really close between both and I think I would have been happy with either one. I like to rock a black/gray monochrome outfit a lot of times, that's kind of my go-to outfit for everyday wear.
Thursday Boots commercials are good
it actually is Not an extra layer, they been cut apart countless time on youtube and prove it is Not another layer of leather on the cap toe.
Thank you for answering my question on what’s different about the storm king. Thursday would not reply to my email. Which makes me not want to buy from them. How’s their customer service in your experience?
mate, how is this compare to RM williams?
Damn, the lack of speedhooks on the made in America lines... I've got Vanguards and Loggers and neither are anything I'm reaching for in a rush.
The Vanguards were my first boot and yep. No speed hooks. Not really interested in wearing them as much nowadays. Kind of sad...
@@NathanKnepper They were my first dress boot, I rotate them in a few times a week but when my Parkhurst's get here I do feel I'll be partial to them.
@@jordanaethelric2614 I picked up a pair of spruce kudus recently! They're absolutely amazing. Probably one of my top 3 if I'm being honest.
@@NathanKnepper I love everything about the fit and style of the Parkhursts but the first day they were rubbing the hell outta my tendon. I hope this is just a break in issue.
Amazon reviews shows a ton of complains about Thursday Boots quality control.
The showdown.
I didn't know why speed hooks were called speed hooks!
Any other way to wear these without an enormous cuff?
honestly i bought redwing beckman and i hate how they feel im honestly thinkign to trade them with somone for thursday boots
i like the president as it doesnt look as dressy as the captain
I took a deep dive on threads and found if you have a wide foot, go down a full size and pick the wide version. I took a shot, received the shoes, and it fits perfect. Not too snug not too long. Sneakers in 13, 12 Wide in Thursday Boots.
Oh wow! I should try that. Good work Charles
I'm rather in love with the legends...
🔥🔥🔥🔥
I've got both in 9.5 size and the presidents are a bit longer...
