    Weston,
    Hey listen man, I'm concerned with your bandsaw practice and I'm telling you there is a better way.
    You need a bandsaw sled. Can I make you one and send it to you? I'm thinking you need one with hold downs to stabilize the uppers and the nature of the sled will prevent the sole from dragging.
    You'll have to do minimum set up when you receive it and I think 90% of that smoke will not be produced, the dragging and shifting during the cut will be eliminated and your cut quality will improve drastically.
    I need some info.
    What model is your saw and what blade are you using? Do you cut thru steel shanks with it? Did you set your bandsaw up properly before and after the blade broke in(they stretch enough to throw off alignment)?
    Send me that info and I'll make you a sled. I'll even send video instructions.
    Have a nice day.
    Rich

      The sole isn't dragging enough to impede the process. A sled wouldn't do anything for the smoking. The smoking is going to happen unless he uses a blade with a coarser pitch and a larger gullet. It's not meant to cut rubber.

  • @leonardosousa8895
    @leonardosousa8895 6 месяцев назад

    I have bought a pair of made in USA Thursday boots. The upper leather is Horween natural waxed flesh, looks really nice. There are a few things that I would love to see in the boot though:
    1) A better heel counter - The heel counter is really soft and has almost no structure, so it does not provide any heel support.
    2) A thicker leather midsole - The midsole is pretty thin and it is glued to the outsole. So, there are no stiches connecting the welt, midsole and outsole (only the first two).
    3) Better finishing - The boot came with a lot of loose-end threads that I had to burn to finish the boots. Also the midsole was rough in some parts, smooth in others. We are proud of made in USA, but the quality control here was not up to the acceptable standard.
    I would pick the heel counter as the worst of this boot. I don't think the fake toe cap issue that was pointed in the video is that problematic, unless you use these boots as work boots.
    I still kept the boots, as I am testing this brand for comparison with Grant Stone, Nicks, Whites, Viberg, Junkard and Tahura. Not that excited.

    I've had these boots for > 1 year after completely destroying my old Redwing Black Smiths from 2015. The took way longer than the Redwings to break-in, and not nearly as comfortable. Now, I just use them as casual motorcycle boots, because walking > 1 mile just isn't worth it without feeling it in the soles. Don't think I'd buy Thursday again - the extra money is worth it to get Redwings.

    Personally, had a negative experience with Thursday boots customer service. Since Thursday boots are direct to consumer, I found the company failed in this aspect and deleted my fair, but negative reviews on their site. Beyond quality, difficult to non-existent recourse is a risk worth considering before purchasing Thursday boots.

    I have those Captain boots but I don’t wear them. The reason is simply that they are too narrow. I have Nicks Robert and Builder Pro in 9.5 E, my Captains are 10.5 D and my pinky toe is squashed. I will try to bring those to a cobbler for stretching and will see. Other than that, it’s a good boot for the price but the insole is quite hard.

      I've got a pair of the Loggers from Thursday, and it took a while to break them in. But eventually I did, and they're comfortable enough to put miles in them on pavement. Before that though, I'd only walk about a mile at a time before they painfully pinched my pinky toe on one foot, and my big toe on the other.
      So my advice is that if you like the look but don't find them comfortable, keep walking in them a bit at a time to break them in. I was disappointed, since one of the things that people tout about Thursdays is their minimal break-in period. But it eventually worked out.

Lots of glue slopped on the outside. This is not a work boot. It is sold for it's looks. Therefore they should build it to look good, not sloppy. Quality control seems to be non-existant. I prefer to spend a little more and get everything Thursday offers plus great quality.

    • @krazmokramer
      @krazmokramer 2 года назад +1

      @HORIZONS No, I'm not lying. I took 2 photos of the worst defects and sent them to Thursday when I applied for the refund. They require 2 photos. I can't post photos here. I'm happy for you that you are satisfied with your boots. My left boot had a vertical seam up the heel that started to spiral when compared to the right boot. It was off by nearly an inch at the top. Thursday refunded my money as soon as they got the returned boots. They didn't offer a replacement, and I didn't ask. But that has zero to do with the quality of the boots I received. If that rubs your fanboy attitude the wrong way, I'm sorry. I stand by my original post, which is my opinion and not subject to change regardless of how much you don't like it.

    I bought a pair if their Arizona Adobe rugged boots but with the regular Thursday sole about 2 years ago and they're holding up great. Now when I first received them I noticed that there was a bit of separation from the outsole and midsole (which has only gotten slightly worse over 2 years). I contacted Thursday and they told me to keep them and do what I wish with them and they're still going to send me a brand new pair. Awesome. • @aradoran
      @aradoran 2 года назад +35

      Hey just want to give you a suggestion. I would start wearing/breaking in the new pair over time by rotating it in. That will let the glue/sole/leather break in gradually. If you pull a brand new boot out after 5 years and it’s just been sitting, the glue is hardening up more and becoming less flexible…so more likely to have sole/separation issues.
      It’s also good for your main pair to give it days off to let the moisture/sweat dry out from inside. I try to rotate boots/shoes everyday as it spreads the wear out and breaks them all in gradually. I think there’s also benefits to your feet not walking in the same shoe/sole every single day.
      Anyway it’s your life and your boots just offering some advice.

    These boots are absolutely killer. I'm a railroad supervisor, the role is rather unique with me spending half of my time in the field and half my time in the office. I got this exact pair with my company boot allowance to give them a shot out on the railroad, so far they have been perfect. They look nice when I have to attend meetings and do the usual admin office stuff, but they handle walking around in ballast, uneven terrain, hills, hard pavement/cement, shop environment shockingly well. It's nice to have some boots that can do two things at once without sacrificing too much. We'll see how they last until next year when my boot allowance is granted again, I'm sure they'll meet my expectations though

Spent a few weeks with them in my cart weighing my options until I finally gave in and purchased them, and I've been super happy with them so far. Very comfortable and stylish, and the Goodyear welt has held up against puddles admirably.

    I ordered a pair of Thursday Boots due to all of the positive press they have been receiving online, & they just arrived today. They are beautiful boots, & they appear to be very well made. Unfortunately, they're not for me. I got them in an 11 Wide, & they are actually slipping at the heel, but too narrow at the front of my foot. It's also a shame that out of all of the RUclips videos I've seen, not a single one mentioned that the arched insole isn't removable. I actually have prescription orthotics I will not be able to put into the boot. They are certainly fine looking boots, I just wish they made wider sizes, & had removable insoles. Given those parameters, what manufacturer would you recommend whose line features wider widths than Thursday boots, with removable insoles, without breaking the bank?

    Just got mine yesterday and wore them to work for the night. I must say, this boot was WAY more comfortable than the MITUSA Logger boot. The Logger was my first purchase from Thursday because I liked the style of it a lot more and I was not disappointed...BUT...The only issue I am having with it (Loggers) is that it rubs on the top of my foot right where the crease is by the toes, so each step is painful. Even with my foot in pain from the Loggers, the Captain was such a relief (plus I had to put on some mole skin). Instantly a more comfortable boot. I think the Loggers have a much thicker leather, so they will take a lot longer to break in. I will probably wear the Captains more often and the Loggers only when my feet feel like they can handle them. Both great boots and I regret nothing from either purchase. I will be buying more Captains in the future! So many LEATHER options!
    *update* - Logger boots are broken in and very comfy! They no longer rub on my foot skin causing sore spots. Just took a bit of time to shape to my foot I guess. These captains are also very comfy and look great. I made the mistake of putting a shoe cream on them, which darkened the leather some. I was unaware that the tobacco rugged and resilient leather behaves more like a sued leather and I will treat them as such in the future.
