Also may I ask, what do you think for the TCX Metropolitan riding boots? I can't find any info about whether the soles are stitched or glued. Looks glued to me?
I do love my explorers. They're probably the most comfortable boots I've ever worn. My only gripe is that the tongue goes down pretty low which isn't what you'd want for an exploration boot because water can quickly get inside if it's too deep. A gussetted tongue that's higher up the boot would be a nice upgrade to later models.

Good video Bill. Between you and Nick at Stridewise, I got interested in Thursday Boots. I own 4 pairs now. Thinking about getting the Storm King Captain in tobacco or the Vanguard.. My first Thursdays were Tobacco Cadets. I now have Black Matte Captains, but so far, the Cadets feel the best and are my favorite of the two. If Thursday offered the Cadet in black matte, oh man that would be awesome.
Could you share why you prefer the cadets ? I can’t find much about them online and I don’t want to start out with the captains as my first pair of boots. @Scott Roberts

I’m looking to buy this pair and have the same issue. They say to drop half a size for your usual size but they say to go up for those with wider feet. Did you get your normal size or did you go up 1/2 a size from that?
@@coltongile5240 I wear a size 14 so I didn’t have the option to go up a half-size at the time so I can’t say. They were REALLY snug tho. It's not only the collar in the explorer that makes it look like timberlands, it's also the stitching on the sides and the boot profile that makes it look really similar to a timberland, only taller and with speedhooks. Even the sole looks similar.
I only have the presidents and the captains. I agree with your assessment the captain looks better for the cap toe, but my go to is the president FOR SURE. Full disclosure I bought the captains on eBay in Arizona adobe and I do not like how they feel at all, might have been seconds but they are not comfortable. The president broke in great and I barely notice when they are on. Very good review. I was going to go with the diplomat next because they look decent and comfortable, so it’s interesting that you put that last! The wingtip does look awesome though, That’s a sharp style.

I started out with the Major and love it. I was initially hesitant to get a zippered boot, but now that I've tried it, I've gotten 3 pairs of the Major.
I like the look of the logger…. I’ve been looking at how tricky it would be to add speed hooks myself, and it doesn’t look too tricky to be fair. Have you ever looked into it?
I’m flatfoot and I always wear my lowes but looking for new leather boot Stuck between duke and captain , leaning morning towards duke , but my question is how do the feel walking around ?
The indented heel of the waxed cocao Logger is not a feature of the Logger style boot. It's instead a feature unique to the waxed cocao leather of both the Logger and the Vanguard. I have the waxed cocao Vanguard, and I love it so much. Definitely not the normal Vanguard style.

One complaint I have about Thursday boots is that, if you aren't a big size foot (Bigfoot ha ha --- like around size 8), the shoe laces are way too long. They need to have some shorter lengths for their laces that fit the boot.
@BootSpy I’m happy I can across your video. I just bought the Burnt Ginger Captans but I am disappointed. They really do not look the way they do in the photons in the website at all. They look more brown than the reddish brown I was hoping for. Also they do not have black waxed laces at all they are dark brown and have no shine to them at all. The big issue. They do not have the darkened toe and heel the way they should. I don’t know what to call that. They do not say what that look is or how they darkened the heel and tow tip. Is it was? If I can find out how to do it I will just reorder them in the bigger size and fix that issue myself. Also the one size down didn’t work for me. They are so tight my feet were pounding. Even though I had a bit of heel slip my toes were feeling tight and so was my whole foot. I usually were mens 8 in my Converse Allstate that I were most often and other shoes. Dress shoes, etc. But I ordered them in a 7.5 and they got it wrong. I also am wondering if it there boots if I need a wider boot? I have never needed a wide boot or shoe in my life. So idk if it’s just that I need a 1/2 size larger or also wider. What do you suggest? Since you have so much experience with Thursday Boots, I would love to get your opinion. Thanks.
I would just go 1/2 size larger. Note that the leather will stretch out a little as you wear them, but if your feet were pounding, chances are your boots will still feel a little snug 1/2 size up and when the leather relaxes, you'll have a good fit. As for getting the toe and heel darker, I published a video maybe 2 or 3 videos ago called "how to care for Thursday Boots." Check that one out toward the end. I show how I applied wax to one of my boots to get that look. You can also just rub those areas with your thumb and that should add burnishing. Hope this helps!
I have several Thursdays and probably won’t buy another. The reason is because of their crummy soles. The soles on my tobacco Presidents were the worst I have ever owned; they blew out within 5 months of once a week wear and I could feel every rock through them. I know you don’t like wedge soles but I got some black Vibram wedges on them and they are light as a feather and so comfortable! I’m looking at Parkfield for my next boots; for the price of Re-soling my Thursdays I could have bought those in the first place
Funny cuz my favorite Thursday boot i own is the Scout in mocha 😂 i absolutely love this boot, i live in the desert where it's hot and dry, its also typically more casual where i live so some of the beefier boots just stick out too much in my opinion.
Hey there, I'd place the captain boots on number one position me too 👍 have you ever tried urban Shepard boots? They look pretty good in my opinion. Very "red wing like" style. ☺️
Please don't go camping in any Thursday boots. They are fasion boots, not hiking boots. But a pair of good tracking boots and save your Thursdays for sunday "hiking" in a park.
In my opinion, they basically all feel exactly the same. Thursday is really efficient in their designs, so there's a lot of overlap. I've never had an uncomfortable Thursday boot
Nice breakdown of each. I appreciate your explanation of the Logger (which is such a great looking boot). Also, I've been eyeing the Dress boots too, they look amazing . Please do a follow up video on them after you've worn them a little more. One quick question though, you said the Scout was a Goodyear Welt, but Thursday's site says "Stitchout Construction for Longevity." The Rugged and Resilient Scouts do say "Goodyear Welt Construction." Does that still mean they're GYW?
Yeah, I misspoke on that -- they're stitchdown constructed, which is different than a Goodyear welt. It's still a recraftable construction method though and makes for a solid boot
@@BootSpy thanks. It's honestly the reason I didn't get them though, I was able to get the Clark's bushacre 3 for $50. Considering I rarely wear a chukka I was fine with getting a cheaper made boot.
My (new) Thursday Captain smelled like a chemical plant. The whole house is smelly now. This seems to be an issue. How are they treating some of their boots?
Recently discovered your channel and it's great. I don't have 10 pairs but Thursday was also my first real boot (I believe I bought the Duke and Captain at the same time but wore the Duke first). Want to pick up the rogue, president, and maybe give the cadet another try in my actual shoe size 10.5 I'd say: 5. Cadet - never got it to fit quite right. Sold them which was a shame because I loved that ankle boot but not a chukka look. 4. Scout - 2 pairs. I like em a lot but I do find myself grabbing my dress shoes or sneakers more during summer and heftier boots during winter. 3. Duke - similar to the Scouts but I wear these a little more. 2. Vanguard - got the waxed flesh because I wanted the Nail Shank boots but didn't have $1,500 and these looked like a good alternative. Need to break them in more but I love them. Speed hooks and a pull tab would be great to have. 1. Captain - olive suede looks awesome. They're super comfortable and easy to put on. An awesome boot.
No Major boots? I liked that these are zip-up boots as well as lace-ups. You can save your time lacing up and off. How cool is this gonna be? Please get them and give us your impression of them.
Theyre great boots. I use them in Northern Norway artic winters. Good grip on snow. Not the warmest, but for walking to school/work its great. The stormking boots of thursday are the best ones.
Hey I'm really want a pair of captins Strom king in Matt grey but they are sold out and Idk what they will look like when broken in if you had them at 1 point or seen anyone do they get get any darker or no
I only have one pair of captoe boots, Brown Captain, and it is also my only Thursday boots. I don't feel the need of getting another model from the company, because I know I have the best one :D
Wolverine BLVD is giving Thursday some stiff competition. Thursday better watch out. Wolverine is a much older and larger company that can produce the same quality at a cheaper cost.
What, no Cadet to review, lol? I’m kidding, of course, since style is very much personal preference. I have two pairs of Cadet boots, sequoia and walnut, and they fit the bill for almost any casual to dressy outfit I would normally wear. I’d describe them as slightly high dress shoes rather than boots though.
Really? I’ve been looking at Thursday boots and I don’t like the heavy boot look of the captain, but I felt like the cadet was a good medium of getting that classic leather bootish style for smart casual look with that toe cap especially, without the bulky look of the captain. Hardly any videos on it though can’t get a good picture in my mind for them.
Thursday diplomats are my favorite love the look the jodhpur boot would be ranked last.i have trouble with the buckles. Good video i appreciate your input and channel
I have pretty wide feet and I was wondering if the Wingtips might be too narrow. I have a pair of Presidents and absolutely love em and was wondering if anyone had advice or input if Wingtips are significantly narrower than their other boots or if it just appears so due to the overall design?
I just ordered wingtips and I have wide feet. It's hard to tell how narrow they are in the pictures. I usually wear a 12 due to the width but they were too loose everywhere else. So I emailed them and they obviously suggested I try the 11.5. I am expecting them to feel a bit snug but hopefully open up some toward the front with some wear. I'll update you on what they feel like.
@@Currentsituation-nj9nw So they (11.5) still felt a bit too long for me. They definitely run longer than most shoes. The width felt ok but it just didn't feel right overall. The other thing was the finishes on both pairs so far have not really lived up to the pictures on their website. I feel like they look so much richer in the photos; definitely touched up or additional refinishing. I went ahead and ordered the 11s which just came in last night (I know I must be crazy to really want these to work). They felt way narrow out of the box but I decided to try and mold them to my feet instead of just giving up and returning them. I wore about 4 pairs of socks and shoved my feet in and wore them walking around the house until my feet went numb. Then as soon as I took each foot out I stuffed them with shoe paper until they were tight enough to fill in where my feet stretched the leather out. I intend to place them outside in indirect heat to hopefully mold into my foot shape for comfort. Time will tell. Additionally this size 11 seems to be the closest to the picture thus far although they still don't look as "deepy rich" as the pictures but I think I can probably find some how to videos on here to get them more like the pictures or at the very least find a shoe cobbler and see if they will work on the finish some for me. Hope that was a good enough update for ya. Remind me in a month and I'll let you know how it worked out and if I haven't returned them.

Did you dye the leather laces on the vanguard boot? They look darker than what is advertised on the website (in a good way)
No majors?
Can you tell where did you get the denim shirt from? It looks really cool
One complaint I have about Thursday boots is that, if you aren't a big size foot (Bigfoot ha ha --- like around size 8), the shoe laces are way too long. They need to have some shorter lengths for their laces that fit the boot.
I wanna own at least one chukka boot, so the scout sounds like a great option? Maybe the grey colorway will be good
Just bought a Thursday explorer today! Awesome video
I came to see your thoughts on the titan.😅
Do you not have a pair or just don't like them?
I got the titan after this video. I have a dedicated review just on that boot if you’re interested
Good video. I can only rock the styles with wide widths
yeah, they only have a select few styles available in wide. Thank you for watching!
@@BootSpy It's easy to watch. You have great content
Funny cuz my favorite Thursday boot i own is the Scout in mocha 😂 i absolutely love this boot, i live in the desert where it's hot and dry, its also typically more casual where i live so some of the beefier boots just stick out too much in my opinion.
Considering the release of the Titan, is this still their best one?
Titan is on the way…I’ll let you know
Great video. What brand is your shirt? Thanks 👍
That's a GAP denim shirt -- nothing fancy, but very comfortable
Hey there,
I'd place the captain boots on number one position me too 👍 have you ever tried urban Shepard boots? They look pretty good in my opinion. Very "red wing like" style. ☺️
Agree! Love my Urban Shepherd
Do you think that the Thursday explorer would be a good army boot? The climate in Greece is mixed i would like to know how the stitching holds up
Please don't go camping in any Thursday boots. They are fasion boots, not hiking boots. But a pair of good tracking boots and save your Thursdays for sunday "hiking" in a park.
You can do basic hiking in Thursdays, in my experience.
What are your top 3 purely for comfort and underfoot cushioning?
In my opinion, they basically all feel exactly the same. Thursday is really efficient in their designs, so there's a lot of overlap. I've never had an uncomfortable Thursday boot
@@BootSpy I thought the stormking or diplomat might be a bit more cushioned due to the sole. Is that not the case?
I am seeing Captains at 180. That cap toe would kill me, but it is beautiful. I looking for a combat style
No love for the Cadet? Not sure if it was out 2 years ago......
My (new) Thursday Captain smelled like a chemical plant. The whole house is smelly now. This seems to be an issue. How are they treating some of their boots?
That combat looks like it would be great on a standard or naked bike.
My first Thursdays that I ordered was the stormking
What about the Legend?
Recently discovered your channel and it's great. I don't have 10 pairs but Thursday was also my first real boot (I believe I bought the Duke and Captain at the same time but wore the Duke first). Want to pick up the rogue, president, and maybe give the cadet another try in my actual shoe size 10.5
I'd say:
Nice, great lineup! Thank you so much for watching -- I really appreciate it!
No Major boots? I liked that these are zip-up boots as well as lace-ups. You can save your time lacing up and off. How cool is this gonna be? Please get them and give us your impression of them.
Ive spent probably 24 hours of my life just leaving my boots, so you make a good point haha
I wanted to see the Thursday Legend on the list! Would love to see you review it
I'll have to get on that!
Theyre great boots. I use them in Northern Norway artic winters. Good grip on snow. Not the warmest, but for walking to school/work its great.
The stormking boots of thursday are the best ones.
Technical point. The captain doesn't have a true toe cap. Not double layer, just cosmetic.
Hey I'm really want a pair of captins Strom king in Matt grey but they are sold out and Idk what they will look like when broken in if you had them at 1 point or seen anyone do they get get any darker or no
the captains aren't comfortable at all. the extra layer of leather in the front will just hurt ur toes. extra pressure. The presidents are the best
Are they real leather?
You need to review the casa motos! I’m really considering getting them but I need your blessing lol
This channel is top top notch 👌...Keep it up man!
Thank you brother!
Great video! Good info. Thanks so much 🙏👍🏼
I have the caption in brown . Yes I like the boots but would not buy another pair . I wear my Timberlands more because of the weather in Toronto .
I fukcing love my vanguards, definitely my fav shoe to wear. Summer is rolling around so now I'm hesitant to wear them lol.
Got my Captains last Friday! Love em!
So glad you're enjoying them!
It’s surprising how much better the vanguard is compared to the other ones.
These would be great work boots if a steal toe cap was incorporated on it.
I have 2 pairs of Vanguards and they're great.
Fella looks like he's gagging like a pro in the thumbnail
Great video!
I have the captains I do like them a lot. My friend said they look too big on me. (I’m a short guy 5’6) anyone else have that issue?
You should do a video about Beckett Simonon Boots 😎
Which color is your Diplomat in this video?
Thursday diplomats are my favorite love the look the jodhpur boot would be ranked last.i have trouble with the buckles. Good video i appreciate your input and channel
Thank you so much for watching!
Just add speedhooks to your Thrusday logger yourself...
Why are your pants rolled up tho?
Would be good to see a review on Lanx boots.. Made in the u.k.
I just wish the Captain was a true cap toe. I would pay the extra no problem.
Go over your shoe collection one day!
at the end of the video , you forgot to pick up the Doritos bag in the stream😂
I know, still bothers me
@@BootSpy 🤣🤣🤣
Sounds like a Thursday Boot Commercial with no discounts! What's a matter you?
i prefer boots without speed hooks
I'd like the Scout better if it had 3/6 eyelets. Just 2/4 looks kind of feminine.
Just got my firt pair and I think I'm gonna end up like you whit 10 pairs they just 🔥 😂
Casamoto not in the list? 😮
@@AimForTheBushes908 how do they fit by now?
